Just want to start off with the food was great and place was clean! Only thing that can be improved is for the employees Grace and Kyle to be more kind to the new kid that was making my subs. He was doing everything just fine fulfilling our order but he was still learning so he was a little slower ( which is COMPLETELY fine since he's learning ). I ordered a #24 minus one if the meats and Kyle came storming up from doing dishes, pushed the new kid out of the way and started cutting the meat I didn't want on my sub trying to micromanage the new kid but just looked like an idiot because he had no idea what I had even asked for. Then Kyle proceeded to yell at the kid and push him out of the way when just my husband and I were in the restaurant. (Also all while Grace was sitting on her phone on the counter in the back). I apologize for this being a long review but it's really sad to see this happen to someone who is willingly trying and who is obviously new and not just being lazy. Alanna was super helpful, she recommended their Prostitini(ham baked in a black pepper crust) and even gave me a slice to sample, it was delicious. Honestly incredible food and even better customer service. We loved our interactions and were given free samples of their house meat and recommendations out the wazoo. Good subs! Great bread and they slice all the meat and cheese fresh for you when you order. Highly recommend getting your sub "rouge style" which takes it up a notch. I personally love the Italian sub and haven't been disappointed. My only complaint is they don't have a BLT sub or cucumbers. Highly recommend though. Nice friendly vibe. I tried a small sample of a Boardwalk sub during the Uptown Shop Hop this winter and loved it! They had coupons out for a buy one sandwich combo, get one sandwich free, so my boyfriend and I went to this location to grab lunch. Walking in, you order at the left of the counter and watch as they build your sandwich with fresh ingredients. We were asked if it was our first time in and the girl making sandwiches gave us some samples of their capicola and prostitini! She was super helpful and polite. I ordered the #8, which is their most popular sandwich and comes with ham, capicola, salami, prostitini, pepperoni & cheese. My boyfriend got the Italian (#4): Ham, capicola, salami & cheese. You can choose white or wheat bread, and then you can get it toasted, untoasted, or Rogue style, which is where they flip the bread inside out, add a special blend of oil and spices to it, and grill it to perfection. We both opted for Rogue style. Once it's toasted you can add veggies, sauces, and spices. They have lots of great mayo options including chipotle mayo, roasted bell pepper mayo, and roasted garlic mayo! I added spinach, tomato, banana pepper, and roasted garlic mayo to mine. The sandwiches are MASSIVE 18" subs - definitely enough to split (and we got TWO because of the coupon). We got our order to go and they cut the sandwiches into halves, wrapped one half in paper and plastic wrap, and then cut the other half into three pieces. This is so genius and wonderful as it made it super convenient to save half for later. Everyone working at Boardwalk Subs was super friendly and polite and it was clear to me how they have won the Celebrated Service award in the past. One of the better sandwiches I've had in Grand Rapids area! I would HIGHLY recommend getting the sub 'rogue' style where they turn the buns upside down, season it with spices and Parmesan and toast it, extremely tasty! One thing you should know is that a normal sub is 15 inches so unless you have an non-human like appetite, would suggest getting a half or splitting it with someone. I got the #8 which I was told is by far the most popular sandwich and was not disappointed! It's a little out of the way for me but would definitely recommend if you're in the area! I often visit this location as it is near my place of work. Lately, I've been disappointed in the quality of turkey they are using. I am almost alway ordering between the #10, #11, and #13. Recently, the turkey on those sandwiches is dry, chewy, and clearly includes artificial coloring. This never used to be the case about 6 months ago. Please fix this! This is hands down the worst place to get a sub. While they are normally good subs, the first two times we tried Boardwalk, there was ONE person in front of us. We each ordered two things the first time, 2.5 the 2nd. It took THIRTY MINUTES each time, & both times the staff was SO confused. If you ask for something different than what's on the menu (I wanted Turkey instead of ham) it turns into an impossible job for the staff...we decided to give it one more shot since the subs are good, so this time we ordered over the phone for pick up. My husband made sure to tell them multiple times I wanted TURKEY instead of HAM...guess what I got on my sub. Yup! HAM....we have given this place THREE tries and every time have been disappointed. Stopped by for a quick/late lunch on our way through town with my daughter. This is a small place in a non-descript strip mall and a very bland/plain interior, definitely nothing special to look at. However, the service and food were excellent! We were offered samples of their various meats and even told about how they were made (I definitely recommend the capicola, it had just the right spice/kick). I had heard about this place for years, and recently started going there for dinner pretty frequently, their cold-cut subs hit the spot when it's hot out and don't want something heavy. They slice the meat and cheese right in front of you onto the sub, then top it with whatever veggies and sauces you'd like. I personally recommend the Turkey and Prostitini sub with cheese(provolone) it's huge, roughly 1/4 wider and longer than a subway sub. With a large drink it's about 10 bucks, but it's completely worth it. Sure you can get cheaper foot long subs, but well, they're cheaper for a reason. read more

The toppings are not many, but they have all my favorites and can be generous with them. My favorite is turkey and salami with extra pickles, olives, lettuce and onion. Then it's a toss up between mayo and honey mustard or mayo with vinegar and oil. Both very delicious. Like all sub places they offer soups, which are nothing special; chips and cookies which are something special!! They also offer a punch card which is a nice reward for being a loyal customer. After a few hours of shopping at the new outlet mall we came here for some grubbing. This is a great place for sandwiches. I like how they cut them up in thirds and sometimes in sixths if you get the whole damn 15 inch sandwich like my father and I did each. Yep, to top it off we got the everything sandwich. He got his with the Italian dressing and I got mine dressed with the chipotle mayo, but it wasn't as spicy as I would have liked it to be. My dad and I did do a pretty good job of finishing 4 out of the 6 parts of the sandwich, and then I had the rest for breakfast and it was still good! The bread is brought in from a bakery fresh each day, the meat is sliced to order in front of you, and the sandwiches are HUGE: fifteen inches to be exact. They actually cut it up into small, manageable pieces for you, which is considerate considering they aren't stingy with the toppings, either. This is how a sub should be.
