My experience at Pangaea Salon has been amazing! The atmosphere is very friendly but my favorite part is spending time with Mae. She has been my go to hairstylist/hair guru since I started going in February. It took me forever to find someone who cares about me and my hair! Mae listens to every detail I ask for when getting my haircut or getting hair color. Dana is awesome! I had previously gone to another salon for a cut and highlight touch-up. While they did a nice job, I went from honey highlights that complement my light brown hair to platinum blonde at the other salon. Hence, I went on the hunt for a new salon close to my home that does great work. I stumbled upon Pangaea Salon and it is great! First, they offered drinks. Any place that offers an adult beverage gets kudos right off the bat. Dana was able to blend the old, too-blonde highlights with a lovely partial highlight that complements my natural coloring. I have naturally fine hair, and she put in some great chunky layers that fall nicely and don't give the stringy look that fine hair can get if not layered properly. Not only that, but she's just plain super cool! She's funny, sassy, bold and easy to talk to. I really appreciated that Dana works quickly, too. I was in and out in just a little over an hour! I cannot rave enough about this salon and Yanin. I went in initially for a cut and Yanin gave me the best haircut of my life. She really listened to what I wanted and explained exactly what she was doing and why. She offers olaplex services and did a treatment that day. Absolutely worth it!! My hair felt better than it ever has. I asked her about color and she was very realistic with what I could expect. I wanted to go from a medium red/brown to electric blue. I was lucky enough to get another appointment scheduled the next day and she went to work bleaching my hair, dying it blue, and treating it with more olaplex. It was a long process, but that was to be expected in order to maintain the hair's integrity. My hair does not feel damaged and looks so healthy. I was in desperate need of getting my hair colored. Marco was able to fit me in last minute, and he did not disappoint in the least! I was feeling sort of up in the air as to what I wanted to do with my color. Marco opened a whole new world of possibilities to me by offering some different options that would work well with my skin tone, etc. I finally decided on some copper coloring and highlights, (coloring that I would have never even guessed would look good on me). I just had my hair done 3 days ago, and I have already received several compliments. I feel like a new and improved me! He really focused on my needs as his client, and even explained the process and techniques he was using, and why he was doing so, which made me understand that my hair was in the hands of a savvy professional. The salon itself is also fantastic. When I walked through the door, I felt relaxed, and at home. Speaking of relaxing, the chairs at the hair washing basins are really more of a recliner, and they are extremely comfortable. Warning: you may fall asleep. I visited Pangaea once before my most recent visit. My mom and I came upon this salon looking on the internet. Our first visit left us perfectly satisfied and content with our hair. Natalia and Marco did an amazing job and their personalities were the same. Recently my mom and I went back. I was scheduled with Kenny and my mother with Marco. Unfortunately I was very displeased with the way my hair was left. I specifically asked for ombre hair. I showed Kenny a picture and was very frustrated with his approach. My hair was far from ombre and it was very rushed. He was very rough and left my head aching by the time we were finished. I received very thick and choppy highlights instead of ombre hair. Throughout my session he looked lost and would continuously ask around for things. A good hairstylist is one who knows what tools to use, how to use them, and where they are located. I was extremely nervous from the beginning. In the end my hair was far from what I wanted and his price was ridiculously high. I was charged 175$ for something that was absolutely not what I wanted. I will not be booking any appointments with him anymore. I recommend that you book appointments with the more experienced hairstylists in the salon. Marco did an amazing job once again on my mother and he is always willing to work with you anytime! Marco did great on bringing my hair back to life! I'm an awful client when it comes to getting my hair cut because I hate hair cuts. I put them off for way too long and when it is finally time to surrender, I usually tell them I want the bare minimum cut off. Marco offered me a deep condition treatment so that we could recover some of my damaged ends and not have to cut off as much! Super cute salon. Conveniently located. Been looking forever for a curly salon/stylist and have been through several that I did not like. I must say, I could not be happier having found Carol at Pangaea. She is simply amazing! I had completely trashed my fine, super curly hair. Was trying to strip the color out and see how much grey there really was. Well, my hair ended up 3 different colors with the grey growing in white straight down the back. (Yes, think "skunk" like). Carol listened to all of my concerns, completely got me, gave me a great cut, put in low lights that perfectly match my real color and kept the silver grey in front where I wanted it. Natalia worked on my hair the first time and I was so impressed that I have been going back to her ever since. She did such an incredible job with my color.
