I usually love Panini Grill and count on them for consistent food and service, but my first visit to the Brea location today was a total mess. My friend and I had lunch on the patio and waited a solid 30 minutes just to get water. The service was painfully slow and careless; tables around us were left uncleaned, and when our food arrived, we had no utensils. After asking the food runner and waiting around while our meals got cold, my friend finally had to get up and track down silverware herself. When the waiter finally acknowledged us, he literally threw the utensils onto the table. Then, when we asked for extra napkins, he actually put his hand up to block us and just walked away. I was so shocked by the blatant rudeness that I called for the manager. While the manager apologized and gave us a free dessert, a sweet treat doesn't fix a total lack of professionalism. If employees hate being there that much, they shouldn't be working in hospitality! Management is also to blame by keeping them employed. When reading some of the other reviews, seems like service is really lacking here and the waiters have major attitude problems. I went with family at noon on a weekend, and the wait was thankfully only a few minutes given that this is a small restaurant. We decided to share both the charbroiled chicken shish kabob ($19.99) and the fresh Atlantic salmon kabob ($22.99). Each kabob entree comes with salad and rice. We chose a variety: romaine avocado salad, Mediterranean Greek salad, basmati rice, and bulgur pilaf (a nutty cracked wheat simmered usually with tomato paste). The salmon was my favorite kabob because it was juicy and flavorful. However, we only got five chunks, which is unfortunately not a good portion size for a dish costing more than $20. The chicken had a great smoky flavor with some char, but the meat didn't feel as tender as I hoped. We decided to try bulgur pilaf for the first time, and it tasted better than the basmati rice because it was simmered in a tomatoey broth. Service was good, and there was a moderate amount of waiting for food. Our server refilled waters and was friendly with other customers. Looking back, we thought that both kabobs didn't have much meat because the entree includes a salad. Also I asked for well done and one piece of meat was medium. The service was too slow on this particular day. I had to get up and ask for the check. Lestat is the man! Came here twice and bro is providing exceptional service on a daily basis. I will say that service was very friendly and the salad portion was huge. However, the salad was mostly greens with minimal other ingredients and very little dressing. The hummus texture was a bit gritty compared to most versions I've eaten elsewhere. Flavor was decent though. The wrap was not good to me. The chicken was so juicy but a smaller portion to the ratio of the wrap. I hated having super hot lettuce in the wrap. I also didn't taste the dressing in my bites. The inside of the restaurant was more upscale than casual and they had patio seating. It looked clean and open inside. If I visit again I would try to get the chicken and something else. read more

I've usually had this as a side, but it would also be amazing as an entree by adding a protein. Although you have one main server, the staff works together as a team to serve customers. The ambiance is family friendly and inviting. I've had the chicken Parmesan panini and the salmon and Brie panini. The chicken parm comes with a marinara dipping sauce, but even with that, it was on the dry side and the chicken itself was very thin. The salmon and Brie one, however, was pretty amazing. Great food, but the service was the worst. One server in particular, a blonde girl, was extremely rude. I asked her for a to-go box and she rolled her eyes, said "sure," and then never brought it. I placed a large pick up order for my Dad's birthday, my parents picked it up in Brea and came to my place in Irvine bc they love the Brea location (even though there is a PKG down the street from me). Part of the order included a hummus trio. Thankfully this was after my Dad's birthday lunch, but when I later was enjoying the leftover hummus with carrots and bit down on a piece of METAL! I called the Brea location immediately and spoke to a manager and she was unapologetic and just provided me an email. Sent the email that same day and got no response. To just confirm they got the email I called the following day and spoke to the same manager. She again, was unapologetic and said her and the GM saw the email together but gave no resolution. I was told by Monday I could get an answer due to days off between them both. At the time of our arrival we noticed how busy it was for a Saturday so we can understand waiting outside before being sat down. One of the cooks from the back was actually the first person to acknowledge us after waiting the first 5 minutes and went to grab someone. We were sat inside and ordered within the time our waiter returned to get our drinks out of the way. We waited a good 30 minutes and noticed another couple sat behind us and ordered the same meal within 15 minutes and finished their food as soon as we began eating, this was due to the "beef" taking longer to cook but the chicken was sitting on the window for a while when they brought us both plates. First thing to catch our attention was how hot the beef was and how barely warm the chicken was. I'm no cook but i'm pretty sure it's know beef cooks faster than chicken, still doesn't make sense that the couple behind us ordered the same meals along with wine and were in and out less than 40 minutes meanwhile we waited almost 50 minutes just for our food and made us late to an event.
