I've given all I can But we're still on the payroll Braised Lamb Burrito w/ Masala Tots from #MaastIndian
    Mojo S.

Toby has a theory that all language is about communication, about transmitting ideas from one person to another, so if those two people only speak one language like English of course they're going to speak English to each other. It's different with polyglots like herself. She knows shy of ten language so she's always meeting folks that can speak English and one other language. And she says sometimes the best way to get ideas across is to seamlessly switch between them if they other person is capable of appreciating both, using phrases and constructs from one where the other language is weak in. It's the same with food. Sometimes I believe that the best food is taking one thing that a cuisine does superbly and melding it with another aspect from another cuisine because they do that superbly. Maast has good Indian proteins and sauces, and is willing to utilize other types of delivery systems like burritos, munchwraps, and tostada bowls to make dishes that are more than the sum of their parts. My braised lamb tucked into a burrito was insanely tasty and innovative. I don't know if I've ever had a burrito like it. I mean--I've had goat burrito, which is the closest equivalent. But even that was more of a Mexican classic birria goat than anything with Indian roots. This was an a true Indian burrito. I think the closest equivalent would be when I had the bulgogi chimichangas from Cha Cha Chili, the great Korean/Mexican fusion place that closed some years ago. In short, my lamb burrito rocked and I think the whole CYO entree system at Maast rocks as well. The service is great, going over the whole menu with me and the rest of the party and even answering questions when I had them about how it all worked. They were fast. They were helpful. That's all you can ask from a staff. The ambience was good too. It had lots of seating. It had that nice state where it was busy enough to have other customers going in and out, but not so much that it would be hard to find a seat. It was a clean and buzzing environment, but not so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. But I think the best selling point is that they're trying out some great pairings between Indian base ingredients but expressing those thoughts in a more Mexican-grounded system. Like Hannah said, it really is the best of both worlds and I can't wait to try more of their menu next time I come.

Had a fantastic lunch here today! Great friendly service. Appreciated the explanation of the menu -- fusions (tostadas, burritos, etc) or curry bowls were among the main features on a pretty vast menu with numerous sides and Mac and cheese options, etc. I ordered a bowl with 1/2 chicken, 1/2 mixed vegetables korma curry that came with super fluffy, perfectly cooked rice and paratha (a delicious flat bread), and a side order of 3 samosas with cilantro chutney. The chicken was super tender and the vegetables were perfect. Great portions too. I ate half for lunch and will enjoy the rest for leftovers. Really wish they were serving naan, but that will come later as they build out their kitchen. They let you customize the heat level of your curry -- I selected hot, and the server asked if I wanted it at an 8 or 10; I selected 8 cause I love spicy food. This food was next level spicy and your girl could've had medium, lol. Still flavorful though. Very delicious curry. I'll be returning soon!

The service and ambience are great. Our food came out very fast. The concept of casual fusion food is very creative. There is a parathadilla (paratha folded over with your choice of filling) and munchwrap (indian crunchwrap). I like that you can customize your dish. The kids menu is really cute. All the dishes are named after things that kids say at restaurants (e.g. "i'm not hungry" is a chocolate chip cookie). They also have more traditional dishes if you aren't feeling adventurous. The food itself was not very flavorful and we were disappointed. The pani for the pani puri is sour. The bhel was really nice. The garlic naan felt uncooked inside and burnt on the bottom. The masala chips were a table favorite, potato chips with chutneys drizzled on them. The paneer mac and cheese was also pretty bland. We were excited to try this place but we presumably probably won't go back unless the food quality improves.

I've been to lots of Indian places in the area - you can stop you search here. The owners are a genuinely wonderful family and the mom is lovely! But the food is even better! I recommend the lamb coconut curry - so good! I'll be back soon and telling my people to go try it for themselves

Maast is in its soft opening phase, and it's a great experience so far. So much care has been put into the experience. The atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxing and upscale. Since working through the stages of opening, the dining room had a few small parties. The staff was incredibly attentive, personable, and kind throughout our dining experience. We've had Maast when it was part of the Smart Kitchen during COVID, so it's been years. The food is even better than we remember. The menu is an eclectic fusion that still manages to pay homage to its Indian street food inspiration. It's a fun new spot with delicious bites! We ate our food too quick to get a pic and only thought of it when we ordered dessert, but we'll be back for more. We ordered: A Butter Chicken Tostada Tokri Samosas Pani Puri A kids Mac (huge serving!) Mango lassi Kesar Pista Cheesecake (topped with crushed pistachio)

    Kesar pista cheesecake is phenomenal!

Update: went again recently and while the fries were still great, my husband and I both agreed that the burritos were less flavorful, as the sauce was thinner. I also found a hair in my burrito, which I understand occasionally happens, but it made me wonder about kitchen adherence to hairnet usage. Good service as usual

Came in for their soft opening and were greeting by friendly staff that answered all our questions. Food was delicious and flavorful.

Fantastic!!! Been back twice in one week. 10/10 they also have a fully vegan menu if you ask :)

Fast-casual Indian joint missed the mark for me. The curries tasted like instant-sauces and lacked depth of flavor. I didn't care for the chicken which was small and cubed, rather than traditional tender pieces. The mild butter chicken and samosas had some heat if you have a low tolerance for spicy food. Food came out quick and staff were very friendly. Check it out, we all have different tastebuds and preferences!

The food was delicious, I really enjoyed the Crunchwrap lamb braised with butter masala and masala totts. It's a good mix of traditional Indian with a modern twist to it. Good use of spices and sauces. The manager and server were attentive and friendly. They helped me out with the menu as I was unfamiliar with some of the items. 10/10 ambiance as well.

Curry Hut is in a small plaza with limited parking (although cars frequently come and go). It's a cozy place with only six tables, but most people pick up their food and go anyways. The employees and courteous and patient, especially for those who are visiting for the first time. They constantly are turning out dishes to refill their counter hot plates and everything looks and smells delicious. They have a short list of meal combos; I went with the 2 item combo and of course upgraded to garlic naan. I got goat curry and palak paneer, along with a mango lassi. The mango lassi tasted different than others I've had; it was more on the tart side. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't one of my favorites. The goat curry and palak paneer along with warm rice were amazing! I could bathe in their palak paneer. Their food also didn't feel heavy, even though it was a very filling meal. I HIGHLY recommend this spot for a quick lunch to pick up or even for catering! If I find myself in Fullerton again soon, this would definitely be one of my top destinations.

Chicken tikka masala is delicious & 2. I have no idea what to order. Tonight I ordered the combo dinner for one, to go. But, it fed myself and my 14-year-old (who has a bottomless pit of a stomach), with leftovers to spare! The combo included tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, 2 veggie sides (I think they were yellow dal tadka & saag paneer), samosa, an appetizer of some sort of fried deliciousness, rice, garlic naan, & a rice, pudding style dessert. First off the chicken tikka masala is absolutely delicious! So rich & creamy. I'm so glad I ventured out of my lane because each dish was so flavorful. The dishes are made fresh to order, so be patient. I promise it's worth the wait! I can't wait to come back for one of their all-you-can-eat lunch buffets so that I can explore more flavors. The owner took the time to walk us through the menu, guiding us on where to start and sharing his personal recommendations, which made the experience feel welcoming and special. He recommended his top dish is the Chicken 555. It is soooo good, very tender. Their buffet runs from 11 AM to 7 PM, which is almost unheard of since most places end around 2-3 PM. This isn't your typical buffet food either, everything was made fresh!! The meats were soft and tender, the curries were rich and flavorful, and not a single dish was watery. Every bite was perfectly balanced and deeply satisfying. The cherry on top is the Mango lassi is included with the buffet! It's super creamy, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. All you can eat buffet stretching from wall to wall. Unlimited mango lassi. Tablecloths and drinks served in actual glasses. Yesterday, I brought the parental units to show off this lovely place and sad to say I guess times have become tough. The buffet was half its previous glory, part of the dining room has become storage and the office. All excusable and passable, but the most noticeable change was the quality of the food. The naan was a thin pita version of its old self. The butter chicken was not creamy and buttery delicious as it used to be. Samosas were nowhere to be seen. Fluffy rice became crunchy kernels inside a plastic bowl under the steel roll top. The mango lassi tank was replaced with pre-packaged plastic cups in a serve-yourself fridge limited to 2 per customer. There were reminders of the flavors I remembered from pre-Covid days, but only 3 occupied bare tables at lunch time on a Saturday speaks for itself. Soaring prices, dated spaces, disappearing tablecloths, limited service and shrinking menus are all signs of the times, but imho survival would depend on the quality of the food it offers. I would have gone back for that. Wishing this place luck that it will recover its locally-loved reputation.

Each dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. What elevated the experience even further was the service. The hospitality was exceptional, and the owner personally took the time to come over, greet us, and ensure that everything was to our liking. That level of attentiveness added a gracious and personal touch that made the evening feel even more special. One of the standout qualities of Spice Social is its broad appeal. It is an excellent introduction for diners who may be less familiar with Indian cuisine, as the menu feels approachable while still offering depth and authenticity. There is a subtle contemporary influence in some of the flavors and presentation, which makes the experience especially appealing to those who appreciate familiar elements alongside traditional Indian delicacies. Service was not warm to start, but it got worse after they brought me overcooked salmon when I ordered Chilean sea bass. I told them there was a mistake and the waiter tried to convince me it was sea bass. Sea bass is white and salmon is pink with a completely different texture. He did not apologize but returned my salmon to the kitchen. Good thing I ordered garlic naan which ended up being my lunch. It was good. They even included jalapeños on it at my request. It's actually hard to overcook sea bass but they managed it. A lady came by and did apologize saying something about the fish being lost in her translation. Her English sounded perfect to me. I just smiled and said it was ok but I could smell the fish coming before it hit the table. Super fishy. But maybe it would be ok. I took a bite and another just in case I had it wrong but it tasted old. Chilean sea bass is supposed to have a buttery soft texture. It just smelled, tasted and felt old. I let her know. She went and told the waiter who I could see shaking his head. He didn't return to serve us. She closed out the bill and removed the fish at my request. If that was it I would not have left this review because cooks have off days sometimes and there are hundreds of restaurants I've eaten at that just don't need a review. But the attitude I got was uncalled for. She said they served 3 and nobody else complained. Well that was awkward. After 3 they should have known the difference between salmon and sea bass. I really enjoy Indian food. Just not going to enjoy it here. I hope this review helps other diners.

It appears to be family run and there was no one to welcome us in or tell us where to sit or how to order for about 10 minutes so we seated ourselves. It didn't help that the goth daughter was extremely strange or introverted and non communicative. The owner and workers also didn't seem friendly to outsiders if you know what I mean. The seating arrangement is terrible as they set up for large tables (visitors appear to come in large sizes/families) and you get stuck behind the chairs due to poor spacing. Since there might not be many options, I think they receive very good business from Muslims and halal eaters. In terms of food, I don't think I liked it and it gave me extreme heartburn and I love spicy food. The popper/bread is too oily for me, they don't offer garlic naan for their buffets. Sadly they also did not include the spinach dish either. The offerings were mainly meat dishes which were just ok to me (I didn't really think it was BBQ as described, more like pan seared). The 3 items that I was good with were the saucy stewed beef, the BBQ seared chicken breast (although texture was strange on some), and the mango drink which had mango chunks and not the premade stuff that is really heavy. Would I come back? Likely not... unfortunately I didn't find anything that I would crave. I felt that it was more expensive than Indian food, perhaps the halal meat is more expensive? But at Indian buffets it's slightly cheaper or they offer things like champagne, and items that I prefer like garlic naan, more vegetables dishes, and curry. Maybe Pakistani isn't my jam?
