As we waiting for our ice cream sundaes to arrive, the servers came outside and gave us fresh popcorn. It was such a small but sweet (and tasty) gesture. The owner came out and gave us our ice cream sundaes and chatted with us for a while about the life of an entrepreneur. She was so kind to give us so much attention and information on her life starting businesses in the local area. The mission of this shop is so pure and you can tell that the ice cream parlor was built with so much love. The ice cream and mango italian ice were both fantastic. If you are in the area, I hope you get the chance to visit and have conversation with the family.

I think in many of our cultures, getting ice cream was somewhat of a treat and possibly enjoyed while on summer vacations. In this environment it gets even better. That was my mindset when seeing TIP for the first time. Clean and brightly colored shop with very nice outdoor seating options. Going inside you encounter a clean, colorful and brightly lit space with a few more tables. The counter was plexiglassed ala Covid style. Cases held about 12 ice cream choices, with maybe 8 more ice choices. Several options looked appealing to me. I went with old faithful chocolate and paired it with something I've never had, banana split. While I liked the chocolate, I really liked the split. It did remind me of getting sundaes and such as a child. The flavors were clean in both, and not overly sweetened. A better than average creaminess, but not in the upper tier. I'd get either again, or maybe one of the rotating flavors. The ice cream is not made in house, I was informed that it is sourced from local makers. I have a few suspicions as to who they might be, but of course more research will be required;). I really enjoyed talking with the owner and his two sons. To say this is a family business and or a labor of love is just barely hitting the mark. I'm tempted to tell the whole story here but I think it's better for the curious to just visit themselves. This is a business I would love to see thrive for many years. And as they succeed it could offer hope to other businesses or even families. Trenton needed this.

El autentico sabor de Guatemalteca!…read more If you know what I mean. This tiny Guatemalan casa sits in the same location as the former Tierra Maya. That owner has departed, but the same people remain in the kitchen and are now running the show. Their orientation is somewhat different in that they have added a broad selection of ice cream and cool fruit drinks, both perfect for the Central American-type heat we have had this week. But, the food is still top notch, despite the extra refrigeration in the shop. Only 4 tables, the menu offered traditional comidas, plus Mexican platas for the growing Latin population in and around Trenton, NJ. I had the Carne Asada Tacos today. Three double tortillas, filled with sliced and diced thin grilled steak, onions, and hot chili peppers. Radish, Cucumber and Lime wedges for each taco, plus excellently grilled Jalapeno and Scallion on top of the whole shebang. Delicioso! The Chips and Salsa seemed homemade, as the corn crispies came out hot and scorched, with freshly made red and green Salsa. Really good! I also had a Bastida de Pina (Pineapple Shake), made from fruit cut just for me, milk and crushed ice. So cool, tart and refreshing. $3. Fabulosa! All this for $9. And, I rather enjoyed being the only Yanqui in the house.

The chicken tacos were actually good, but it took forever for them to prepare them. The warmth that was provided by the previous owner is gone, and so is their hottest sauce in the neighborhood. We have been there several times already so I was surprised I hadn't reviewed it. The food here is always fresh and the staff can be slow at times they are always friendly. Serving breakfast and lunch they have creative menu items and standard classics. With minimalistic decor the place is comforting and inviting. Hosting tables, booths and counter seating there is plenty of room for everyone. The open kitchen is a treat allowing you to see the magic behind the curtain. Decent fresh food, plenty of unique daily specials. A solid 4 stars.

I have to…read moresay, my experience was a bit mixed--but I will definitely be back to give it another shot. Let me start with the food: it was absolutely delicious. The portion size was generous, and the prices were very reasonable. No complaints there at all. Where things fell short for me was the service. To be fair, the place was packed--people waiting both inside and outside--which is usually a great sign of a popular spot. When I went in, I gave my name and mentioned I was dining solo and happy to sit at the counter. I noticed an open seat but was asked to wait until my name was called. A few minutes later, a waitress came around checking on guests and realized there was, in fact, a seat available, so she sat me right away. After looking over the menu and deciding what I wanted, I sat for about 10 minutes without anyone coming over. The same staff member noticed and ended up taking my order. One thing that stood out to me--I was asked to pay upfront, which felt a little unusual, especially since I noticed other customers were paying at the end of their meals. Not a big deal, just something I found odd. Unfortunately, while sitting at the counter, I also witnessed two staff members arguing and using inappropriate language in front of customers, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. All that said, I truly believe the food speaks for itself, and that's what matters most to me. I'm hopeful this was just an off day because I would absolutely go back again and give them another chance. Please don't let this review deter you from trying them. I'm hoping it was just an off day.

Sicilian caponata, pollo pistachio, tuscan pasta, 12oz prime new york strip and I LOVED the halibut special. Each again was beautfilly prepared, and plated. Very deserving. I don't even know where to begin bc they hit it out if the ball park for us. Our compliments to the chef!!! So I have to start with my Pork Chop...omg...perfect. Rocco's closed down in Newtown, PA and their pork chop was the best...this pork chop was right up there with Rocco's. The mustard sauce, unique topping, was amazing. I am thinking about it today and my mouth is watering. My husband's veal was probably the best he has ever had. The most tender veal ever with a delicious marsala sauce. Then there were the pastas and seafood...all delicious. Oh and the calamari. It was all so darn good. Kyle was our server and he added to a perfect dining experience. He answered our questions, described the choices right on, made recommendations, he was friendly, had a wanting to please attitude and my 13 yr old granddaughter was crushing on him. (Haha). Wish all of our servers were that effecient and good. Gotta love a BYOB! The restaurant is modernly decorated and very comfortable. High energy kinda place. Noise level was high but all restaurants are loud these days and it really wasn't too bad. It was our first time at this restaurant and even though it is a bit far...we can't wait to go back. It is a pleasure to support a family run business. The owner came to our table and you could see her pride and we also felt our business was appreciated. I see why every table was full on a Sunday night. I just wish this place were in our neighborhood!! Love love love it!!!
