Coming from California, I had low expectations for Mexican food in NYC but this place was decent! We came on a weekday so it was pretty quiet and we got a table in the courtyard. The esquites were a bit chewy because the corn was a bit immature, but the flavor was really tangy with a kick! The enchiladas were okay, mostly forgettable, but the tacos were really tasty!

I had the enfrijoladas off the brunch menu. They are basically mini quesadillas covered in a black bean sauce and toppings - cilantro, avocado, and an egg. The black bean sauce was rich, and there was a decent variety of toppings. The corn tortillas tasted great, and there was just the right amount of cheese on the inside. The dish needed a bit of lime juice to brighten it up, but otherwise it tasted alright. The portions felt a bit on the smaller side. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space. The decor gives it a southwestern vibe, with the exposed wood and succulents everywhere. They have a back patio, which is a great choice in good weather. The food was good, but too expensive at $31 after tax and tip. This makes it tough to recommend.

Only got to try 3 dishes, but that was all I need to make sure I returned soon. All three were delish. Don't skip the esquites!! The Baja tacos could have had a little more protein but the flavor was there. There's a backyard patio open for the summer that gives you room for larger groups. Can't wait to go back.

Chicken milanesa and tacos de lengua were outstanding. $10 happy hour margaritas were a plus too. Highly recommend

I do love the little cluster of restaurants along the western end of Greenpoint Avenue. It's like the Brooklyn equivalent of a strip mall, complete with all the essentials - a post-industrial park, a cocktail bar specializing in tinned fish, and of course an elevated CDMX-style Mexican establishment in Panzon. We shared most of the vegetarian items on the menu, starting with the guacamole and elotes ribs. The elotes ribs were slathered in mayo and naturally were fantastic, if a bit hard to eat (hence my usual inclination towards esquites). For larger plates, we had the cauliflower al pastor on a tostada and the machete quesadilla. The quesadilla was definitely my preferred option - it had a thick slab of rich white Oaxacan cheese, and of course I love a healthy portion of the paneer of the Americas. The cauliflower dish was a bit too mild for my taste.

Came on Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm & sat outside in their cute little patio. +1 for vibes. Thankfully we were in the shade, but most of the tables looked pretty hot and only a few other people chose to sit outside. Solid, pretty cocktails, but nearly all of them were mezcal based and it would have been nice if there were a few more options. Tried a couple apps - Guacamole ($18), Frizzled Onions ($8). Onions were a too oily and cut too fine, but the seasoning was on point. Accompanying salsas were a nice touch. Overall, I'd definitely go again if I happened to be around, but wouldn't make a special trip out.

Was about a 45-minute wait on a Friday night, not super surprising, but we were able to put our name down and grab a drink elsewhere. When our table was ready, we were seated at a communal table - not quite what I was expecting, but not a huge deal. We ordered the avocado margarita, a beer, guac, chicharron, and the frizzled onions. We waited a while for even drinks to come, and the food actually ended up arriving first. I was pretty disappointed in the portion size of the guac given the $17 price tag, and the onions were pretty oily. Overall, the experience felt rushed and overpriced. Really, the only thing I'd consider returning for is the avocado margarita, and even that was steep at $18.

Unfortunately very disappointed in Panzon. We had high expectations given all the reviews however it did not live up to it. Wait time for a walk in was 2+ hours, so we decided to sit at the bar. The drinks were just okay. And the guacamole was a small portion size. Very expensive as well.

WOW ... my expectations were seriously exceeded. I had walked past and seen Panzón on social media a few times and decided to walk in and try it one Friday evening. We walked in with no reservation around 9 pm and were seated about 15-20 minutes later. The host was great, she brought us drink menus and took our order to the bar. The cocktails were very interesting, if you're interested in a fruity tequila or mezcal drink they didn't have too much of those however. I really liked the panzón cocktail and would recommend. The food was next level, it was so fresh and flavorful. Definitely get the guac, flautas, and birria tacos they were all great. The service and vibe was awesome too, they had a dj playing but it wasn't a "clubsterant" it was funky chill music you could still talk without shouting. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend.

Took almost 20 minutes for someone to come greet us and take our order after we were seated. Took another 15 minutes for the first cocktail to come out. Pathetic. Waitress was pretty much unapologetic. I live down the street and was excited to be a regular here, but walked out with one of the worst dining experiences in years. No joke. This spot is cool, great menu and awesome vibes. They have one bar tender, who has frosted tips, that is a total jackass. My friend was ordering drinks and asked for grey goose and this Eminem wannabe lost it and threw the menu at her and said "here's the menu why don't you order stuff we actually have." This guy is a total loser and kind of ruins the experience - he's like pouty, like he's mad at his parents and just wants to go home and punch a hole in the wall while he listens to rage against the machine. I got a delicious Paloma cocktail that went very refreshingly with our guacamole. I also the mushroom quesadillas, which were satisfying but not as tasty as the dipping sauce that came with it. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich, which I sampled. It had a much darker and earthier flavor for the meat than I expected, but it made a complex complement to the zing of the sauce. Loved the atmosphere here, and drinks were great, both alcoholic & non-alcoholic options. The tuna tostada and chicken tinga tacos were the crowd favorites; I went with a large group and we ordered everything on the food menu minus the chicharrón & onion snacks. The corn ribs were also very tasty, and the wings were that good kind of messy. My only critique is when we did order so many dishes, service came out with too many dishes at a time, rather than spacing out snacks, shareable plates, and mains. We were just dipping into the guacamole when 4 more hot dishes came out, and we had to ask our server to slow down the plates so we could enjoy what we were eating rather than feel rushed out. Overall, I'd like to return, but maybe I'd order more intentionally (slower). read more

Echoing others who said they made a yelp account to write the review....Live a few blocks away and this meal literally haunted me for days...I lied in bed tossing and turning cursing myself "why did we spend $125 here...why??!?!" My wife and I don't really drink so if they have a bomb ass marg and you want to grab a drink and listen to some pretty decent fun music then this could be a decent pre dinner or post dinner spot....but the food is straight trash. It's just as expensive as Oxomoco which is literally up the street, same long wait and has phenomenal food...or go to Vamos al Tequila 2 blocks away, half the price and also great food. We ordered the onions, salsa, guac, tuna tostatda and the torta....Everything was either just passably decent or terrible...The guac was flavorless and the torta gave me vibes of waking up hungover in college and remembering holy f I cant believe I ate that last night at 3am it was trash... The bartender and serving staff were so personable and genuinely kinds. They gave my husband something for his low blood sugar "just because". So we went back and spent money there, and they ended up treating our son to free chips and just making our night so enjoyable. Delicious food and drinks, and a very chill atmosphere. Hot damn! Best cocktail I've had possibly ever: the avocado margarita. It pairs perfectly to cool your palate with the delightfully spicy food - I got the frizzled onions, chicken Milanese torta and chicken tacos which were all so flavorful and thoughtful. Cannot say enough good things about this new Greenpoint spot. We came with a birthday dinner of 6 and they were super accommodating for our reservation. Vibes and cocktails were top notch, food was beyond excellent. Highly recommend the sticky wings, corn ribs, torta chilaquiles but honestly everything we ate was delicious-- if going with a group, consider sharing a bunch of plates. This is more than a local Greenpoint bar for the neighborhood - Panzon has a menu and cocktail program that justifies taking 3 subways to experience the magic! Tucked away at the end of Greenpoint Ave., I was excited to see how Panzon elevates the traditional bar experience from the mood lighting, tasteful music and quirky art. After I had my snack and cocktail I watched the sunset at Transmitter Park...just a few steps away. I'll be back for more tuna tostadas and mezcal. read more

I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

"Panzón," meaning "potbellied" in English, couldn't be a more fitting name for this fantastic restaurant. If I keep coming here, I might just earn one myself! I'm seriously tempted to make it a habit, especially this summer. Mexican cuisine can be tricky to get right, but that's no problem for this gem in Greenpoint. Even though Cinco de Mayo would have been the perfect time to visit, my friend and I couldn't wait and went a week before. Thankfully, the food was still amazing. We started with the Ceviche, shared a Tuna Tostada, and indulged in the Shrimp Huarache. Every bite was delicious, making it hard to pick a favorite. Then came the Flank Steak. It was absolutely mouthwatering. We were tempted to order another but had to save room for dessert. The Tres Leches Cake is a must-try, and the one at Panzón did not disappoint. Despite the busy night, our waitress was attentive, even asking if we wanted more food or drinks before last call. Speaking of drinks, we tried the avocado margaritas, one of their signature cocktails. They surpassed all expectations. While it was too chilly to enjoy the back patio, the indoor dining area was spacious and clean. We'll definitely be back to experience both indoor and outdoor dining at Panzón. read more
