+ friendly staff, open late - poor taste, garlicy sauce Went here on a Saturday night. it's located in the University district, not the easiest to find. It's open late which I guess is a bonus. Parking is hard to find on the street. Upon entering, staff were very friendly, telling us which pizza came out of the oven recently. Most of the slices looked like they had been sitting there for awhile. We ordered a couple of freshly made slices ($4 each) which were the Canadian with bacon, mushrooms, and pepperoni. Slices are pretty big in size. They threw slices in he oven for 5 minutes. Upon them coming out, I took a bite of one and was not impressed. Crust was too crispy on the bottom (it's thin to begin with anyway). All I could taste was garlic in the sauce--gross. As if they just sprinkled cheap garlic powder in the sauce, it totally ruined the pizza. Toppings didn't seem of any good quality and did not taste fresh. I will not be going back.

Best place to go when you have $5 and need to stop that pizza craving. Late-night adventures, or after your workout at the UofT Athletic Centre, this place has your pizza desires covered. 2/5 - Venue 4/5 - Food 3/5 - Overall I dropped by after my workout at the AC across the street, as a friend recommended their massive slices. See my photo for the size of the slice, it's one quarter of a 14"-16" pizza. Definitely filled me up on a $5.50 slice and pop combo. Venue: The location is your typical unassuming late night pizza joint, and they run until about 3:00 to 4:00AM. This means what you think it means - the inside is pretty old and worn down. However the owners do manage a decent level of cleanliness, and the tables are not too bad. Just don't expect to be seated comfortably on metal grate chairs and in a dimly lit and dark room. Food: I had one slice of their meat lovers pizza, which had your usual pepperoni, ground meat, and bacon bits. The slice was massive, and will easily fill you up for lunch. They offer a selection of free dressings, like BBQ sauce, parmesan, hot sauce and herbs. The dough is nothing special, not as thin as others have compared to NY style pizza. The toppings are VERY generous, and the cheese is not sparse. However, the sauce is thinly spread, and whatever of it you can taste, it is lacking the sweet tomato flavor that comes with quality marinara. Overall: Great spot for cheap eats, and you will not leave hungry. Around $4 for just a slice, you will not be disappointed if you're hungry or out on a late night. Taste is similar quality to Pizza Pizza, but portions are larger. All around decent pizza joint.

Papa Ceo is very close to UofT so it's a convenient location for students. I had the deluxe pizza and it was a good slice. It was $4 with no tax. I would come back for a quick lunch between classes.

Mama-mia, papa-ria! Papa's is a university hot spot for late night greasy cravings. They have a wide selection of pizza, many named after Hollywood stars, like the Al Pacino. They also have a great selection for vegetarians and even a cheeseless pizza if that's your cup of tea. Papa behind the counter is super friendly, which is quite refreshing after a long day at work. There's a small tv in the back of the store, where you can sit (i think there's about 6 four seat tables), the tables themselves don't seem to be regularly cleaned - I think there the do-it yourself place, and the chairs aren't overly comfortable, but this isn't the type of place you sit and chill for a few hours. Overall their pizzas are pretty good. They aren't the greatest. Each slice is massive, a quarter of the pizza. The sauce is pretty good, but I've had better dough/crust elsewhere. For $7 you can get a slice of pizza and a beer, not bad for dinner! Each slice is around $4 on its own.

meat lover's, one slice is 1/4 of this massive pizza!!! only $5 with a drink!

I'd recommend the Tina Turner, Rambo for the meat lovers, or the Al Pacino.

Never would I think that Canada has pizza that rivals New York but was proven wrong when visiting…read morethis spot. The line was short during a late lunch on a weekday, and if we had planned better, we would have ordered ahead because you can skip the line. The service was a bit slow; we were thinking they could make so much more money if they just had a New Yorker taking orders, but it was worth the wait for some piping hot, crispy crust. We got a few slices; mushroom blanco (we tasted some truffle oil), a vodka one (all pizza should be made with this sauce instead), a marg and a pepperoni. All the spots were taken outside so we walked 2 minutes to a park and crushed our pieces there and saw a number of others so the same. We brought our empty pizza box back to patio outside the restaurant where they have a designated container for them.

Would come here more often and would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for the long wait time outdoors…read more Parking is also hard to find nearby. We waited for 45 mins on a Friday evening, and ended up getting a parking ticket that was issued 10 mins before we were leaving. But I guess their set up does live up to the "neighborhood pizza" vibe. Their pizza is the best though and I'm not much of a pizza girl. My favourite is the burrata marinara because I find it so unique. The burrata is creamy and go so well against the crispness of the pizza. The vodka slice had the most insane cheese pull and I love that it doesn't have a strong tomato/sour taste. Next time we'll probably order ahead and just get a box!

This place gets a solid 4.5/5 for its authentic southern Italian food and very friendly & attentive…read moreservice. It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

They have a great stock of wines and an impressive drink list that we don't get to enjoy as we can't handle drinks these days. We do enjoy the food and the friendly service immensely tho. Lots of options for shareable apps; excellent options on pizzas and pastas; and I am always impressed with their mains (as someone that has to limit carbs, options can be limited at some Italian restos). They are also understanding of reasonable diet requests. They have gluten-free options as well. It is more of a "quiet" restaurant in terms of the clientele chatter, at least for the times I was there, so I can hear the music they play ("oldies"!!!!)
