I'm so happy that PJ's finally came to Ridgecrest! We've ordered from PJ's twice and have had no issues. The first time we placed an order online and were expecting a long wait, since they recently opened but we received our order within an hour (they estimated an hour to hour and a half). We actually received a postcard in the mail for a free medium cheese pizza because our last delivery time didn't meet their expectations. The second time, we placed an order for pick up. The store is located next to Stater Bros. and is pretty small. But they do have three stools against the wall, should you want to eat there after you get your pizza. We were so surprised to see how many employees were there. I want to say I saw anywhere from 15-20 staff. The lady who rang us up and I think the store manager was so friendly and talkative. It was just so nice to see people enjoying what they do. Now the pizza... The thing I love about PJ's is no matter where you go, the pizza is gonna taste the same. Out of all the Cali pizza chains, PJ's is one of my fav. And I love how Pj's really sticks itself out by adding the delicious garlic sauce with a pepperoncini. My only advice is definitely opt for carry out. It'll take a lot shorter (15-20 min) of a time than delivery! read more

My family has gone to this Papa John's twice since they opened. The first time, our pick up total was higher than our online total and it was explained that one of the toppings was a 'specialty' topping and cost more. Uh..m'kay. Kinda thought that should have been mentioned, but whatever. Mistakes happen and things get missed. What tears it was tonite's order. My boyfriend's been ocd-ing over their new deep dish and finally got to order it. He also ordered an order of cinnamon pull aparts for pick up. His total was $17.32. After shopping, he realized he could either have dessert or gas to get home, but not both...so he canceled the pull aparts. His new total should have been a little over $11, yet when he got there, he was charged $14 and some change. He questioned that total but the employee helping him was rather evasive and he was in a hurry. He walked out feeling like he had just been overcharged. Had he been provided a receipt, he could have checked...but that didn't happen either. I told him to speak to the manager, but since a $3 discrepancy isn't really worth the trouble...we just won't come back. There are plenty more deserving restaurants in Ridgecrest. And by the way...the crust on a deep dish is supposed to be delightfully crispy. Not burnt. My super picky 20 month old, who normally scarfs down pizza, took one bite of the crust and spent the next 10 minutes trying to give it to our dog. read more

Have had 5 out of 6 pizzas get delivered with incorrect ingredients over the past few months. None are complex, just simple 2-3 toppings. Most recent was the valentines heart shaped pizza today that had one option, pepperoni. Showed up with out pepperoni. Seem to have a grudge against putting buffalo sauce on the buffalo chicken for whatever reason. Very unsatisfied with quality and reliability. The pizzas were decent tasting but still not correct as ordered and paid for. Sticker on the box even shows the the correct order. Not sure how this can be messed up so efficiently. Can only assume this establishment has repeat customers due to a lack of options in this small town. read more

My dad ordered pizza from them and the App said it was delivered but it was never delivered to him. When he called, they argued with him and the delivery driver got an attitude and said he delivered it at the door, rang the doorbell twice, and knocked. We can see the front porch clearly from where we had been sitting for the last 30 minutes and nobody approached the door with a pizza. He didn't do that at my dads house, so he clearly delivered it to the wrong address. After arguing with my dad for a few minutes, they decided to re-make his pizza and and told him it would be 45-60 minutes. My dad said that was kind of bull since he should have had his pizza by now. The last three times we have ordered from Papa John's Pizza went from bad to totally unacceptable. The first, about six months ago, we received a cold pizza that wasn't even what we had ordered, the person on the phone swore the order was correct and said to "just nuke it for a few minutes" before slamming down the phone. We waited a few months and then ordered again, this time half of the pizza was correct, but the pie was cold and congealed. When the cost came through on my credit card it was $15 more than the quote, and the driver had not been given the prepaid delivery fee and tip. The "new manager" said the old one had put the charge in and it couldn't be changed. We know the driver, so don't doubt the delivery charge went to the wrong person. The other day, foolish us, the order was in person at the store so we felt the chance of actually getting what we wanted was fairly good. Wrong! Although told it would take 10-15 minutes, the box was presented 28 minutes later and the contents looked overly sauced. However, with family waiting at home, we accepted the pie. It turned it that the "extra" sauce was actually not extra but covered the lack of ingredients. What toppings there were, mainly vegetables, had obviously been cut in a hurry and just dumped on a small section of the whole. Perhaps it had been left to someone else who would even things out when the thing was sliced, but we will never know as the slicing was only partially through the pie and our pizza cutter wouldn't separate the slices. We've never ordered delivery from the Pizza Factory, although we frequently enjoy their food. I suspect that will change as I cannot imagine making another effort with Papa John's. read more

Ordered online used discounts and went into the Store to pay and pick up. Used the Burros discount card and came out to be more expensive so instead of saying it's cheaper without the card the manager still charged the more expensive price. Didn't realize till I was already home and called them to let them know and instead of trying to adjust price or anything helpful Memphis ( the manager) says well unfortunately there's nothing I can do. Once I got mad and said so basically you're telling me to effing bad There's nothing you can do. How about I drive there and return everything for a refund. Then he says well you can drive here and I can adjust the price and give you a better discount. At that point I'm already irritated and said no thanks I'll save on gas and just not come there anymore. The person slicing /preparing pizza had his mask on his chin instead of his nose and mouth, the delivery person walking in the kitchen without a mask as well, so no I definitely do not recommend getting food there during covid 19. read more

Delivery time was quoted 60-70 minutes... ok, I'll be patient and wait. 90 minutes later, I called to ask the status and (after holding for 3 minutes) I was told the wait times were wrong online and should be 2 -2.5 hours. This business has serious production issues. I cancelled the order and placed the same order at Pizza Factory. $16 for the same pizza at a 30 minutes wait seems more reasonable. read more

This is one of a couple pizza places in town that make a vegan pizza. Unfortunately it's just a plain vegetable pizza without cheese. However they always get it right. Delivery is fast and friendly. When I received my order my wings had no sauce on them as well as dipping cups not inside either of the boxes, My pizza came with no garlic, the caramel pull apart had no caramel & lastly I didn't get my soda, 2 marinara and 5!!!! 15 minutes after I place my order online I received a phone call. When I answer this phone call I said hello a few times with no response except for the sound of someone yelling at someone else in the background eventually the lady working decided to say hello and ask me if I had placed the order, having never identified herself as a Papa John's employee or even stating her name. She then began telling me that the only driver they have is on an hour break, or a 45 minute break, or an hour break she was not quite sure. She then asked me if I wanted to just wait, or if I wanted to just come pick it up. I told her that I did not want to wait and that I would just order from somewhere else. Don't fall for the coupons! I attempted to use a coupon that had NO expiration date, only to find out the coupon was no longer valid. I called the store, they told me to call the 1800 number. So I did, and they said the coupon should have had an expiration date printed. So how is that my fault? I didn't make the mistake. Usually I order and go pick up in 15 min and it's hot and ready. Recently I've gotten free pizzas from using Visa Checkout too! It wasn't even warm when got it. I didn't call them to complain about it because I redeemed points and it was free. I did fill out the survey and gave them a bad rating. I get a call from the store manager and was impressed by the way she handled it. She offered me 2 large pizzas at no cost for my trouble. A 3.25 delivery charge and then they tell you that does not go to the driver and please tip. Between delivery charge and tip it ran the cost to just under 30$. (For a pizza?) Slightly above average pizza for gourmet pizza prices. Papa John's supposedly uses fresh ingredients, which I do appreciate, although honestly, I couldn't really tell. There is still a very distinct difference between Papa John's pizza and pizza you get at a true gourmet pizza place. To be quite honest, their pizza doesn't taste that much different than Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, etc, but you still end up paying a premium for it. My total came to $29 for a two topping extra large pizza and breadsticks (not including delivery). Simply put, I don't think the value is there. Beware the so-called Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza -- what they show on tv is NOT what you actually get! They show lots of tomatoes and lots of pickles - Not so! Our pizza had miniscule amounts of each and the "bacon" is not bacon - it's bacon bits that come in a jar! Couple days ago ordered their so-called bacon cheeseburger pizzas - It was awful !!!!!!! When i think of a cheeseburger, tomatoes onions meat and bacon come to mind. Well, there was some crumbled meat for the beef, no onions. Where the tomatoes were - they must've run away because only got very few pieces of diced tomato (not even slices). Where was the bacon? Never did taste bacon - oh, on one slice there was a couple of pieces of those imitation bacon bits - but the rest of the pizza was devoid of them. And the cheese? It was that yellow-orangey stuff (like cheeze whiz or that stuff that places pump over chips to call them nachos. To me what they advertised and what I got were two totally different things - false advertising to me! Placed order early in the day to be picked up. Despite that, I still waited 20 minutes! Good pizza but make sure to order online or through phone app so you can always use their special offers and coupons otherwise you will probably end up paying 30 to 40 percent more for your order without coupons or special offers. Pizza is great and staff is usually good but due to the nature of the business there is usually someone new and in training at any given time. Wait times aren't bad compared to the rush when they first opened. Online ordering could use some help because they told us or address doesn't exist but that's ok we just put the wrong one in and always select carryout because we are out of their delivery area anyways. read more

I've ordered delivery from PJs before, and as military, shown the driver my ID, received the discount which has always been so nice, especially for a large family. CA isn't known for its military support, discounts, etc., so when we find the rare business that does something like this, we support it as often as possible. Tonight, however, I was informed (albeit very politely) by the manager that a month ago the owner changed policy - now you can only receive the military discount if you are living on the base.
