Oreo Ice Cream and Reese's Ice Cream

This place is just great! I've had some really delicious pizza in OC/LA areas, so when I came to this small town I did not think anything in town could top that. However, John's Pizzas are made to perfection every single time I stop by! It's literally like the pizza you see in the Goofy movie!! When you pull a slice apart the cheese doesn't rip right away, it's crazy! But I don't think it's a bad thing at all. The service is incredible. They are ALWAYS so sweet and helpful and patient with me, my family, & friends. Also, the honey butter is DELICIOUS with the breadsticks. The Oreo ice cream is my favorite but they have many flavored options to choose from. I would 10/10 recommend this place for birthdays, quick dinners, lunches, etc. they have a great menu and different pizza size options to choose from. & the food is just amazing! The overall restaurant is clean and very spacious & they have a nice arcade for the kids.

Servers were nice but the food was extremely disappointing. Salad was okay. Pizza was undercooked / doughy and the toppings fell off everytime we tried to grab a slice. Ordered breadsticks we never got. Nachos were the worst of all. Not a single whole chip on the entire plate, they dumped the bottom of the bag onto the plate so it was full of crumbs, toppings added that I asked to not be on there, gross canned plasticky cheese, and the portion was tiny. Even my kids wouldn't eat it. I expected much more for the high price, not worth it at all!

Dry and hard bread sticks from John's Pizza

On 7/14/25 I called in for 2 orders of bread sticks, 2 cheeses & 2 honey butter. I live about 30 minutes away from them. I called in my order once i got into town, they told me it would be about 20 minutes. It was around 7 pm, they close at 8. I didn't bother to check them for freshness. Big mistake, they were hard and dry. The restaurant was already closed when I realized this. I waited until the next day to call and complain. The person I talked to told me that because I didn't check them when I got them and didn't call when I got them that they couldn't do anything about it. I asked the girl, "Am I supposed to check my items for freshness before I leave?" Her reply, "Yes, or you could ask us to do it." So, needless to say, I told her she won't be getting my business again. They sure have gone down hill from 2 years ago when I left a review on their page. I will be letting friends know about this experience.

    The house pizza

John's Pizza was a surprise find in Ridgecrest. Pizza crust was super soft with really good sauce and toppings. The service was very friendly and efficient. Would return if I am in the area.

For those old school high desert folks, we decided to make the trek to Ridgecrest to travel back in time and reminisce about the good old days of John's Pizza. The taste of the breadsticks, pizza and home made ice cream brought us back to the 80's when life was good...food, service and ambiance were all great!

Went back and ordered pasta, chicken caeser salad, a pizza, and another dipping sauce for the weird breadsticks. I wish Gordon Ramsey would have been at this meal with me cuz I don't know the right words to say how disappointing this food was. Fettuccine Alfredo add chicken ($4.95 for the add-on) was served cold, and the portion was small for $16.75. The chicken was a little small handful of dry, pre-diced, sad pieces of chicken. The chicken caeser salad was the same size as the pasta, with the same pathetic little handful of dry chicken kibble on top and for some reason the dressing was on the side-- if I had known they don't toss their caeser salad, I'd have requested it tossed. However, that ramekin of what they call caeser dressing told on itself. It was soybean oil goop and made for the worst caeser salad I've ever had. The pizza was OK but bland and not worth the price when Pizza Hut makes better pizza cheaper. My bill was $94 for a bunch of disrespect as consumers. We will only come back for the arcade which is fun (and maybe a banana split). Service was pleasant.

Be so serious. We are literally 7 miles away. So somehow your system can take our order, charge us, and waste almost an hour of our time... but nobody realized we were "too far" until the very last second? Right. Then when we explained that we had been drinking and couldn't drive, the employee got rude and acted like that was somehow our problem to figure out. Sorry, but if you advertise delivery maybe customers expect... delivery? Crazy concept, I know. The attitude was honestly worse than the mistake itself. Talking over us, refusing to help, refusing to let us speak to a manager, and then hanging up on us like middle schoolers working a prank call line instead of an actual business. And after all that? The ONLY thing they did was refund the order. No apology, no credit, no "hey sorry we completely wasted your night." Nothing. We sat around hungry for almost an hour just to get attitude and a dial tone. If your delivery radius can't handle someone 7 miles away, maybe fix the app instead of blaming customers after the fact. This place seriously needs better management and employees who know how to speak to people without acting annoyed that they have to do their jobs.

Maybe this is a brand new crew and manager? The lady who seems like a manager was accommodating and energetic. I'm hoping she can turn this place around. I ordered the big dinner box that comes with two pizzas, wings, and breadsticks. We also ordered the new My Hut Box with a personal pizza and fries. Their breadsticks are the absolute worst I've ever had. The wings that were supposedly spicy garlic were neither spicy nor garlicky. They did not come with a side of dipping sauce, which seemed wrong but when I asked they said they don't come with sauce. I checked their website later and found that to be wrong-- they were supposed to give me sauce for the wings according to the current promo. The pizza was good. The drink cups are small but they charged me for "large" and said it's because we get free refills. Their drink choices are severely lacking. So, $6.38 for two "large" fountain drinks is completely ridiculous. They should have no right charging so much for something they buy for nickels. There was no trash receptacle in the dining area. The bathrooms require a key. You have to ask for everything (straw, more napkins, anything) at the counter, or when they bring your order to your table. Nothing is out there for your convenience at all. This all equates to a disappointing dine in experience. They need to make this place much more inviting and accommodating. And please put up a dang menu with prices for us to see plain and clear for crying out loud. Stop doing the bare minimum, Hut.

The interior is pretty dark, with black and white decor - they removed the rustic charm from Schooners without really adding any improvements imo. The chicken caesar salad I had my first visit was not very good, the chicken was clearly from frozen. However the buffalo chicken fries my table shared were pretty good. My second visit I got the buffalo chicken wrap which I enjoyed, but the service that visit was awful. They seemed severely understaffed, and it took over an hour from when we sat down to when we got our food. Overall probably won't be trying here again for a while.

It's nice that there is a restaurant in town with fresh fish. Our server was awesome. We were going to a tiki themed place (which you should 100% try to find if you are in town) afterwards and the server shared some cool info about it when we mentioned it. I ordered fish and chips, against my better judgement, and it was just OK. I'm a fan of beer batter that builds up more than a thin crust on the fish, and this wasn't that. On top of that, the cod was a little over cooked (a bit of a theme for the other Ale's as well). That said, the flavor profile was good and their tartar sauce was on point. I had the option for seasoned fries or steak fries and opted for the steak fries to save some sodium intake. I'd probably shorten my life slightly and get the seasoned fries next time. My wife had a salad that was very similar to the other Ale's -- lots of iceberg lettuce and overcooked chicken. We also had the clam chowder, which had a good consistency but was just a touch fishy. I still enjoyed it, though. They have a pretty good selection of beer and other drinks, as well. The decor is informal and overall I liked the place. Between the two Ale's I'd probably give a slight nod to the original, but they are very similar restaurants other than the focus on seafood here.
