It was pouring rain when we got here, but it felt warm and inviting. Only one person was on duty for six tables. She was doing an excellent job getting food out, cashing out bills, and seating new patrons. She did have a helper bussing the tables. We didn't wait long for a table. The menu is limited and by having a limited menu, they can concentrate on having the best tasting food offered. We four had burgers that were thick, juicy, and delicious! We ordered sweet potato fries and onion rings for the table. They were incredible, too. All four of us were full without being stuffed.

I was already on board with this place when I saw they served deviled eggs, but when I walked downstairs and caught the vibe I was all in. My cocktail was delish (can't remember exactly what it was sadly) and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her old fashioned. We started with the deviled eggs which were quite yummy - traditional preparation topped with a bit of paprika. We both ordered the Cowboy burger which was top notch albeit a tad dry. Some days are like that. Ordered the sweet potato fries, but got the regular fries. Normally I would say something to the server, but I decided to take a taste. The French fry gods definitely smiled on me with this mistake because these fries were outta this world. All in all, an excellent experience. Will go back next time I'm in Brevard and keep supporting local non-chain businesses.

We are visiting from out of town and wanted to do a couples night out. We parked on the street and panicked a little when we didn't see in on the Main Street. Then I noticed a little doorway and realized we needed to go downstairs. How cool! I loved the set up and there was a big TV by our table so we could watch the game. The menu is not big but if you like burgers and wings, this is your place. They even have cauliflower wings! They were out of the sauce I wanted so I got the bourbon BBQ and it was good. The guys both ordered the Mac attack burger and loved it. We also tried their regular fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings and homemade chips. So good! Our waitress was sweet and attentive. Two reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5. First, the cauliflower was cold on the inside and the waitress said they didn't have a microwave so they'd have to remake a new batch. I figured since it was a vegetable and not raw chicken, I'd just eat it. But they should make sure they've cooked it long enough. Second, you don't get a side with your burger...so you pay $12 for a burger and then $5 for a side. Overall, we liked it a lot and would go back

    Dude, this place is fantastic!

ONLY reason this doesn't get 5 stars is it's just a bit expensive. Aside from that, this place is fantastic! It kind of feels like discovering a speakeasy; the entrance is a bit hidden, just a door to their basement space quietly sitting between two other storefronts. Building on the speakeasy feel, all you see through their main door is the smallish restaurant and bar area, very cozy feel with art from local artists all over. If you turn left you'll see there's a whole other room that more than doubles the space and is set up for concerts, pool, darts and more. The food is really tasty! Definitely recommend the jalapeño poppers which are wrapped in bacon instead of breaded. The wings are the perfect blend of crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. And be sure to check out their drink specials. They like to experiment with unique cocktails that turn out amazing. This will be a must-visit when visiting Brevard!

Wowzers, decisions, decisions. This was our first trip and will definitely not be our last. We were torn between wings or burgers and this time the burgers won. The jalapeños are fantastic and have a kick to them. The Mac 'n Cheese burgers are delicious. Sweet potato fries with the maple dipping sauce is a MUST. In addition to the wings, you can also get cauliflower bites with any of the sauces, looking forward to trying those next time. We didn't leave room for dessert but the fried honeybun and banana pudding are on the list for next time. I kinda had dessert first because I ordered the Pumpkin Spice White Russian.....YUM! The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Heads up - you have to use stairs (about 15) to go down from the sidewalk. I don't know if there is handicap accessibility.

Overall: Quick service. Food was delicious. BBQ Pork on a bun sandwich basket, which includes two sides. Hot, fresh tender pork in the Eastern style (vinegar base). Fries were crisp and hot, hush puppies were crispy, sweet and had a hint of salt. Eastern brined vinegar pork was tender, juicy and filling. No need for toppings! Located on the turn into Pisgah National State park, Hawg is clearly a favorite, and placed in just the right spot to bring in locals and tourists alike. Even on the 4th of July with crowds surging there was plenty of room and plenty of good food. I opted for to-go and only waited for 15 minutes (at 2pm.) It was still delicious, hot, and fresh. The Eastern basket, as it was called, included a BBQ pork sandwich on a bun and two sides. The marinated pork and drizzle of extra vinegar was plenty to flavor this delicious sandwich. A side of their fresh fries and hushpuppies rounded out the meal. With plenty of BBQ favorites including Ribs, burgers, brisket, and fried chicken, a hearty, delicious, filling, and quick meal feels perfect after visiting the nearby Pisgah park and relaxing on the river in an inter-tube on a beautiful summer day. Also, visit Dolly's Dairy Bar across the way for a tasty ice cream treat or The Pisgah Tavern at The Hub for plenty of on tap ice cold drinks.

And they…read moresay the ribs are good, that's not a good BBQ restaurant because every BBQ restaurant is good at ribs. This was the worst beef brisket I have ever had. It was threads of meat doused in sauce before it got to the table. They replaced it with pork BBQ which was average, but not enough reason for me to come back. I went here years ago and forgot how bad it was.

What I like about Plaza Garabalbi is the family atmosphere. The owner will come to your table and ask about your day with genuine interest. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. When I was dressed up for a job interview once, my cashier gave me a free peppermint patty for luck. Little things like that mean a lot. I have never had to wait for a table no matter what time of day or how busy they were and the food has always been excellent. The decor is standard (paintings of rural Hispanic life, sombreros, mexican flags, futbol on the wide screens) and the expected mariachi music plays, but I enjoy the familiarity and comfort of PG. They just added some intricate carved wood tables to the bar dining area, so that will definitely set them further apart from the rest of the pack. Sink your teeth into a chicken - chorizo platter and feel like you are dining in a home away from home just north of the Southernmost border. It may not be your idea of fine Mexican dining, but everything about PG is just fine with me.
