Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet because it's our go-to spot for pizza! If you love thin crust pizza, you'll love this place too. They're always generous with the toppings, and if you order a larger pizza you get free garlic bread or you can upgrade to Mama's garlic bread for just a small extra charge, which is definitely worth it. The salads are also generously sized. I honestly haven't explored much beyond the pizza, but the menu has many Italian favorites. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with comfortable seating and Italian music playing in the background. The service is consistently great every time we visit. Last night we ate at Papa Luigi's for the first time. I've been meaning to go there for a while now and boy, am glad I did. F irst of all, there is a city lot in the rear with ample parking. The restaurant opens at 4, and we got there around 4:30 and there were plenty of open tables but it really started to fill up fast. We also saw that this place does tons of carry out (mostly pizzas). Service was really quick. We had a server named Autumn and she was excellent. I asked her if the pasta was freshly made in house and she said yes. Portions were huge, literally enough for three meals. I got the spaghetti and meatballs, and my friend got the chicken parmesan. Both dinners came with soup or salad and two pieces of garlic bread. Both were great choices. My meatballs (2) were humongous but my friends chicken parm looked delicious. I thought the prices were reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get. It's one of my favorite places for a solid thin crust pizza. I always get it extra crispy. Beyond pizza I've tried different pasta dishes plus their breaded beef sandwich and everything was outstanding. Usually don't dine in but service is always quick and friendly. Plus they have a bonus point system where you get free things. The eggplant strips and the mozzarella sticks are definitely worthy. The mozzarella sticks are different. Picked up a 16 '' pizza. Pepperoni and cheese. Paid $26.00 for double cheese and was not on it. Thin crust was paper thin and pepperoni was paper thin. The box wiegh more then the pizza. Was craving pizzas and decided to try a place I hadn't yet. This brought me to Papa Luigi's. I ordered a 14" pepperoni and sausage with some extra cheese. I also ordered a Cookie Butter Banana Cream Pie. Yes, you read that right; heaven on a plate. And yes, you also read that right, it was most certainly heavenly. My tastebuds were singing hallelujah. Was the food worth it?! Absolutely not! This small slice of pie cost me $14!!! It was still delicious. Do I regret it? Yes! But I was doing a happy dance. Hands down, not worth it at all. Should you try it? Yes. But it's not worth it. So delicious though. Like for real. So good. The pizza and the pie were so yum. Not worth it. But definitely give it a try! Papa Luigi's Tiramisu: Papa Luigi's opened in 1982 by founder Sal Purpora. He's since passed running the business on to one of his sons, but they still use Sal's mom's Sicilian recipes. The restaurant has plenty of menu options, but I'm skipping to dessert. I'm told tiramisu translates to "pick me up" or "cheer me up" and it certainly did. Its origins are disputed to be from the Italian regions of Veneto or Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is a coffee flavored dessert made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee or espresso, layered with a sweet, whipped mascarpone cream, and flavored with cocoa. As it is made with coffee there is caffeine in it, but it is a miniscule amount as typically only a half cup of coffee is used for an entire cake (and this is just one piece). I've never had a dessert with a texture quite like tiramisu. It's difficult to describe, but it is rather interesting. It has some cake-like properties to it, but it's "spongier" and there are the layers of whipped cream. I say spongy, but soggy might be more accurate as it's dipped in coffee/espresso. The whipped cream is my favorite part as it's sweet, rich, and pairs perfectly with the more bitter flavor of coffee. If you love coffee and dessert than tiramisu is a must try. Doughboy approved. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! This is our go to pizza place. The pepperoni pizza is my favorite. Not only is the pizza delicious but they also have great pasta dishes! The servings are quite large. Our family recently used them for catering our Christmas celebration for 18 people. I worked with Janet and she was great. I called within 30 seconds to correct the order, but the person on the phone said they couldn't change it because it was already made. There's no way it was prepared in just 30 seconds. We order from here regularly, spending $50-$100 every week during summer pool parties. It's disappointing to lose a customer due to such inflexibility. She apologized that our soup and salad took a few minutes, but we were still eating our appetizer (the Eggplant and Cheesy bread ) so we didn't care. Food was so good! A loyal customer no more. Ordered on the phone. Large pizza & 2 side salads. I order the same order about 2x month. On 1 occasion the salads were brown and wilted and the pizza which is supposed to be "thin crust" looked like a deep dish crust. Very disappointed. Today asked if I could get another dressing (small takeout cup) and was told rudely that I would be charged extra. Ashley the so called "manager" was very rude and condescending. Fairly popular on a Saturday. We started with the eggplant appetizer and it was very bland and greasy. The soup was bland and tasted like canned as well and the tiny pasta was very over-boiled and far from A la dente. The pizza was ok but not unique, but probably the best part of the dinner. The Spiedini also fell short of expectations- it was coarse and not very tasty. I actually threw out my leftovers. We decided to host a surprise birthday and retirement party for my dad at Papa Luigi's after meeting with their coordinator Janet and discussing what we envisioned for the party. From the start, Papa Luigi's was so accommodating to everything we wanted -- 60+ people, pizza/pasta buffet, drink tickets for guests and to bring in our own dessert. Today was the party and it could not have gone better! They had the room set up when we arrived and had ideas for some of our decorations. The servers and bartenders assigned to our group were so attentive! The food came out right on time and consisted of a salad, garlic bread, baked mostacolli, and assorted pizzas and man did they keep the food coming! Our guests all loved the food and said they plan to come back. They also enjoyed the bloody mary bar. The servers kept clearing tables and even offered to cut our cakes for us! They also encouraged us to bring out leftovers home and gave us to go containers. The party went off without a hitch and my dad was so happy and our guests left full! i cannot recommend Papa Luigi's enough if you are looking to host a party or if you just want to grab a fish fry on Fridays or some yummy Italian food. read more
