I have driven past this place for years and decided to give them a try because I was craving an Italian beef dipped/hot which is the only way I order Italian beef. The place itself is a little step up from a cheap looking fast food but nothing fancy with booths/tables and window seating. The woman who took my order was nice and did a great job. The menu is pasta, pizza, sandwiches, appetizers etc but I'm there for the Italian beef dipped/hot. The Italian beef looked great and meaty with the giardiniera peppers on the side. After the first couple of bites I'm thinking that this is the driest dipped beef sandwich I have ever had and how could this be because it looks dipped at first glance. Aah I see what is going on here, see my pictures because only the bread was quickly dipped and than sliced, topped with the dry beef that was not directly pulled from Au Jus. The half that I took with me that sat in my car for an hour didn't even have enough Au Jus to wet the top of the bread, thats how dry it was, see my picture. The Italian beef sandwich had great potential if it was dipped whole, Chicago style but it was not executed properly and was completely average at best. The Italian beef here will not replace my favorite place which I should went to. If you get an Italian Beef here ask them to dip the whole sandwich which will make it much more enjoyable. read more

Why ohh why can't 3.5 stars be a rating? I had been craving fettuccine alfredo for days. And last night I was also very committed to the couch and the wearing of stretchy pants. I've never had food from Mario's before and saw that they would deliver fettuccine alfredo to my house. Honey, you don't have to tell me twice. Sold. I'm so glad that I did because this is easily some of the best fettuccine alfredo in life. It tastes homemade. It tastes of actual cheese. It was so yumm! I even started to yumm out loud. Even the pasta was cooked perfectly. I'm definitely putting my stretchy pants back on for this! I also ordered wings. Don't do what I did. Wings are not their specialty. I liked the type of preparation but they were really overcooked and dry. The cheesecake brownie is really good. I ordered the food off of a meal delivery service however the restaurant itself delivers the purchase. No big deal but the ETA given by the food delivery service was not determined by the restaurant itself and there was a lot of variance between the time given and when food actually arrived. read more

I decided to order from Marios's on a whim. I really enjoy food and make an effort to eat as many places as possible while most importantly supporting local eats. We ordered the Shrimp Alfredo Chicken parm And, cheesy garlic bred The shrimp Alfredo came with shell on but no tails. So it was quite frustrating to eat. In addition to this it says you're paying $4 for 6 pieces of shrimp. I received 9 pieces of VERY VERY small shrimp that were not fresh in the slightest and quite fishy in addition to being INCREDIBLY over cooked. It was honestly an insult to the rest of the meal since I can tell there is very sincere attention payed to the crafting of the Alfredo. It was creamy, rich, and delicious; clearly this is a labor of love and is home made. The chicken parm was soggy and clearly made from frozen chicken, but again the flavor profile was COMPLETELY THERE! Unfortunately the breading was soggy and lacking sufficient amounts of cheese. The cheesy garlic bred was decent. It was heavily buttered and equally heavily coated in cheese. While the cheese was melted it was barely done so. Instead I feel like the cheese should have been slightly crisped and bubbling. More over, the marinara sauce was poorly made, lacked flavor, and was incredibly viscous. So much so that it was like dipping bred in water instead of a well cultivated sauce. Overall I'm on the fence about referring people to eat at this establishment. While I enjoyed the Alfredo it seemed to be the ONLY saving grace of this entire order. I sincerely hope the establishment makes improvements on the quality of ingredients they use in an attempt to elevate an already solid foundation of a product they offer. read more

This was a very great experience. The family really enjoyed the time we spent here. At first I was a bit skeptical but wow. I'm glad they proved me wrong. First we sat for a little bit. Not for the order to be taken but to receive the food. I was thinking this was going to be the run of the mill heating up frozen pizza and pasta. When The food came out it was all fresh ingredients. And oh so tasty. I'm not really big on Alfredo but this was awesome. It was freshly made and didn't come from a jar. You could smell the garlic wafting up. Mmmm. I ordered the Fish Fry and was stunned by what was delivered. Overcooked fish sticks that they didn't even bother to separate before cooking. As you can see by the pictures, when I broke it open , by being stuck together, the breading isn't even cooked inside & was disgusting. I should have taken a picture of it in my trash, uneaten. Mario's Italian Grill used to be really good but since the new owners took over they are going down ! I ordered a chicken avocado salad and what used to be amazing was a sad dish. The lettuce was wilted, the tomatoes were mushy, the whole salad had a rotten taste. They have raised their prices. Their 10 piece chicken wings used to be$8.95 are now $12.95. The breaded mushrooms used to fill a large to go container. Now they give you half what you used to get filling a small to go container. It's very disappointing. We were huge fans but not anymore. Pleasant surprise Despite the not so great reviews on here I decided to try Marios. The delivery was prompt. The service was friendly. The food....was great! I am not sure why people were down on this place. Is it a 5 star Italian restaurant? No, but you are not ordering delivery from a 5 star Italian restaurant. We tried the spaghetti and meatballs, a cheeseburger, and the Italian beef sandwich. All had great flavor and were very good. Mario's ain't so bad. It's not fancy, but the pasta is relatively decent and the prices aren't too bad. They're good for some no frills Italian food late at night. I've had the spaghetti, the chicken cacciatore, the chicken and ribs, and they've all been good meals. My girlfriend is a big fan of their Alfredo. Their portion sizes are huge, so it's easy to eat for two days on an order of pasta. I've never managed to try their pizza, but I hope to give it a shot someday. The only reservation I have is the flavor of their meatballs. I'm sure they have their merits, but they had a weird flavor that neither I or my girlfriend could place our fingers on. I wasn't a big fan, but with their menu the meatballs are easy enough to avoid. The fried appetizers could be better (they're likely the frozen stuff from Cisco or some other supply company), but I've also had a lot worse. I've only ever done delivery from Mario's. They have a pretty large delivery area and they're always on time. It's not the place I would use to introduce Milwaukee to an out-of-town visitor that I wanted to impress, but for reasonably priced eats on the south side Mario's does pretty good. read more

I don't know what people are complaining about! I had a pretty good experience. We ordered the managers special pizza off grubhub and got a free order of garlic bread. The pizza was a 12" and the garlic bread was like 12" of French bread toasted on each side, for two big pieces. The pizza was delicious and I'm a pizza snob. The sauce seemed homemade; robust with a slight sweetness to it and tomatoes in it. The toppings consisted of sausage, onions, and mushrooms. The veggies were fresh and the sausage was good and flavorful. The cheese is real cheese and a lot of it. The thin crust was good and clearly hand made. The food came in less than 45 minutes on a Saturday night and was hot. Our whole order, including tip, tax, and delivery fee was less than $19. I'll order from them again for sure. read more

Despite some of the negative reviews I took a chance on a Friday night and ordered fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. They do charge more for your choice of additions and even water is not provided unless it's bottled (and costs extra). All told, I paid about $16. I sat down in the dining room and waited a normal amount of time to be served. The food was brought out to me nice and hot. The Alfredo sauce was definitely home made and the shrimp would be classified as small. The taste was very good and the atmosphere was acceptable. While I believe the cost was slightly high, service was provided in such a way that no tips are really expected. Overall, I believe this to be a decent value for quality food. Bro. I was like no way this is going to be good. If you're like me you're highly skeptical, and I certainly was after having tried another restaurant of a similar concept with similar fare. Ribs good (not tough at all, maybe needs a little more sauce). Side Salad ok half crisp half a little floppy. Even the garlic bread was pretty good. French fries, totally edible, not soggy. Did it blow my mind? Well yeah, sort of. Not because the food was incredible, its because it wasn't terrible by far! Seriously that's all I ask for, just be like edible, and it was. I ate everything, and I was never like "dammit I'm going to have to throw this away". I never thought "man this tastes somewhat similar to a cigarette". Nope, I was like wow this tastes like food. Price was reasonable, food was reasonable, I gave it a 4 but honestly I'd even give it like a 4.375 at least. Now lets be real, maybe I got lucky. Things could vary from day to day. Just picked up a Marios pizza. I'm allergic to pork products, and guess what? There delicious meat sausage, peperoni, and ham are all made without port! The taste is wonderful. The cheese is thick without ordering extra and the sauce is perfect! I've also had their salad, its outstanding and a meal in itself. Marios has no pork products in their menu. The menu is full and delicious. The staff, including delivery staff is very personal, quick, and friendly. My best friend has been ordering from Marios for the last year. Some people have started out their reviews questioning why this place has such a low star rating. They seemed shocked that Mario's Italian Grill can actually be disliked. I read all the reviews and gave this place the benefit of the doubt, I suspect that the positive reviews have either been purchased, or this place is like that shitty relationship we've all had where opposite the way things should be, it occasionally has a rare good day. Why do I say this? Easy, the pizza is terrible. I live in Bay View and am surrounded by pizza places that have consistently good ratings, because their food is delicious, the problem is that in the case of Tenuta's, they don't deliver, or with Classic Slice, they're prices are higher than their employees (Actually now it's pretty much all the pizza places in Bay View charge you higher than need be prices for mediocre pizza now, and that kinda sucks, but at least they taste shades better than Mario's Italian Grill). Opening the box and looking at the pizza was misleading, it actually looked like it would be good, but it wasn't and here's why. The cheese is some low grade tasteless concoction presented thickly as if they threw a block of cheese on a lightly sauced overly doughy crust, and cooked it until the cheese was a thickly melted mess, that they then spread over the the pie, pushing all the sauce to the ends of the pieces, giving it an illusion that you would have toppings, cheese, sauce, and dough, in every slice. This is not the case, because they the put a few toppings on the cheese. and didn't check to see if the dough was actually done. You get a mushy slice of pizza with tastless thick cheese, NO sauce, and undercooked crust, with a few scattered toppings that might be there more for looks than anything. So from now on I'm going to call this place Mario's Shitalian Grill. Skip this place, you'll get a tastier pizza from Domino's. read more

I highly doubt it was authentic Italian food. I ordered (thru GrubHub) the Appetizer Combo--2 jalapeno poppers, 3 mozzarella sticks, 2 mac&cheese bites, & 2 chicken tenders and a load of UNsalted fries. I also ordered their Chicken Cacciatore--"Chicken breast smothered in mushrooms, green peppers, onions & our homemade tomato sauce served on a bed of pasta". I surely did NOT see any mushrooms, green peppers or onions. "Chicken breast"?? It clearly was not chicken breast...it was their chicken tenders instead.
