I've always meant to try their pizza, decided to pull in today and see what they had for slices! It's sort of like Ian's, or maybe Ian's is like them? They had maybe 8 pies ready to choose from, pick what you want and they heat them up in the oven. The slices are large and thin. 11am-5pm they have their lunch special which includes two pieces of your choice (excluding stuffed), 2 garlic knots and a fountain soda for $9.50. That's a pretty good deal, especially depending on what slices you pick. The pricing varies when you buy individually but not with the special! A perfect amount of food to share with someone you don't mind sharing a soda with. The employee I spoke to was friendly and patient as I decided what to get. The interior reminds me of college vibes, totally casual with art and written stuff on the walls. I chose to get it to go so didn't really stare too long. The pizza was pretty okay, the crust was good too. Garlic knots, eh, not my favorite but not horrible. Just more bread to eat and for me I don't want a ton of that if I'm eating a pizza that isn't thin crust. I got a side of ranch and it wasn't special, tastes like any store ranch. Awesome. Love how cheap and good it is. Shared the lunch special with my bf and it was great. Every time I come here the employees are super energetic and welcoming but also leave you to your space once you have your order. It's a very cool place to eat with all the graffiti on the wall which is fun to look at/read while eating. This is my second time here and it feels better than the first which is rare for a pizza place. The pizza was nice and thin, almost NY style, and well greased haha. Had Sal's for the first time last week. This is everything I want in a pizza. Large, foldable slices (aka New York Style) with a sweet sauce. We ordered double the sauce which I highly recommend or else it might be a bit dry for some. Good amount of cheese and great pepperoni. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks. Excellent. Little fat logs of breaded cheese fried to perfection. In one meal, Sal's may have become my favorite pizza in the city. read more

I stopped here for lunch after seeing pizza by the slice on the main sign but the parking lot only had two cars so I'm thinking that this could be a bad sign. The place is a little ghetto with writing and drawings all over the walls. The deal with this place is it does par baked various pizzas that you choose from and they finish it off in the pizza oven. I was going to get two slices of pizza before I walked in and saw this set up. I went with the sausage and pepperoni slice that came with a little garlic roll knot/twist thing. First off the pizza slice was super fu%king annoying because the crust was so limp that it took a nose dive when you picked it up and the toppings were sliding off into the container, you literally had to hold it over your face and eat your way up the slice. The pizza itself was thin crust with a sweet sauce that was thin on the sauce. The pepperoni was very thin and kind of crunchy after it was reheated. The sausage was a little zesty and moist which I really liked best from my pizza slice. The garlic roll thing looked and smelled good but it was very underwhelming and nothing close to a good piece of garlic bread. Overall it was just ok and nothing great so I would probably not be back but I imagine it's a great spot after a night of drinking. read more

About 45 minutes ago as of writing this review, my girlfriend and I walked into the establishment. We were headed to a costume party, and the guy at the counter took a picture of her without her consent. When I noticed this, the guy went and hid in the kitchen. The guy that took the photo did not appear and a different worker (who clearly was also making fun of my gf) gave us dirty looks while we waited. He gave us our food and I confronted him about what happened. He clearly knew that he was in trouble and failed to give an apology. This was completely unacceptable and we will not be returning to this establishment if idiots like those two guys continue to be employed there. read more

Stopped in with a friend. I had the sausage & pepperoni slice. My friend had the Bacon Cheeseburger. Slices were $3.50 and included a garlic knot. The sausage and pepperoni were both spicy and had good flavor. The sauce was on the sweeter side. My slice may have been over-baked. The crust had a bitter flavor and was too crispy and thick to fold like a NY slice. I tried the bacon cheeseburger slice. The crust was better than my slice, but the rest of the slice was average. I expected more flavor with those toppings. The best thing I ate was the garlic knot. It was perfectly crisp on the outside and very soft in the center. There were a lot of varieties available by the slice, with the most unique being the Chicken n Waffles. Pieces of deep fried chicken breast and unseasoned waffle fries topped a mac-n-cheese pizza. That was too heavy for me to try. Service was good, except one customer came in and asked if there was a slice with beef but no pork. A young lady suggested the BACON Cheeseburger slice. Nice people were working the counter greeted us when we walked in. There was an appetizing selection of pies by the slice, and the prices seemed very reasonable. And that was before we knew they came with a tasty "garlic knot" piece of warm bread. The enviro is college funky, which was fine. As was the 90s soundtrack. It's not quite as good as Ian's on North when Ian's was at the top of their game. But much better than Ian's was the last few times we ate there ... before finally quitting the place for good. It was fine. I went at around 4pm and it looked like the par cooked pizzas had been sitting there for a bit. I got the meat lovers. It was fine. It tasted a bit like I reheated a slice from the night before on my gas grill. A good ny slice should have a fast fold to it. This was too crispy and charred and broke like a cracker. Aside from some great Neapolitan shops, there isn't much good pizza in Milwaukee. If I was looking for a slice, I would spend less and get a better bite at pizza shuttle. On June 21st I made an online order, went to go pick it up and the "Manager" told me that even though I showed him my "pending charge" on my card and my email confirmation that I was wrong because he had disabled the online ordering system and if I wanted my order I was going to have to pay for it again. Today, June 24th, the pending charge turned to a "CHARGE". So I went in and a different "Manager" told me they know there was a problem, and refused to give me refund. When I first moved here, Sal's Pizza came highly recommended. I had to run some errands so I decided to grab lunch. I took advantage of their weekday lunch deal (a total steal!) and got 2 Mac n Cheese slices and 2 garlic knots. The place very much had an Ian's Pizza vibe to it. Similar selection and slice sizes, as well as just a similar energy. The pizza itself was fine, the bottom was a bit too crispy for me and I thought it was a bit dry, but it was really good value so I excused it. 2.5 out of 5 As I was browsing through Yelp I was reminded that Sal's here on Oakland opened. I had been watching that building before they got into it and was pretty happy to see a pizza joint go in there. I love pizza and am always looking for something new. Sal's is on Oakland Ave. There are a few spots along the building but not many. You might find parking on Oakland or various other streets here. Upon entry you'll see what pies they have available. I wanted a slice to go. I was a little disappointed to see there were only four pies out. Cheese, Pep and sausage were two of those. They do have some interesting combinations so it was surprising there wasn't a better showing there. The gentleman behind the counter was prompt in addressing me through the door. Because of the nature of this place customer service interactions are limited and I cannot comment further. I mean... we are just ordering za here. The Good: I actually thought the crust was "ok". It wasn't bad. It wasn't the best but I wouldn't say that it's a weak point here. I'll have a photo attached. There was good coloring on my slice and it was crisp and allowed me to get a nice fold while maintaining it's structure. The OK: The flavor of my slice (Chicken Bacon Ranch) was fine but was something I would consider average. It's a $3.75 slice. What do you want? The Bad: My slice had a lot of liquid on top. I have had some greasy pizza in the past but this particular slice from Sal's was likely the greasiest I have ever had. I noticed the liquid shift as I picked up the slice and set it back down. If I don't act wisely this will be a messy affair. I chose to fold then give my slice a good squeeze in a few points just to drain it. I would estimate I could fill up half a shot glass with the grease from this one slice. That is something I would look into. I don't mind greasy pizza from time to time but this took the cake. The other note is that "To-Go" means the slice is put on a paper plate and into a brown bag. This isn't the best or most effective method for transport. It will lose it's heat quickly. Surely there must be better packaging methods. Brick 3 has that larger box. Is it truly too expensive to do here? If you are wondering about Decor it seems to be an afterthought here. I am a big advocate of saying that you should try it for yourself. These are fairly cheap slices and that is always good. I do think there is room for improvement here and that is OK. Sal's is a newer restaurant and sometimes that means finding your footing and working out the kinks. read more

I ordered the Ethan's NY Classic with the Sicilian pan crust and it was the worst pizza I've ever seen and somewhat eaten. Not only was almost all of the cheese stuck to the box and then inedible because the cardboard was stuck to it, it also cost us $27! On the menu the Ethan's is $21, but they also charged us $2.50 each for the basil and fresh mozzarella. There was hardly any sauce on the pizza also. I'm seriously disappointed because a friend got an $11 cheese pizza and it looked a million times better. You used to be able to order three individual slices for delivery (13 bucks total!) as of two months ago, but not anymore. The owner must have put profits over reputation this time. It was kinda obvious this was coming because they wouldnt hesitate to say "just so you know, it might be cold when it gets there because it is individual slices", obviously trying to upsell you on a whole pizza . now they just outright refuse to deliver slices, which causes me to outright refuse to go to Sals again! funny how that works? read more

I have now ordered Sal's Pizza Eastside twice for take out and really enjoyed it! I live on the East Side so it is only a short ride up Oakland from where I live to grab this pizza. I recommend that if you are in the area, and willing, it makes more sense to get the pies to go rather than wait for delivery. In both times that I called, the delivery was going to be about an hour whereas I could pick up the pizza in 20 minutes. When you go there, you can definitely tell it is a place where UWM students eat (probably late night) since they accept their dining hall cards. That being said, the staff is not unfriendly to those outside of the UWM community. I recommend ordering the garlic knots, caesar salad and the chicken bacon ranch pie. Unlike Ian's, their CBR pie does not have a sweet BBQ sauce on top (just thought all should know this if you are going to try to compare the two)! I also think that a large pie is good for 2-3 people who are hungry. This will give you more than enough for one night and even leftovers for lunch the next day. The total cost for those three items is about $30 (not bad at all). You will be full for sure! read more

Bad customer service. We were told it would take 15 minutes and after 30 minutes or so still no pizza I went to cancel the order because my 3 year old needed to eat. Was told it would be 5 more minutes and the manager was really ticked and didn't seem to get that kids need to eat on a schedule and the pizza would need to cool so it wouldn't be 5 more minutes but 15 more minutes. The pizza is good but expensive and the wait and service make the entire place just not worth it. $20 for a pepperoni pizza is quite pricey. read more

Note: This review is solely based on customer service We ordered food online from Sal's. After an hour and 20 minutes of waiting we called to ask the status of our order. The person on the phone said that the food had already left and was on it's way. Another 20 minutes passes and still no delivery driver (we live less than a mile away). We call again to see if the delivery driver possibly got lost. The person on the phone tells us that the delivery driver is walking out the door now. Being slow is one thing. Lying to try and save face is another. I will NEVER be ordering from Sal's again! Update: The food ended up at our door 2 hours after ordering. Luckily it was still hot. However, that was the highlight of my calzone. My wife did enjoy her Chicken Parmesean, though. In other reviews people raved about the garlic knots. I can say that they were simply bread to be dipped in sauce, nothing special. In the end the food did not compel me to change my rating. This is by far, my FAVORITE pizza joint in Milwaukee. Their prices are extremely reasonable (just like real NY PIZZA) Their slices are huge and flavorful just like I remembered in NY. Their slices all come with these little amazing garlic knots (dont forget to ask for some marinara sauce to dip.) The service is always swift and the people have always been cool. I have not 1 complaint. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves pizza....period. but if you love ny style pizza.. This is the spot... They have so many other items on their menu and I see they extended their hours.. which is always a plus for their location. The Eastside is always awake and hungry. ;) read more
