Paparazzi has very good north Italian food and prompt and courteous service in a pleasant atmosphere. I have been going to the Paparazzi restaurants since the 1990's and have never been disappointed. I miss the old place on Dartmouth St in Back Bay, but this place is just as good. It's a great restaurant to bring a large group for a birthday or other special occasion. I went to the Papa Razzi in Wellesley. The restaurant is enormous, crowded, and understaffed. It took quite a while for our overwhelmed waitress to get to our table and give us our menus, and quite a while longer to make it back after we had made our selections. This was not her fault because the wait staff ought to have been twice what it was. Speaking only as to my own experience, I found it poor. I ordered only a Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp and a drink. Everyone at my table was served their drinks promptly, but then there was a long wait. After about fifteen minutes, our waitress came back to tell me they were out of shrimp for my salad, but I could have chicken or steak. I chose chicken. After another long wait, our food arrived, and I was served a very large salad that looked wonderful on the plate. It came with slices of parmigiana, and a single very good piece of Melba toast. However, the chicken was overcooked to the point of being inedible, and the Romaine lettuce had no flavor. I have no idea how someone can drain lettuce of flavor, but the kitchen at Papa Razzi figured it out. The salad was so bad I actually left most of it on the plate, and I was hungry. Of the four people at our table, one said his meal was good. The meal that was good was a pasta dish, so my recommendation to anyone willing to go there would be to stick to pasta. One good meal out of four is not a good score, and I don't plan on a return visit. However, the place was crowded, and I can only guess that most of the other diners there were repeat customers, and that they were satisfied with their meals. The dining room is huge, attractively decorated, crowded, and noisy. The adjacent bar is, by contrast, quiet, not crowded, and rather pleasant. I didn't notice if the restaurant allows dining at the bar, but, if they do, my advice would to eat there. Better yet, go someplace else. read more

The food is delicious, the waiter was perfect - I had the carpaccio to start and our waiter picked a terrific Pinot noir to go with it.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Papa Razzi has been around for a while and never disappoints. As a teenager I'd always get the pizza and that was what I always associated this place with, but my palate has advanced and I'm realizing they have some pretty good alternatives. I booked on OpenTable for my family of four. We reserved for 5pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables available. Unlike some other places the tables aren't barricaded but they are pretty spaced out so social distancing was no problem. We started with appetizers: bruschetta and fritto misto (fried calamari and shrimp). The fritto misto comes with a dipping sauce that was incredible. The bruschetta came with a something that resembled a pesto sauce on the bread and had some sizeable chunks of sweet tomatoes. My wife said it was the best bruschetta she ever had but she tends to exaggerate when she's hungry. I think it was good but not the best. For entrees my daughter got a grilled chicken dish that came with roasted potatoes as a side. It was on the kids menu but could have fed a linebacker for the patriots. The grilled chicken was delicious and the potatoes were even better. I ordered chicken piccata and substituted the risotto that comes with the dish for linguine. My wife ordered the half roasted chicken. The piccata was bomb.com. The chicken breast was juicy and the sauce had the perfect balance of lemon and butter. My wife's roasted chicken came with potatoes and spinach and. She ate about 90% of the bruschetta and didn't have much space left for her meal so we grabbed a box to take it home. I ate it the next day and it was decent. The potatoes were the highlight of the dish so I'd def order those as a side the next time I go back. Overall Papa Razzi is a solid Italian spot which is very family friendly and affordable. For all our food plus a glass of wine for me and my wife, we paid $100. read more

We've been wanting to go to this restaurant for some time. We were exited to get a reservation on a recent Saturday night. Walking into the place, we were not disappointed. The restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food however was a different story. It was just slightly above average. We ordered one of specials, haddock, and a salmon dish. The food was generally too salty. The salmon was good but should have been better given the price. When I ordered my salmon, I discussed in details with the waitress that I wanted it to be very pink in the middle. But it came, no pink. Later, the waitress came and asked whether the salmon was done to my liking, I told her "No. it was done too well." She looked at me and walked away. Maybe our mistake was not ordering pasta or an Italian dish. Those might be better at this Italians restaurant. We still might try this place again. We would probably try traditional Italian good only. All in all, it was a mixed experience, some good and some bad. Given the appearance of this restaurant, you would expect better quality food. read more

I've been to the Wellesley Razzi a grand total of 3 times over the past 5 years. They are the only PR I have been to: 2 of the occasions were in large groups for birthday dinner celebrations; and the remaining visit for a late lunch in their bar area after the Boston Marathon (their location is right on the Marathon route). All 3 visits were just great, with the 2 dinners being especially memorable. It may be their geographical location and the town they are in, that all visits were with family, or just the homey look and setting of their building, but there is a certain charm that this place emotes. Yes, the prices could be deemed high, but this is practically fine dining we are talking about. The portions are quite large and tasty, they offer a huge menu with lots of vegetarian and kid options, and there are impressive beer, wine, and cocktail options. Our most recent visit was last night and everything met or exceeded our expectations. My wife, who in the past had been unimpressed with Papa, really enjoyed her braised short rib (a new menu addition). Everyone seemed happy with their dishes. I hope to be back soon! read more

This place is one of the best "high quality" restaurants in the area. I have always heard positive things about Papa Razzi; but only ever saw there restaurants go out of business. Chestnut Hill.... gone. Burlington..... gone. Framingham..... gone. This location I also thought was closed; however, that was just for a brief renovation, and hopefully the renovation means that this Papa Razzi will actually be one to last! While it is an Italian restaurant, there seems to be a good assortment of menu items available, so even if there are people in your group that are not the biggest fans of Italian food they should be able to find something appetizing. Pizza, soups, salads, pastas and more. Good variety and multiple items in each section. Service was very prompt, efficient, and accurate. Bread was amazing.... don't even an order an appetizer, just keep asking for more and more bread, it's delectable! Prices are a bit on the higher side; however, it is a bit more of a formal restaurant and definitely attracts a different clientele than the typical chain. It's also Wellesley! Honestly, I really liked this restaurant and would highly suggest it. I will definitely be back in the future and would definitely suggest visiting if you are looking for a great restaurant with Italian / American food in the Wellesley / Newton area. 5 stars. read more

I dined here just yesterday evening, food was great I ordered the Bolognese rigatoni, and had fried mozzarella with sauce, both were a wonderful choice , I ended up ordering a fig /ghost cheese pizza to go as this pizza is hard to find it was divine, the waiter was wonderful very personable, and seemed very down to earth , we ended up give him a 40% tip , he definitely went out of his way .and with pandemic keeping restaurants shut down, we kinda figure it would help, as not everyone can get vaccinated right away. Food is quite good, though service is not quite up to par. All the wait staff look terribly busy, and the one who's at the counter didn't even bother to acknowledge the customers waiting to be seated. (Yes, she was busy doing something with the computer, but could she even look up, smile and request us to wait patiently?) The waitress who served our table seems so eager to clear out our table that she took one of my small plates away before I could use it for bread. I ordered grilled salmon that served with wild rice. It's reasonably done, and portion size is just right. Desert is chocolate mousse cake which is quite good (not too sweet or heavy). There is free parking in the lot right outside which is handy. I like the pace around Wellesley which is always quite leisurely. This is really more like 3.5 stars, rather than a 4 stars. If I'm in the area again, I'll probably try it again, though I hope service next time won't be this poor. read more

2 stars instead of 1 for the quality of the food. Food was excellent. The issue came when I ordered Sangria. My husband and I got carded. No problem-we are both in our late twenties. I presented my permanent resident card (green card). The waiter first claimed that there was no birthday on the card (this is not true). After I pointed to the date of birth, the waiter said he was not sure if they accept permanent resident cards as ID and would need a second form of ID. No problem, I presented my EAD-yet another form of ID issued by the federal government of the United States. After this, he said he needed to speak with the manager to be sure. They would not accept either one of my IDs and refused to serve me. Instead of admitting that it was a little silly they would not accept my valid form of ID, he put the onus on me and suggested I "bring a passport next time" This has never happened to me at any restaurant, bar, or grocery store and was a very demeaning experience as an immigrant. It's unfortunate, because the food at Papa Razzi is genuinely good but it was difficult to enjoy after being treated in such a way just because I was not born in this country. read more

Finding places that can accommodate our large group of children isn't easy. Papa Razzi is probably fancier than we'd typically take our kids but 1) they take reservations and have the availability, 2) we wanted to sit outside on a beautiful day and this fit the bill. Food is just okay. I can barely remember what we had because it's not that memorable. Oh, salad (baby greens) and pizza (polpetta)... and a grilled cheese for the little one. Meh. The service here is much better than the food so that's a plus. Oh the one thing that I do recommend and the best part of our meal... watermelon sangria. If you want summer in a glass, get it. So good, I could have had like 3 of these... might as well just asked for a pitcher. All you need is that and a seat on their patio and you are tutto bene! read more

We had the: Rollatini Melanzana egg battered eggplant, herb & garlic scented ricotta, prosciutto, pomodoro sauce 8.99; and the: Panzanella baby greens, capers, tomatoes, torn focaccia, Vermont goat cheese, red wine vinaigrette 8.50; and the: Salmone all Griglia Atlantic salmon, red & yellow beets, fennel,baby arugula, Yukon Gold potato hash, pine nuts, orange vinaigrette 19.99; and - Filetto Balsamico 5oz. pan-seared filet, roasted vegetables,balsamic vinegar sauce for 15.99. For drinks we had Arnold Palmers - lemonade and iced tea, the lemonade is freshly squeezed and bottled sparkling water. It was really good. No complaints. It has been consistent and the staff VERY accommodating and professional. Calm. Attentive. If you want something just ask. As I have said before - the other locations are not as good a fit for us, we liked, loved, the old location at The Mall at Chestnut Hill - but this is as good as you get. We are very satisfied. Yes, some call it a chain, but we like it better than Legal Seafood and other 'chains'... I eat out fairly often, and yesterday's meal in March 2023 was definitely the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. I was looking forward to tender chicken in luscious sauce. However, my chicken scallopini was one hard slab with an enamel of sauce baked in on the top. It looked like road kill. The baby potatoes were also very hard. I would have had to have them dump the entire entree, but we were with a very proper couple, and I didn't want to create embarassment. So I ate about a sixth, since I was very hungry, and I wrapped the rest for my dog, so that she could have a very chewy and challenging "toy" when we came home. Papa Razzi is a great place for everything from special occasions to casual meals out. On Mondays their entrees are $15.99 and salads, appetizers, and pizzas are $7.99 with purchase of an entree. Their chicken parmesan is huge, so if you want to share, they'll split it in the kitchen. We always ask to sit with Mary, she is very detail oriented and makes our visit that much more enjoyable. Overall Papa Razzi is consistently ok Italian food however it is not the greatest and never will be for a few reasons. First off, this location sits in Wellesley Falls area of downtown Wellesley off Route 9 and is tucked away to the right near the river, hardly noticeable and is quite a large location. Place was very crowded since it was Saturday, parking lot is very large and interior here is decorated quite nice with cool light fixtures etc. The entrance and hostess station here is an odd setup which leaves very little room for waiting patrons and is adjacent to the seating so cold drafts enter the dining room and tables are set up in the walking path of patrons entering. Thought that was strange. The service here started off slow but picked up quite a bit and the two managers visible in the dining room checked in on us on two occasions which was decent. Menu here is standard selection of Italian dishes, standard appetizers and entrees. Extensive wine and cocktail lists and even a small menu for the kids. We started out with fried mozzarella which was delicious and opted for the Veal Scallopini and Filet. Food was served timely, waitstaff here was ok, our server could of been a tad bit friendlier and was all business but it was fine. Entrees came out hot, servings were a bit skimpy and biting into the red potatoes which were overcooked and the very limp broccoli and then taking a bite of the small piece of veal scallopini I was not overly impressed, it was just ok, a bit overcooked and tough and I was a bit surprised that this was the same food as the delicious fried mozzarella we just finished. Filet was just average as well which I was surprised at and it had areas of tough pieces. Dessert was served as brownie sundae with gelato and it was equally not that great, very hard brownie and sauces that tasted like they were from a jar. In all the meal was just average and there is probably a reason you don't see too many of these chain locations open anymore. The food is just not up to par with other nearby Italian restaurants scattered all over Boston and Providence. Sadly, I suspect this location will end up closing, and is only overly crowded because it is not near many other restaurants in this area. read more

I ordered a beet salad this afternoon at the bar in Wellesley. After I had taken a few bites I observed a long curly black hair in it and brought it to the bartender's attention. The bartender was professional and polite and referred to the hair as "disgusting," and then placed my order for a pasta plate instead. The bartender was responsive, the lobster pasta was tasty which is my reason for two stars, but I was taken aback that I did not hear from manager regarding the incident or that I wasn't offered a complementary plate because of my experience, as it was gross. I tipped Connor $10 which was more than 20% because, it wasn't his hair, but I would never return there, or any paparazzi again and I told him that because of the incident. We consumers have to make clear statements about what is acceptable, and hygienically up to par. read more
