I've been testing different bike shops around the area, to find the perfect bike mechanic. My primary concerns were: Listens Closely to Issues, Knowledgeable, Expedient, Economic, and Informative. So far, every shop has had good/bad points. This shop, Papa Wheelies, is the exception. They've been perfect on all points. The mechanic "TJ" (Tom) is very nice, humble, helpful, informative, thorough, and fixes your bike quickly at a very economic price. Not only is TJ very helpful, but he's never once given me the hard-sell with the: "you should really {upgrade/buy newer equipment/replace/etc} this, instead of fixing it." My wife has also been in to see him without me, and TJ was very respectful of her. In my experience with other shops, many want to show you how much they know by belittling your knowledge and/or equipment. This shop was the opposite experience for my wife, here they treated her with respect and listened closely to her concerns without belittling her knowledge of bike equipment, etc. Even better, TJ has turned around my bike faster than every other shop. Sometimes while I wait, without any complaints or high fees. All around excellent shop. Highly recommended! read more

Paid em to box an expensive bike for shipping. FedEx rejected their work as "improperly packed". I lugged it back because the guy on the phone said they would make it right. I also learned they had forgotten to pack in a valve adaptor that was promised and would have inconvenienced the perdón it was going to. If I didn't hurt myself lugging the box back and forth, three days in a wheelchair, wouldn't post to hurt a small business. Take a look at the "fix" and judge for yourself. read more

With the pandemic, it seems that so many people are purchasing bicycles. My son asked for a mountain bike, specifically a Trek, and after calling a local dealer and being told it was not available until next year, we called the Trek store in Boynton asking for perhaps a left over from this year, got a recorded message, left my message, and they never called back. Okay, so he finds on online that is sold in a local big box store. Website said they had 2 in stock. We got there and they did not have the bike on the floor. Saw a salesman, but he never approached us. So, I safari "local mountain bikes near me" and this Papa Wheelies comes up. I put it in the GPS and it basically takes me to the neighborhood Target shopping plaza, where, all the way in the back corner of a strip of stores, I find this bike shop. I've lived here almost 20 years - never knew this shop existed - but am over the top happy that I found it! We told him what we wanted, he pointed to a Fuji on the rack, all ready to go and bam, my son LOVED it. Total transaction time, 10 minutes! The bike is an excellent beginners bike, with front suspension, thumb shifters, disc brakes, for $399 !!! Got to talking to Luke and he's been there 5 years! In a month, we get a free tune up ..... but just knowing that there is a small business that helped us, truly helped us, listened to our needs and recommended something that didn't break the bank - THANK YOU! I will tell anyone who asks where to buy a bike about Papa Wheelies. read more

I'm giving a 2 stars grade to this small businesses, as they lack on customer service and no people skills. I go out of my way to sponsor small and local small businesses. Took 2 of my bikes for a simple tune up and to fix one of the bikes tire's ring. I get in the store pushing one of the bikes and stand by the counter for a good 1 to 2 minutes when finally the mechanic (TJ or PJ) turns around to attend me. I was told that tune ups for a bicycle with 18 speed started at $55 and for the other bike (a cruiser) $35. A little pricey but decided to leave them anyway. I was told the bikes should be ready early the next day and that they will call once they were done. Two days later, I had to call to find out the status of the bikes. Never got a call from them. The tune up included cleaning the bike. I understood that that didn't mean a complete wash but at least a wipe out. When I told Luke (I think he is the owner) that the bicycles weren't clean he just replied "I doubt it. They had to be clean because that's what he was told". When I call him over to see how dirty the bikes were he still doubtful and saying that that couldn't be right. Well, he had to eat his words when he saw how dirty both bikes were. He tried to remedy the situation by telling me to hold on that he will get a cloth and clean them. For me, it was too late to try to make things better. Once you don't treat your customers with the respect and common courtesy they deserve you not only lose one customer but you lose all possible referrals. When you have a customer standing in front of you and he is telling you that your employees didn't do their job right, that customer is helping you improve your business. If I didn't care about your business, I would have quietly leave and never come back. I'll have a three more bikes that need service but I would definitely will go somewhere else. read more

possibly the worst biscycle service I've ever had. Went in and told them I wanted new wheels, double wall . 13 ga spoke , black, black rims in the front. 12g black spokes int he rear, black rim. Both to be double wall. what came was 14 ga spokes front and rear with silver spokes and they lost the derailleur guard. Told me the bike was ready and i jumped on and rode home. Rear wheel was too stiff to turn when I got home, the derailleur was shifting poorly and I checked the tire pressure and it was 22lbs. Took the bike back to them to have the bearings in the rear wheel loosened and to have the guard put back on. Got home and noticed my spoke wrenches would not fit the 12 ga properly (I have bad eyesight) and discovered they were 14 ga. Still no derailleur guard. Went back to the store for a double wall alum. rim with 12 ga spokes. Picked up the bike and a Tire blew out shortly thereafter. So I changed the tire. Not a double wall rim and they did not take the rubber tube guards off the old rims and put them on the new ones. The tire seems to blown (with a bang) because they caught the tube between the rim and the tire. It was a slice 6 inches long. read more

I went to this bike shop to get a bike for my sons 14th bday. He chose a bike in a catalog he loved that they had to special order. The manager was very nice and helpful. He called me when the bike came in and said he had to assemble it and i was leaving to go out of town. He stated no problem you can come pick up when you get back after weekend as it was for him. I even asked if i needed to pay anything when ordered he stated no pay when you pick up to make sure its comfortable for him if not we will just put on floor to sell. I just got back from trip , was planning on going today to pick up as i stated to manager on phone when it arrived, and i get a call today from another man saying we sold your sons bike. And i can't order another one as they no longer make them??? This bike was for him and was special ordered for him, was advised to come pick up this week, and funny thing is i found bike online elsewhere no problem but he stated they don't have them?? He said i can get another bike. i said sorry you lost my business. Ill find elsewhere. Do not do business with them. They will go out of their way to help but then sell your ordered bike to someone else when telling you otherwise!! STAY AWAY! Now i got to tell my son that they sold the bike and has to wait longer for another one as it was his birthday gift! He also has a medical condition and is not verbal which will cause him even more anxiety. So unreal! read more

I was surprised to find a bicycle shop that was willing to fix my son's old cannondale bicycle. Not only were they willing to do so, they did so very professionally and cheerfully. I only wish I had found this bicycle shop 2 years ago when I bought my own bike. They know what they are doing. Having raised 4 children, I have been to several shops over the past 45 years caring for both Trek and Cannondale bikes. It is rare to find a shop that truely takes the time to do it right. They care about their customers. I would not hesitate to purchase a bicycle from Papa Wheelies. read more
