I have used Papalia for some years now, and they are outstanding. Here is why. My first project, install a whole house water filter. I called multiple plumbers. Two called back, one gave me a date some weeks out (maybe). Papalia said they'd have a person in my house in a few days. The other plumber said they would need to order a filter after seeing my house, and then come back to finish the install. Papalia sent a fully stocked truck so the technician could see what was needed, pick it out of the truck, and finish the job. They called back promptly (several didn't) they gave me a clear idea of what it would cost for the visit, and that the technician would give me an estimate and finish the job. Which he did. Two years later (last week) I had a laundry list of things that needed doing. Same thing, in a couple of days of my call the technician was here, took a look around and helped me decide what needed to be done. He told me that some things didn't need to be fixed, and pointed out other things that I had not realized. He gave me an estimate, I agreed and two hours later the job was done. Yes, there are those who say Papalia is costly. To that I say this. You may get a plumber who will charge you less. That plumber will most likely require multiple visits to your house before the work is done. You may have to wait a while before the work gets done. With Papalia, I feel (and my experience bears this out) that I am paying for quality, efficiency, professionalism, and for the comfort that the job will be done in one visit. It isn't cheap to have a hardware store on wheels sitting on your driveway, but that saves you time, and headache. There's no free lunch. Their work is guaranteed (parts & labor), you are paying for that. I have asked them to provide me estimates for two other jobs, and the estimate is clear and I know what I'm getting. Outstanding service, clean, professional and extremely responsive. Septic line blocked. Called at 9:30 they arrived at 10:30, no emergency rate nonsense like others. The first place I called took an hour to call back to tell me they don't service my town but call the national office, which sent me to phone mail. They cleared the line and sent a camera through it and determined the root cause of the problem was a bowed pipe. First time I've used them third time the line has been clogged and none of the others discovered what was causing problem. Last time I had it cleared it cost over $500 to get it cleaned out. This time it cost less and they actually knew that something was causing the malfunction and that's why they sent the camera through. I asked if they could fix it right away and they were there the next day with an estimate. They did the job that day. They were careful not to dig up the lawn carelessly. They placed the excavated dirt on blue tarps and didn't mess up the yard. They replaced the pipe, saved my plants, replaced sections of lawn with the original grass. Believe me you would never know they were there. I had accidently cut the sprinkler line with a shovel when I had uncovered the cap of the tank and they fixed that for me, at no charge. I am extremely pleased with the work they did and would never hesitate to recommend them to all my neighbors. I've owned houses for 30 years and Papalia's work rates at the top of my list for best contractors ever doing work on my properties. Papalia Home Services has done a wonderful job to replace our 37 years old gas boiler with a new High Efficiency Boiler and Indirect Hot water Heater right after the new year. We had worked with Papalia eight years ago installing a separate HVAC system on the addition to our original house. We were very pleased with their quality of work and excellent services. We have engaged them to service our old boiler and central AC system for our existing house as well since then. Last December we finally decided to replace our old boiler with 3 heating zones, we knew it is a complicated and very expansive undertaking. Therefore, we had interviewed and asked for proposal from three additional HVAC companies besides Papalia. All four companies have good reputation and service records. All the proposal prices are within 10% of each other. However, Papalia Home Services is still the most accommodating company to response our request for information and was able to schedule the work within one week's time frame. Their proposal was not the least expansive one. But we believe we selected the best one for our needs based on our past experiences with their quality of works. And we are very happy with our decision. We really appreciated Peta, the technician and his crew worked hard for three days to return the heat to our house right after the new year, and especially his supervisor came over the last day to help him completing the installation until late at night. read more

Second time using Papalia for a plumbing job. The first clearing a kitchen sink drain, and now the replacement of a 15 yr old water heater in an 100 year old house that required plumping, shutoff values, and electrical work upgrades. They scheduled us right away, came right on time, and Mike professionally and thoroughly evaluated our situation. The extra work for plumbing and electrical was thoroughly explained to us, the replacement tank came promptly from their warehouse, and Mike contacted electrician support and together the group worked seamlessly to get everything done in a few hours. The rough estimate Mike provided at the start of the job was accurate to the final cost. There was no feeling of anything less than great service, professional diagnostics, and accurate to cost repair. Mike was very personable, communicated much of the technical issues with us, and reviewed the entire job with us, including the new unit, plumbing , electrical, and needed permit inspection. Cannot compare the costs with other service/repair companies in the area, but a quick survey of water heater replacement costs with friends in nearby towns, reassured us that costs were comparable. read more

I have been a customer of Papalia Plumbing for years, We have had to call several times in the past few months for work on my heating and now Ac. We made a appointment and when Nicole called to say they were on there way it was too soon for us we needed another 30 minutes to get ready. She became angry and told us that the technician can't wait for us that we would have to reschedule. I asked to speak to the manager Vicki and she told me that she no longer worked here and she was the office manager now and all concerns can be directed to her I was shocked what happened to those nice girls that have been there for years They were always so friendly, I have heard a few other rumors of the cost has gone up too I was willing to pay more for good service but not to be spoken to like I was. Time changes and I guess Papalia has too. We will be telling our friends at the club about our recent experience.What happened to the customer is always right? We had used Papalia a few years ago to repair two outdoor faucets that no other plumbers had been able to repair. Needless to say we were ecstatic! This time we needed a leaking kitchen faucet and shower repaired. Mike O'Brien assessed, explained the repairs and cost before doing the job. I had wanted to do a cosmetic trim replacement for the shower. They carried the part on the truck. I thought this was pretty nice since I had shopped for this part and was not able to see it before installing it. Mike was able to show me the damaged parts as he was repairing the faucet. When completed, he made sure I used the shower properly and what to expect until the parts cured. He was respectful of my home, kept a clean work space, cleaned the area, and replaced items he removed. He was a pleasure to work with. We have had many plumbers over the past 20 years in our home that needs constant updating and repairs. Papalia has the best service and quality workmanship. We needed to replace our water heater located on the second floor and wanted to replace the 75 gallon gas water heater with a 50 gallon electric. It was very difficult trying to get quotes and coordinate the work to do that by calling plumbers and electricians and a contractor to repair holes in the wall to get the 220 amp wiring from the electric box in the garage at front of codo to the utility room in the upstairs back of condo. Then we found Papalia!!! They were very responsive and listened to what we wanted to do and they have plumbers and electricians on staff who communicate and coordinate with each other. The electrician even figured out a way to run the wiring so that the hole in the wall was inside a downstairs closet and he very carefully saved the sheetrock and screwed it back in when done. Can't see it at all and no contractor needed to repair walls or ceiling! Very satisfied with Papalia!!!!!! read more

And the same technician stays on the job from start to finish to make sure that one person knows everything about the project and can explain it to you in simple terms. They are available 24 hours a day -- which was essential when our furnace went down on a Sunday morning in the winter. And they follow up after every project -- no matter how small. I contacted Papalia Plumbers from "Best Pick Reports" that comes free in the mail. I called and left a message regarding my needs for a friend as his caregiver. I heard back from them almost immediately. I made an appointment to replace a toilet that was non-functioning and the sink that was not draining. On the day of the appointment they arrived promptly and installed a new toilet. They went above and beyond my expectations for their thoroughness and care as they explained everything to me in detail. I made another appointment to install a sink. On the day of that installation they found my friend lying on the floor unable to get up. They called 911. they went above and beyond in the care that they showed him. Papalia did an amazing job. I called in the morning that I had a clogged line from my house to my septic line. Nick and Abelino arrived an hour later and went to work. They identified a leaking fixture and then cleaned out the main line to the septic tank using a camera and a rotating head that cleared things out. That took most of the day. They then identified a problem with the pipe outside the house and contacted a contractor who came later that afternoon. The pipe will have to be replaced and we (Nick, the contractor and myself) are discussing options for the best and most cost effective way to get the job done. Love Papalia! I've used them for my single family home in a Waltham many times! They most recently came and evaluated a lack of hot water situation and determined a new hot water heater was the solution! They were able to do the work that day and the water has never been better! Love their ease of scheduling online and they text you to confirm or in my case offer an earlier day to accommodate our hot water problem! Always thankful for this company! We needed a new tankless water heater installed and we began calling the manufacturer's recommended list. Most of the listed installers went to voicemail and NONE ever returned a call. At Papilia, a live person answered my call. That was the start of a very positive experience, with scheduling, rescheduling, permits, installation, inspection. Papalia Home Services has a great membership program. My heater stopped working on a fairly cold morning. The Papalia tech persons Mike and Padraic came within a few hours and quickly identified the problem. They made phone calls with the manufacturer and the warehouse to identify the heat exchanger that I needed. Padraic offered to pick up the part himself to save time. Within 48 hours the new heat exchanger was installed and tested along with a new primary circulator pump. While installing it, Mike noticed that the heavy assembly of piping, etc., needed better propping and he himself built a sturdy wooden support structure. Papalia Home Services has been nothing but amazing for us. Since buying a house a year ago, we have had some significant electrical issues as well as some upgrades. Regarding the electrical problems... it took over a month to discover the root of the problem... an errant screw coming down from the ceiling and causing arcing in an abutting copper wire... and the electricians from Papalia were rock stars! They never gave up; they kept trying from the simple/straightforward possibilities to the less obvious until they figured it out. Bravo! And it is "as good as it gets"! My allegedly portable floor air conditioner had stopped cooling. I called several organizations, including the supposed authorized service company, and heard one of two stories every time. Either they couldn't come to the house (even though there was no way that I could get it down the stairs and to the car and deliver it to a service center), or they only service central air conditioners. Then I called Papalia and got this delightful lady who asked the service people and voila! Help was on the way! I have been a happy customer of Papalia Home Services for years. They first helped me out when my brand new furnace installed by the builder wasn't working correctly. They determined the builder installed it incorrectly. Ever since then, I have been a loyal service customer having them come out and look at my furnace in the fall, A/C in the spring, and just this year, my plumbing. Always very thorough and well documented. If I have a knock on them, it is that for services outside the annual maintenance their prices are a bit high. But quality is worth the price. Called Papalia to unclog our kitchen sink drain, they were responsive and professional. There was a minor snafu with the appointment scheduling with dispatch that got sorted out right away. I love the feature that shows me when my technician is on the way including a photo so I know who I'm expecting.
