The bread they use for deli subs tastes like hot dog buns....too bad because the ingredients were ample and seasoned well.

Everything I've ordered here has been fresh and consistently delicious! Each time I visit I try something different and have been happy with my food. Once you order inside, they call your number when it's ready. They have inside and outside seating. Can't beat the view of the marina. They offer an extensive selection of refreshments including wine, beer and ice. Very handy if you're going out boating for the day. Everyone that works here is super nice and happy to answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend eating here! read more

This deli is putting out some surprisingly good food! Try the Rueben sandwich, the turkey panini, and the Italian sub. The breakfasts are all good, the number 1, and the breakfast burrito are our favorites. The good: nice outdoor patio with good view of the marina. Also, there are lots of sandwich and breakfast choices. Lots of fresh veggies on my veggie sandwich. The bad: the cost relative to what you get. I got a veggie sandwich that included olives, spinach, onions, avocado, peppers and they were all fresh. But the whole wheat bread was mushy and couldn't hold the sandwich together--like it got wet and ripped as they mayo was spread. If you are staying on Harbor Island and don't want to travel a couple of miles into town, this place has solid food & beverages (including hard seltzer, beer, & wine) at very affordable prices. Service was quick & accommodating. There's some seating indoors and a nice outdoor area, with a view of the marina. This place is awesome. Right on the marina next to the Sheraton. My friends and I were staying next door and weren't very impressed with the offerings at the hotel. You order at the counter and they call your name. They have a few tables inside, but a lovely patio overlooking the marina. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed sitting outside. The food came out hot, fresh, and plentiful. If you leave here hungry, there is no pleasing you. I ordered the veggie omelet that was packed full and had avocado on top. It came with a heaping portion of perfectly cooked hashbrowns and sourdough toast. So many people don't take their time to correctly cook hasbrowns, but the lovely woman in the kitchen knows what she is doing. Had breakfast here today. My order took longer than I expected since it was not busy, but the food was good. I ordered the meat omelette and it was served with hashbrowns and your choice of bread. The omelette was good with a generous amount of meat (sausage, bacon, and ham). I would have preferred the cheese to be inside the omelette, but it was not the end of the omelette. We got a meatball sub and Italian panini. Both were overpriced and pretty mediocre. The meatballs were bland and tasteless and I'm pretty sure the cheese was plastic. Unassuming little shop in between two Sheraton buildings right along the harbor. They serve all sorts of American-style breakfast and lunch items from pastries to omelettes to sandwiches and ice cream at a surprisingly reasonable price for this area. They don't have much of a drink menu, but there is an extensive fridge of drinks to choose from. While the interior isn't much -- it's pretty much a takeout counter -- the outdoor ambience and seating is where it's at. Especially on the many beautiful, sunny days of San Diego The HASH BROWNS were the best part of the breakfast, in my opinion. They were perfectly fried to a golden brown and very thin, so it's like you're getting the "muffin top" of the hash brown! This place is another hidden gem with something for everyone. Take a look at their menu, it's only one aspect of their business. It serves as a deli and convenience store so if you're going out on your boat, you don't have to worry about forgetting something because they will have it. We stopped in for lunch and I had to ask the patron, "What are your top three best-selling hot sandwiches?" One of the three happened to be the Philly Steak Cheese...which is what I ordered. We also had the Reuben which was also one of the top three, per woman taking our order. Both of these sandwiches were outstanding and it all started with the amazing bread they use. I got to the San Diego Airport early and had some time to kill, so I decided on breakfast on Harbor Island. Nestled between two Sheraton Hotel towers is a quaint building called Safe Harbor Cabrillo Isle which overlooks the bay. You canSee San Diego's skyline, the Coronado Bridge and North Island. The restaurant is on the backside of the Safe Harbor Cabrillo Isle building and overlooks the harbor. I was impressed on the breakfast selection! Tasty food at a good price! Great views of the bay! The cook snd cashier were personable and friendly. Crappy coffee though...so, purchase something out of the cooler to drink. read more

Therefore, if you're busy or in a rush, please do not come to this place the food quality is Soso. However, they got pretty good seats outside right next to the Harbor. I love this little deli. Came here for breakfast during my stay at the nearby Sheraton. It is tucked away in a quiet corner on the harbor. Place is simple, clean, and very reasonably priced. I ordered the omelet. It is cooked very well. They stock some beverages and snacks as well and the price was not jacked up like everywhere else on the marina. Ever just know you wrote a review of a place but couldn't find it? When I checked in today it said that I've been here enough and should do a review-then I started searching, as if, the computer was wrong. But no review or even a draft. I totally missed the mark and now I'm ready to fix that. Papanani's is a great deli/convenience store with a bit of everything you may need. The c-store has most of what any other c-store but with one or two items out on the shelf so takes less room. There are snack foods such as chips, crackers, candy and other goodies. They have numerous coolers for drinks-waters, sodas, juices and wine, wine coolers and other alcoholic beverages that require chilling. There is an even larger display of wine that isn't refrigerated. The deli is pretty small but has 6 or 8 tables inside and a larger eating area outside. They have a good sized menu with what looks like homemade muffins and treats in the case. They serve Ridgeline coffee which is pretty good. We like the Kona of the 3 they have out in vacuum carafes. We've been here 3 or 4 times for breakfast. I am not a fan of breakfast. Eggs do not excite me and pancakes give me a sugar rush then a crash. But between my husband and his friend we have tried numerous items including the eggs, omelet, pancakes, French toast-all good. Their pancakes have a great texture and a good flavor-and they make hubs happy. We've tried all the breakfast meats-bacon, ham and sausage and they are ok. The best thing is that they will make you Greek Chicken Rice Soup for breakfast! That's the real breakfast of champions! It is tasty with loads of veggies. It's my go-to breakfast. I definitely recommend Papanani's Deli if you are in the Harbor Island area. The food is excellent for a small deli.
