This is 8pm on a Monday. Decided to give them a try given the amazing reviews. Tried to go, couldn't find parking. Their parking lot fits maybe 6 cars, one of taken up by a trailer for Goodbar, two are reserved for the taco shop next door and the couple remaining are taken. The streets all around are taken because they are residential and everyone is home, everywhere else is marked Tow Zone. So I call to ask about parking and get Jason: Me: Hi, do you have alternative parking somewhere by chance? J: just park in the parking lot. Me: that's full and so are the streets, that's why I'm calling to ask. Are you really busy tonight? J: it's trivia and karaoke night so I guess theirs people. Just park in the lot. I was done at that point. Jason honestly sounded incredibly intoxicated himself and truly (had it on speaker for the car) had zero interest in helping or even that I called. Before I said anything, the entire car immediately agreed to our alternate location. Good for you Jason, hope you're the owner as you seem to have plenty of customers for a Monday night. Came in to listen to a few friends thats was playing at Good Bar. That at 1872 Rosecrans St, San Diego, CA 92106. Really nice place didnt get there in time to try there food. Staff was polite and professional they made you feel like you were welcome . I did get a coke soda since I do not drink. Would I recommend them yes . Had no idea this is a dedicated Eagles bar, but thank goodness we weren't rooting for the opposition when we wandered into this space full of kelly green and organized rounds of "Fly, Eagles Fly!" at every commercial break! Note: the loyalty is so strong that despite multiple TVs, NO OTHER GAME will be shown when Philadelphia is playing. While awesome for the fandom, it's not ideal for a neutral observer. Order at the bar, and your food will be brought to your table when it's ready. As you might expect, Philly cheesesteaks are the right call here - our Aristocrat Cheesesteak (rib eye steak, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, provolone cheese, served on an Amoroso roll) was hearty enough to split in two since we were only snacking rather than looking for a full meal, and very tasty. Unfortunately, our Mini Churros were served without the advertised cajeta (Mexican-style caramel) with no explanation. It was only when we ourselves brought it up that we were then told the kitchen was out. Went here for the ASU Baylor game... WHAT A NIGHT!!! We used to go to The Local downtown to watch ASU but wanted to go somewhere more cost effective and are incredibly happy for that decision. Awesome friendly and fun bartender, we got there right before kickoff and he immediately turned the volume on. We sat at the bar and more fans started to trickle in. During halftime we went over to a table of fans and started chatting.. turns out one of the guys is an ASU legend!!!!! He made the game winning interception against Harbaugh in the 1987 rose bowl, is really nice, and let me wear his ring and take pictures! I guess that's not a direct review of Goodbar but it speaks to the crowd they attract. The ambiance is great, you can order food at the bar and their food truck is just outside. I actually really like this bar. Was my first time here. Place is small but quaint. I will say that Britney was a sweetheart. She's a good bartender. Service was good, food was very good. Just great place and great bar overall! They have a really good happy hour. If you're outside and you go up to the food truck and you're attempting to order food thats on their happy hour menu you won't get the same price as if you order inside when you do the happy hour options for food. All joking aside, my wife took me here for a Yelp event, so I wanted to try their burger for myself. This little bar in Point Loma has a very small parking lot that it shares with a few other stores. Good luck finding parking! We came here around 2pm on a weekday and there was plenty of seating. Around 10 seats at the bar and maybe 10 small tables. The bartender/waitress seated us and took our orders. She was very friendly and checked on us regularly. They have a happy hour menu but it's only from 12-6p for beers and 2-6pm for food. They don't have a kitchen inside the bar, just a bar and bathroom. They do their cooking outside via a food truck. Food came out quickly, but we were only 2 of 7 people in the place. The burger was a little too charred, but overall it was tasty. It wasn't a great burger, but it was definitely a good one. The fries were a mix of soggy and crispy. Stopped by on a weekday early evening... honestly didn't realize it was an actual bar n it was getting pretty busy inside lol, we just came for the food! Haha. The food truck is situated right in front of the bar, and there are several tables outside. Obviously very casual dining. We ordered at the truck window and our food was ready in about 15 minutes. We were seated at one of the tables and they were nice enough to go out of the way to bring the food and condiments out to us. Overall the food was good, fresh, and filling. If you're at Goodbar and don't go see Brittany, you're missing out on one of the best parts of this place. She's hands down one of the friendliest, most on-point bartenders I've met in San Diego. Even when the bar's packed which it usually always is, Brittany keeps her cool, remembers your drink, and makes you feel like a regular, even if it's your first time there. Her energy is magnetic and her drinks are consistently perfect. Goodbar's already got a great vibe, but shes the one who really sets it off. Gotta love a good happy hour special. Goodbar has got my number with their $8 burger and fries special. That burger is Hella good and an excellent value, especially considering the area. The place has a fun vibe, seems like they have live music a lot of nights of the week. We've only been there during twice during happy hour, so the music was just getting started. My first visit to Goodbar was on August 1st, my Mother's borthday, who was born in 1928 in Point Loma inside of a house on McCall Street in La Playa. Robyn took care of me at the bar. Her manner was gracious and she made me feel most welcome. I chatted with a number of prople at the bar, most of whom appeared to be "locals". As a Portuguese man, I wanted to try the Fish Tacos by Tony Gomes. I enjoyed them very much. The menu offers an assortment of wings (of which I recommend the lemon pepper), some greasy sandwiches and a nice salad. Limited parking, but the small lot is much better than no lot. You might get lucky and snag an off street spot because much of the crowd is local and walk over. Don't expect anything fancy. The food comes on compostable paper plates, the outside seats are simply a counter of unfinshed wood, and the interior is dark. Some serious grub comes out of the kitchen/trailer at Good Bar! Becky and I decided to check it out on a Sunday afternoon. We thought we'd post up to the bar for some grub and watch the Padres game. When traveling west on Rosecrans St., Good Bar doesn't exactly jump out at you. It is a hidden little gem in the corner of a nondescript strip mall. It is easier to look for the giant yellow roof of the doghouse shaped Wienerschnitzel next door at the Rosecrans/Oliphant intersection. That is what we did and parked behind the doghouse. There is also a small lot out front. We walked by Adalberto's Mexican Food which faces Rosecrans and found Good Bar behind it tucked in the corner. Right out front is their trailer/kitchen were all of the magic happens. Upon entering the bar we were greeted by Robyn who was flying solo behind the bar. There were several people at the bar, a few couples scattered throughout the rest of the bar and a few folks out front on the patio. Becky and I found a two-top against the wall. Robyn was admirably taking superb care of all of us. She even found time to put the Padres game on a couple of the TVs for me. It really helps Robyn out if you the channel you want (Good Bar has DirecTV). Good Bar has a great beer tap list, but sadly for Bex no seltzers on tap. They did have Budweiser seltzers in cans which isn't ideal, but serviceable. So she went with that. I chose a pint of Good Bar Blonde brewed by Latitude 33. Bex ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad as a wrap and added bacon. I ordered the Aristocrat Cheesesteak. Becky who is not particularly a wrap fan, loved this wrap. The lettuce was fresh, the chicken was juicy, flavorful and plentiful. The added bacon was crispy, tasty and also plentiful. It was well constructed and wrapped as tightly as possible given its girth. It was a fatty. It was all Bex could do to finish half of it. I had the other half for lunch at work the following day. The wrap didn't keep well and was icky by lunchtime on Monday. The innards were fine though. I dumped them onto a plate and enjoyed a delightful Caesar salad for lunch. The Aristocrat was outstanding. Thinly sliced rib-eye steak, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, melted Provolone all nestled in a fantastic Amoroso roll. It was the perfect size sandwich. Very well constructed as well. It didn't fall apart. The steak was fabulous. Grilled perfectly and full of flavor. There were absolutely no gristly or chewy bits. High quality beef in every bite. The mushrooms were so good in this sandwich, seasoned just right. The cheese was melted throughout. The Amoroso roll was buttery and delicious. It wasn't too "bready". Perfect filling to bread ratio. Damn good sandwich! The fries served with it were outstanding as well. Hot and crispy. Damn good fries! When yelp allows us to put 1/2 stars that will be the best day! I would give this place a 3.5. It was just okay. This is a very small hole in the wall that definitely gets packed! I went during a Christmas party that a hospital was throwing so the place was PACKED! Sadly there was only ONE worker that was both bar tender and waitress. I felt very bad for her as she was trying her best to tend to the party and the non party guests. So there was terrible service, but I'm not gonna complain much about it considering she was the only one there. The food was meh. It wasn't anything special. It sounded good on the menu but when I got it, it wasn't anything to brag about. I ordered the steak sandwich and the bread tasted kind of old. It is definitely not fresh. I was very disappointed that the QR code for the beer and wine options were outdated. I wanted a certain beer and I was told they don't sell it anymore and that the menu is outdated. Stick with me on this one- you know your college bar. The one that just feels like home. Maybe the floors are a little sticky and maybe you'll lose your voice singing along to an old favorite. But your best memories come from that bar and every time you walk into it or even think about it, you're hit with a wave of nostalgia. The crowd wasn't college somethings, but instead a wide variety of locals all having a great time at their neighborhood bar. The bartenders were super friendly and everyone at the bar was sitting, chatting, singing and having a great time. They had a band playing that was super fun too. Outside, there's a food truck where you can order some delicious food. The fried fish sandwich was amazing and my husband really enjoyed his burger. This is definitely not your average bar food. The parking lot is super tiny, only fits 5 or 6 cars. The kitchen is a good truck outside. The inside was clean, new, and well decorated with lots of TVs. The server was very friendly, welcoming and kind. My husband got the fish and chips. They gave a nice portion of fish sticks. He said the fish was fresh but the breading flaked off and a bit on the greasy side. The fries claimed to be seasoned but lacks any salt or flavor. They did, however, have a good crisp to them. The Tatar sauce was bland. My Dad had the Goodland burger and he said it was average. Satisfying but nothing amazing. He agreed that the fries were Eh. My mom had the fish tacos. Showed up for a Yelp Elite Event and was welcomed by Ms. Samantha at the entrance. There were several parties in the house enjoying lunch and how convenient to work close by, I can see many patrons stopping by ever now and then. The facility is open and airy with lots of dining space to watch sports channels, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the bar on one end of the room and tv screens in the other. The kitchen is located out front in the food truck! I ordered the cheesesteak with fries and I enjoyed it! I didn't stay too long but I enjoyed chatting with Ms. Samantha to learn more about their upcoming events. They plan to have a St. Patrick's themed event and a comedy show! Parking is slim to none for this restaurant and I'm sure it's because of other great dine in places, adjacent to the restaurant. I drove around several times before a spot opened up and as busy as lunch time can get, it's always best to park in a safe spot, even for a moment. The stalls available in the open parking lot in front of the restaurant is very narrow and can get full very fast, during peak times around lunch. I drive a large vehicle so it was challenging to try and squeeze into parking spots. Street parking is best! The neighborhood behind the restaurant offers street parking. Just be careful not to block anyone's driveway, I am sure they will have your car towed at your expense. This place is a great spot for small groups to enjoy a night out of food and drinks!
