So Friendly and welcoming and offering to help! This place is bigger inside than I thought, looking from outside Lots of selection for meat. Japan A5 wagyu is $70 per lb! Lots of wine and liquor too. Also has special events, check flyers near door What a cool place

Fun meat shop with time to chill while scoping for the proper meat. LOL. Great selection of meats and wine. Chilling on a leisure Saturday afternoon with GF after lunch with a glass of wine or two in a meat market. What a great concept. Not only do they have great meat, they have ample selection of wines, liquors, and meat. One shop does all.

    Best PATTIES ever

I should have asked what's in the meat blend for their burger patties because it was the best patties my wife, friends and I ever had this weekend. I made a fairly straightforward burger but the patty was the clear winner in terms of flavor & quality. Their baby backs are nothing short of spectacular and that was a hit too. I'm so thankful to have a butcher shop like Pape so nearby! Edit: I just ate a 'special' sausage (likely pork) and it's one of the best sausages I've had. Incredibly juicy and flavorful without being overly salty or over seasoned. A quick boil and pan-fry method did the trick.

Went ahead and grabbed a roast for Christmas Eve dinner, did not disappoint! Looking forward to keeping the tradition going even further into the future.

Ask the Community - Pape Meat

Are they still taking orders thought towne.io?

    Yes

Raw bones available for purchase ? For my dog

    Yes. Frozen. 3.99lb

How can I order fresh pig knuckles cured in kosher salt and pink curing salt? I'm trying to make Berliner Eisbine and can't do the curing myself as I don't know how to safely do this.

How much per lb and what kind of A5 wagyu do you carry?

Ribeye, New York, rib cap, tenderloin and short rib are the regulars. They range from $69-$109. We occasionally bring in other off cuts. Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Hokkaido are the main regions we source from

Do i need to reserve a brisket (10-12 lbs)?

It’s always a good idea to reserve in advance but we generally have commodity and domestic wagyu on hand.

Do you have premarinated prime rib for purchase?

Yes. We will happily season to order for you

    Do you offer beef Wellington?

We offer the center cut tenderloin but not the completed Wellington

Do you still have Tomahawk porkchop? Available everyday?

Unfortunately no. We have the same chop just without the long bone

    Do you have turkey tails?

We do not. I don’t have any recommendations for alternate businesses either. I’m sorry. We do generate a decent amount of tails off our cooked turkeys during the week of thanksgiving if that helps

Hey there! Do you happen to post your inventory online? I don't see a website link or menu, but do you happen to post it on social media or other platforms?…

Towne.io has most Pape Meat items posted on their site so you can order online and get everything delivered free (along with anything else you order on the site from their other local merchant-partners). It's a big time-saver!…

Do you guys get pre-cut pork chops or do you butcher them yourself? Looking for a thick cut like almost 3"

They have the sides of beef and can cut a steak any size you like, extra thiccccccc or thin.

Will they accept EBT card for pay?

We are not currently set up for EBT cards.

Are we suppose to tip the butchers?

You can but it is not expected. We are paid to be here and love what we do. That is generally enough compensation. Thank you for being a customer!

How long should I bake the lamb chops?

Using a digital instant-read meat thermometer, check the temperature of chops while on the grill. The chops are rare at 120°F, medium rare at 125°F, medium at 130°F, and well done at 145°F and higher. Lamb can take on a gamey flavor when cooked past…

Whats the current price per $ for their A5 Wagyu?

As of May 2021 it's $89.99/lb for the ribeye

Do I need to call in advance for some dry aged beef steak?

Pape generally has some dry aged beef on hand, usually 21 or 28 days. You can order a whole subprimal (think a 22lb ribeye) and they will dry age it as long as you like.

What's in your rack of lamb rub?

    Some good s``t

How do I order shabu style meats? Do I call you ahead of time? Or is there another way to reach you since no one answers the phone?

I love Papes but There is a great Japanese market in San Mateo called Suruki's they have the meat and everything else you need for shabu shabu!

Hi! Is there any way to know the next time you'll have the orange roughy?

Communication leading up to the event was consistent and clear and everything was outlined so we knew exactly what to expect. On the day of the event, Mark and Kathy arrived early with plenty of time for a smooth and professional setup. Kathy's setup with the plates and utensil and vegetarian corner were so well thought out! They came fully prepared and ready to serve some delicious bbq. We catered for around 60 people and selected the brisket, pork baby back ribs, alongside coleslaw, potato salad, and green salad. For our vegetarian colleagues, we selected the black bean burgers, which were a thoughtful and flavorful touch. A standout highlight was the brisket carving station, which was a total crowd pleaser. Mark's meticulous attention to detail and dedication to his craft really stood out. He refuses to compromise on quality by pre slicing brisket into trays. Instead, he carved it fresh on site and the taste speaks for itself. We received an overwhelmingly positive response from the entire team- both meat lovers and veggie eaters alike. From the service to the setup to the food itself, Love & Smoke exceed expectations. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!

Very interesting store with grocery products I don't often see in the typical local markets. Seems like a lot of folks mainly come here for the hot foods and shaved ice. We ordered the loco moco with beef patty plate and the mochiko chicken plate. Total after tax and tip was slightly less than $50. Kind of pricey for two items, but the portions are large. My bf liked the loco moco more, I liked the mochiko chicken more. Good portions. Flavors aren't stand out, but okay. Could use more seasoning. The chili water that was available at each table was a good pairing for the mochiko chicken. I would give this place a 7/10. I wouldn't crave this but if I was in the area, I would come back to try the other items. Their shaved ice options for flavors were very expansive and they had a lot of different options for musubis.

Friends, myself, the non-profit I invest time with have all had the Trex Miyazaki Wagyu and to a T have all pronounced it a most special experience in beef. Last time I cooked up some, Mark advised that I cut it into big pieces, simply sea salt and fresh ground pepper season, sear (do not use any oil) in a VERY hot cast iron pan, cut into bite size pieces with simple dipping sauces. Or tartare, nigiri style, a little bit goes a long way. Regaled of tales of visits to Miyazaki to visit the meat in motion, steers are comfortably two to a corral, daily beers, massage and happy cows make incredibly marbled steaks.
