So delicious! This food truck has a standing location outside of a small market. They are so kind and have great customer service. We tried a bunch of items for our first time. My husband got the chicken bowl, and he had no complaints. I tried the Reina pepiada arepa with cheese. I'm so glad I got the cheese because it was salty and gory. The arepa was crispy and delicious. We also got the vegetarian cachapas that I sampled and then saved for lunch the next day. Wow it was spectacular. The plains were my favorite part. The corn pancake was somehow creamy like a polenta cake. I loved everything about it and can't wait to go back! This is my favorite food trucks! I catch it mostly at Dog & Pony. I'm a fan of the #9 vegan arepa, although I'm not vegan. Service is always fast and friendly. Finally something different, interesting flavors, wonderful textures. Arepas are like thick, fluffy corn cakes stuffed with savory Latin American flavors. So good. Pics say more. My first visit was a good one. I ordered a latte and arepa. I wanted to try their iced pistachio latte, but wish I'd ordered a drink that's unique to their business. I also didn't realize it would be handed to me inside the store, so I had to go back inside to get it. I was given a handheld buzzer once my arepa was ready, so I went outside to the truck to get it. It was FRESH and delicious! I'll return to try more items soon. They also have pastries and a refrigerated section with prepackaged food items. We decided to catch the food truck while it was at the market location today and are so happy we did. The food was delicious! We ordered inside and the food was made in the truck outside. It took about 10 minutes and we had our arepas and cachapas. We'll definitely be back! Everything was seasoned great and fresh. The flavors were so good even my picky 5 year old loved it. Papelon was a joy to experience for the first time. Carlos was sooo helpful in explaining the menu and giving me some great recommendations. There are a variety of breads, frozen meals and treats to buy to go as well. The arepa was so flavorful and made fresh, you have to step right outside to the food truck to pick it up but they give you a buzzer to let you know. Got to try this incredible food truck while out at Urbanrest Brewery in Ferndale and was extremely happy with this food truck. I appreciated the authentic Venezuelan menu and the wonderful service. I tried the Bratty Queen Arepa and the tequeños. They were both flavorful, fresh and delicious! The green sauce that came with everything was definitely the highlight and made everything taste even better. In addition, I appreciated that they passed out buzzers while we waited for our food. This was ideal so we could stay inside the warm brewery rather than crowding around the food truck the entire time - I hope all food trucks adopt this practice in the future. read more

Papelon Market is in a strip mall so it's easy to miss. My husband and I shared a Classic Cachapa. A yummy slightly sweet (because it's made from corn) sandwich. I'm glad we did because it's large. We also shared a Catira "Blondie". They're were both yummy but my favorite was the Arepas. The sandwiches are made in the food truck outside the store. What a great party idea! We decided to try the food truck while at Urbanrest in Ferndale. We ordered at the window and were given a pager so we could go hang inside and wait. The person working the window was helpful in guiding our first orders, and gave personal recommendations when asked. We were sad to find out they were out of Arepa's (which they're known for), but we got the cachapas instead. I wish we knew how big they were we could've shared. But the value for what you pay is awesome! I got the Full House half and half so I could try both meats. Both were incredibly flavorful but the beef was better IMO. The fried plantains on it were phenomenal, and I would just eat the corn cake by itself it was so good. My husband had the shredded beef and cheese and he loved it as well. We also got the Venezuelan cheese sticks and boy were these superior to the American style ones. The dough around the cheese was delicious, and we wish we ordered more. We tried various arepas. Not what we, as Venezuelan citizens would expect. The reina pepiada should be larger chunks of chicken and fresh, not brown avocado, with an option of cilantro and perhaps some flavor of a dash of vinegar. The side of sauce was flavorful but an authentic guasacaca would have been better. The black beans tasted like they were poured directly out of a can of Meijers or Goya, a shame. The cheeses were good and the plátanos (plantain) were excellent. Unfortunately the arepas themselves were reheated, hard, and tasted like they were made a few days ago. They were hard and flavorless, needed at least some care. Even the recipe on the packet of Harina Pan would taste better than these. Will try again when the recipes improve. Good to see this place up around town. I tried them as my wife wanted to try "the new food truck" in the neighborhood and food was tasty. Good replacement for the old Vanazuelan restaurant "Rey de las arepas". However, once we ordered a party box to eat at home with family and the food was very cold when it arrived to us, that sucked because our guests couldn't get the full taste of it. Being someone that grew up in New Jersey where there was an abundance of Hispanic culture and moving to Detroit that definitely lacks that, this brings me back to my roots. Arepas are how I started my everyday morning routine back home. This really brought me back and the flavors are really there.
