Awesome latte... I heard about these guys at the Camas farmer's market and had to visit their store. The owners are super friendly. I love that they roast their beans right in the store, it makes coffee as local as it can get...unless there is a coffee grower in-state I am not aware of...hmm. Love local roasteries. Awesome quaint little shop. Ordered a cappuccino, which is my barometer of both roast quality/flavor and barista. The first couple sips were very bitter and burnt tasting, but then it was pretty delicious. Smooth and creamy. Almost like a dessert. The foam was nice and dense; properly steamed. I first heard of Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters at the Camas Farmers Market.The guy I talked to was super cool so I went to their cafe today, ordered an iced mocha and an iced coffee. The mocha was good, the iced coffee was interesting. I had four people try it, all the same thought, kinda odd tasting. I think I will go back and try a different blend. Overall, I liked the atmosphere; the artwork was awesome, the barista was nice, and the coffee is worth another shot to me- I think it was just too sweet for my liking. I would suggest you try it! A really adorable cafe in a pretty quiet area. They offer many milk alternatives, which is great. They make all their syrups in house and the espresso is delish. For my first time I just picked up a basic chai latte, but it was really good for the spice having been made in-house. It was full so there was noise, but it was quiet enough that I could not only hear myself think, I could also hear the roasting coffee beans in the back of the room. I go to Clark right next to Paper Tiger and today, I finally got around to trying it. I ordered a chai latte since I've never had one before; I was expecting it to taste bad since I don't like the taste of cinnamon and I was right but I went home and added whipped cream and it tasted like a pumpkin latte and ended up being delicious! As for the atmosphere, I LOVED how cozy and nice it was. Even though it was blazing 90 degrees outside, I felt like it was winter time again. They have a bookshelf full of classic and old books which I loved. I already mentally noted the ones I'm planning to read whenever I come there! I feel like this place isn't try hard "hipster" or "Portland". I think it's just a down to earth place with a really welcoming staff. The guy there (I assume was the owner, Zachary) was really nice and attentive. He also had some jazzy hip-hop like beats playing softly in the background which was a huge surprise and plus for me! read more

Paper Tiger gets their beans straight from the source, and roast it in the shop, they have homemade syrup, and nothing there is pre-made, everything is made from scratch. The drinks they make there are worth every penny, reasonably priced, and not to mention delicious! The atmosphere there is extremely calming and welcoming, nearly every customer that comes in are, authentic coffee enthusiast, which make a great environment for your typical Sunday morning spot to meet up with friends, work on art, etc... Kenny also showcases local artists, ranging from abstract, surreal, street art, pretty much anything you can imagine on a weekly to monthly basis. Kenny is extremely community-oriented and constantly helps out other businesses, and people in the area as well. This place came recommended to me by a friend. I live close by and wish I had found them sooner!! I work across the street from a Starbucks so it's too easy in the morning to run over there. I now make an effort to stop here on my way. The staff is friendly, the coffee is well crafted, new specials everyday, even if it's just a discount on something you'd usually get. They really know there stuff and aren't snobby about it, they will talk coffee and roasting and home-made syrups all day long. Their coffee is wonderful, their home-made flavorings are amazing, and the people there are welcoming. They can brew your drink a million different ways, drip, percolate, french-press, and don't even get me started on the teas. I love local roasters and I try to give all of them a couple attempts. I have purchased bean from here 2 times in the last year or so. Both times, I was a little less then impressed with the help I was given while asking questions about the different origins or flavor notes. I believe that the coffee itself is decent but is not the taste that I look for in my coffee. It was very similar to beans I have gotten from K&F which are not my style. One of my co-workers really enjoyed the coffee and he claims to love super dark roasted coffee while most of us felt it was more burned then dark. I would suggest giving them a try as they are a local roasters and seeing if they are your taste. I guess I like a lighter roast with more complex flavors (Compass, Extracto, Trailhead, Coava, Heart) read more

After paying for a Rosy Cakes cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting on the side, and a molasses cookie, I enter Paper Tiger. A coffee roaster smolders in the back corner, flames in its guts, coffee beans swirling in a pan emitting an earthly smell. Perfect enticement for a coffee with backdrop music of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon ode' for excitable writing. I order a Brazilian mix, pumpkin cookie, and move my laptop to a table flanking the chrome roaster. I sip the Brazil, fork off a sliver of cookie with frosting on top. Soft, very rich and flavored intensely. Just like the java follow up. The roaster goes swish...swish and the I can only wish...wish, I had one of these bean cookers at home. read more

I have recently moved to East Vancouver and Paper Tiger just happened to be one of the coffee places within a close vicinity. My first time visiting the barista was awesome. She could probably tell it was my first time getting coffee there and did a great job explaining what they were about and what they do. This in itself to me was a huge surprise, unlike other coffee shops you can tell they aren't just there to take your order, get you your drink, and get to the next customer. Went with a few friends. Tables that could sit 4 people all full with 1 person on their laptops. I had the hot chocolate and was surprised how sweet it tasted with very little chocolate flavor. Like it was a Hershey powder mix with heaping spoons of sugar. Just awful bad. I ended up drinking water while my friends had coffee. For the price, coffee was fine, nothing special, just like most self-roasting coffee places. Good coffee is good coffee. Probably wont go back. The vibe was odd, everyone with headphones on and attending to their laptops. The owner smiled at us, the worker behind the counter was happier to leave on their break then they were to entertain our questions. Yeah...probably won't go back. read more

Cute little place! No! Beyond cute! Decor includes canvas coffee sacks from every blend the house roasts, including beans from Guatemala, Brazil, Sumatra, Ethiopia, others. Had me a lovely cappuccino and TO-DIE-FOR cookies from local Julia Bakery, peanut butter and chocolate-vanilla-frosted sugar cookies were the cream of the crop. Owner Kenny Fletcher was a sweet host, filling us in on the backstory for every up-for-sale painting on the wall. He took the time to chat us to our fill. Service was all-around smooth and the black-haired barista's musical choices on the iHome were to my taste: Lana Del Rey, The White Stripes, Weezer...the song choices being low-key and laid-back. I'm kind of sad this place isn't close to my SE home, but I don't think we have the population to support the rich, homey, community atmosphere. read more

Paper Tiger is conveniently located within walking distance of where I go to school. They have a friendly & relaxed atmosphere which is always a plus, but they do have a downfall... Basic coffee here only! Great price for what you get, but I am not a fan of plain coffee - I like my Caramel Frappuccinos! Otherwise, they are a great local coffee shop that enjoys helping their local community.
