I had to ask what to do and how this works because no one really explained anything, other than telling me what door to walk through. Two girls working are fairly young; possibly college-age? They just sat in the room and talked while I interacted with the cats. I did ask questions and one of them answered and did engage. These cats are adoptable, and I think the staff could do more to advertise or promote that. Maybe because I'm a big cat and dog lover, I just expected more enthusiasm?

The place is extremely clean, well decorated and has amazing places for cats to play and hide when they need to. It isn't really a "cat cafe" in that they only have a few packaged drinks and snacks, but you are there for the cats. The cats vary widely in temperment (as cats will do). Some of the younger ones wanted to play and didn't mind contact, but some of the more mature ones were a bit feisty. I got a *very* tiny bite that I deserved :-). Be aware of kitty signals about how interactive they want to be. The owners are amazing and explained the procedures clearly. No pressure or even questions about adopting, they let the cats speak for themselves. If I were a cat I think I'd want to just stay there!

It's in an historic building and also offers free ukulele workshops by one of the co-founders of the café (which I didn't get to see, lol). His handcrafted banjolike instruments - made out of tin boxes, wood, and bent quarters - are also offered for fun and for sale. I think I saw an Altoids guitar for $50. The soup of the day (tomato basil) was really good, but the fresh-baked BREAD is what really got me! And I'm not usually a bread person. Keep in mind they close at 3. The food was amazing. I loved it. Our parents loved it. Literally everyone I talked to love it. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and delicious. One of the highlights of the first day of married life was devouring the leftovers (yes, they help you package those to take them home - you paid for them, after all!). I honestly can't pick one aspect of our menu that trumped the others, it was all so delightful. The appetizers were great, the main course (we did a buffet) was amazing, and the desserts (we had an assortment) were splendid. Second, the staff. Everyone that worked on our reception was great. Erin's clear communication made planning everything a breeze, and Desiree's oversight ensured that everything went smoothly during the event. Cloud Nine will transport a set amount of materials to the venue for you (we had them transport our table numbers and runners). The Ellie Mitchell Pavilion has a super strict timeline, so this was a huge help. Being that its a historic building, the Pavilion also has really strict rules about where, how, and when the food can be prepared. Cloud Nine takes all of that in stride every time they cater an event there, and made sure everything was executed in compliance with the policies. Knowing I was in such good hands took a huge amount of stress off of me during that day! Third, the staff again. This was huge. During the reception, Cloud Nine puts someone in charge of making sure the bride and groom has all the food and drink they need during photos, etc before the entrance. AMAZING. This meant that we actually got to enjoy the delicious appetizers, rather than having to miss out. It also meant that we got to enjoy a beverage and take a minute to relax! Fourth, the pricing. Catering a large event is never very economical, regardless of who caters it. I think that Cloud Nine offers an amazing service at a very reasonable price. In addition, Erin was incredibly accommodating in creating a menu that not only covered all of the food and drink we wanted, but also fit within our budget. Honestly, I have nothing but glowing reviews of Cloud Nine catering. I wish that we didn't live in CA and could stop by their cafe for a bite to eat! Our experience with them was amazing, and I highly recommend them.
