Absolutely delicious food. I've had the regular elote and it was fantastic. Creamy and not overly spicy. Their guacamole is smooth overall with a few small chunks of avocado and slightly spicy. And their fajitas are the best in town and are a must have. They've also got the best chicken soup in Lexington. The service is always fast and friendly to go along with the atmosphere of the place. Outdoor dining is also available. Overall it's the best Mexican food in all of Lexington. read more

So the 1st strike was Mexican beers on draft at a Mexican restaurant. If you like West Sixth and domestics then you're good. Although don't ask the waitress what the beers on draft are because, i don't know was her go to answer apparently. 2nd strike was the non-traditional ceviche, which is supposed to be your protein, typically fish or shrimp, brined in the juices of lime with tomato, cilantro, onion, jalapeño, etc. This was steamed shrimp on top of Pico de Gallo on top of lettuce. It was terrible. The street tacos were decent but not enough to save the visit. 3rd strike was just the slow service. Felt like they just wanted to be communing at the hostess desk. I was originally gonna go to old faithful, Hacienda, but I decided to try this out on a recommendation. I'm reconsidering my friendship with that person. Can't review because I can't get seated. I've walked in three different times after getting my nails done next door. The staff, including the bartender, would not acknowledge me although they clearly saw me. I'm one person not a big group. Perhaps they don't want a single person. I dined you a few months ago and had a good experience. Sadly, today's experience was not good. We dined outside. Very slow and disorganized service. Couldn't even get a water. When my house whisky* arrived, it was in a dirty plastic tumbler with debris stuck to the plastic glass. I promptly tossed the contents in the grass next to my table. All tables near me were receiving slow service and mixed up orders. My dining companion finally got her Chicken soup. I didn't order any food myself. In no small part because I kept catching a foul odor. It smelled like dirty kitchen. In truth I don't know where the odor originated from but decided not to risk any digestive issues. The staff was nice but there are a lot of better places to go if you want good Mexican food. Everyone should try Campestre. So today is our first day visiting this establishment and let me tell you something, they only have 2 servers at the moment. For a restaurant moderately busy, these servers kick ass. EVEN the General Manager is helping out. The chips and salsa are delicious and we ordered a side of Guacamole and love that as well. So far my experience has been great. The host was very friendly and very accommodating as to where we wanted to sit. So we ordered our food and I got the Arroz Con Pollo and my wife Ordered the Burrito Grande. The food was very delicious and hot. At the top I mentioned that the General Manager was helping out, I was told later that was the Owner of the Restaurant helping out. Okay mind blown here. Look you guys, everything from beginning to end was fabulous. We were not at all disappointed at all. I'd give this place more than 5 stars if I could but, unfortunately I can't. I told the owner that the food was delicious and I told the Waitress that we would be back. If you are in the Nicholasville area and want good Mexican food, THIS is the place to be. Love Papi's Palomar! The patio is huge and there's good cover from sun and rain. There are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. The barbacoa...delicious! Try some of the more authentic dishes to get the best experience...barbacoa, Marcos shrimp, Chile verde, mole. Great margaritas not filled with sour mix and simple syrup and a wide variety of flavors. Very friendly staff and there's a great chance you will meet Papi while you are there! Had family in, talking about how awesome the margaritas were, (and it was), but was shocked a frozen margarita pitcher cost $55.00 and $62.00 with tip. One pitcher. We ordered a second pitcher, the "cheaper" one, for $40.00. It was $26.00 over the summer. My daughter googled the average price. It is $26.00 or so. Certainly not $55.00. I came for the margarita pitcher but probably will not come back for the margarita pitcher. And. I like this place. But the pitcher price is absurd. And. And. My first two curbside pickup experiences at Papi's were great. The staff were prompt in bringing my food out to me and everything was accurate. My third experience with them, today, has put me off of ordering from here for a while. I ordered cheese dip (the appetizer size, from the list of 'popular items' on the Toast ordering app) and the burrito with shredded chicken. In all, it was a little over $20 of food, so not a huge order. It estimated about 30 minutes before the food would be ready. I show up to Papi's a few minutes after the time it was supposed to be ready and wait. In the past, they have been super prompt about bringing the food out, but today I waited 10 minutes and then called. The guy who answered the phone didn't seem to know that I had placed an order, said he will check, and hung up. No one came out, so 5 minutes later I go in and speak to another staff member. I had to tell her what I ordered, and she picked up the bag and gave it to me. I should have checked the contents of the bag, but unfortunately I didn't. I got home and the cheese was missing. I also didn't get any salsa like I have gotten in the past, which was odd. I called (I got hung up on the first time, but I called again) and let them know that I did not receive my cheese and they said they would have it ready. I drove back and walked in and spoke to other staff members, showed them my ticket, and they got me my cheese after talking amongst themselves. They were never apologetic. If I got the right amount of cheese, it's a very tiny amount for paying $5. I think they gave me a side when I ordered the appetizer size. I'm not sure why they could not look up the online order details, but they never did. I will be going elsewhere in the future. I live nearby so I thought Papi's was going to be a regular for me, but after today's experience I don't think so. read more

There are way too many Mexican restaurants in Lexington/Jessamine to receive this bad of service! Our waitress(black hair w red stripe in hair) took our drink order and 5 minutes later came back to get our food order and didn't even realize she had not brought our drinks. Then when we received our food (from a different server) our waitress came by and said is everything ok, both drinks were empty and chips were empty.... We asked for more chips , she took basket and never brought it back... we finally waved her down and she had no clue so we said again more chips? She still brought no drinks! In the meantime there are 3 people wrapping silverware for tomorrow!! (They should have been helping w tables!!)I looked around and counted 12 empty glasses! Food was good , so normally this would be our 1-2 times a week dinner spot. Not Now , NEVER again ! read more

This place is amazing. I went in a sunny day, and the grass, the people, the servers and everything just made my afternoon. If your in summer is the best, I can't wait to see wait they'll have prepare for winter. The food is stunning, I had tamales. God, tamal with raja and cheese, should be or obligatory plate every week. The soft of the tamal with the salty of the cheese dip is the perfect combination. Papis at Palomar has worked out any staffing issues since some of these reviews were written when they first opened. We love their large patio when dining with friends. The food is amazing and authentic Mexican. Marcos' mother developed the mole recipe and is still making it for the restaurant. We go most Friday nights. I like it, my husband likes it, my kids like it, our friends like it. We went Friday and are going back for Father's Day. I would recommend their carnitas, Marcos Camarones in garlic and olive oil, the Veracruz pescado, enchiladas suiza, quesadillas, Mexican chicken soup and definitely their margaritas! read more

Dined in a while back with my daughter and although the service was very slow, the waitress (young light skinned black girl) was extremely nice and it appeared they were understaffed. The food was good (not great/HOT) and I gave her a $20 cash tip on top of what my daughter included when she paid our ~$24 bill. Flip-side... I have since ordered "to-go" 5 or 6 times and they have NOT ONCE gotten my order correct. I learned after the 1st time to check it before I left and went home,.. BUT what is the point of calling in a to-go order IF you have to wait another 15 minutes for them to re-make the order (because it's ALWAYS wrong) when you arrive? It also never seems to be HOT, even after waiting. Again, even after a "brief perusal" in restaurant, twice I realized at home they did not include one item. Margaritas was the plus. Food is good but definitely not great. Burrito grande was basically shredded chicken only. Hard to find any beans or rice in it. Soup that was served with it served as a dip to combat the dryness but definitely not a good soup. Hubby says Tamales are good. Management and server were great! I've eaten at their Euclid location and enjoyed my meals very much. Went to check out their Palomar location and wow. Disappointed. We ordered 1/2 frozen 1/2 regular margaritas. They showed up loaded with ice and the flavor was terrible. They were undrinkable. We sent them back and changed to Dos Equis which were cold and delicious. Chips were fresh, salsa was sub par and seemed to be canned with nothing fresh. . Guacamole was decent. Ordered meat and cheese chili rellano which arrived soggy with zero cheese and weird random bites of sweetness. Waiter didn't come back to table until check out. Never going back. read more

I've given this place three opportunities to impress me and I'm sorry to say it just hasn't. I thought my last visit I would try a safe bet and get a burrito. It came on the plate with a small garnish, a bowl of I'm assuming what was a bland flavorless tortilla soup, and a small burrito which consisted of mostly a wrap, about 4 inches long, with a few strips of what was supposed to be grilled chicken but had no grill marks, only white and flavorless, and some dried out rice. No cheese sauce or anything to moisten it up and give a little flavor. I've had better burritos from the Dollar Store freezer for far less than $15.00! They need to visit a few good Mexican places and learn how to cook Mexican. Sorry for the poor review, I usually just pay and go but I hate to see places close up and leave an empty building. I went there tonight after working 13 hours looking for a beer and dinner. I sat at the bar where 2 others were sitting eating their dinner. I asked the lady bartender for a beer and some chips. She gave me the beer and said someone else would bring me the chis and salsa. Obviously she is union paid. No one brought me anything as she beat on the ice in the ice well. Melted cheese chorizo appetizer is too runny to get to face without drips. Shredded Chicken quesadilla - large dry chunks amid shreds. Pico fresh - rice and beans so so. This place was hot dumpster juice. Taco Bell has better food and service. Gordon Ramsey wouldn't fix this nightmare he'd just tell them all to give up and turn that place into a Taco Bell so as to get some quality food in the community. Campestre and el charro are so much better then this place it's unreal. If my food would have had some taste or even just a remanence of decent Mexican cuisine I'd a been able to deal with the 30 flies out side molesting my food. We went in for drinks and an appetizer. The bartender, Shayla, was so great and the margaritas (Papi's) were also great! Lots of outdoor seating and every worker was very nice. The salsa had just enough spice and a nice balance of cilantro. We ended up sharing a shredded chicken enchilada between the two of us and the flavor of that was great. I love their refried beans.
