This was confusing and frustrating, as there was a clear stack of clean, visible cups right in front of them. When a business refuses to honor a simple, reasonable request--and even attempts to mislead the customer about inventory--it suggests a deep lack of respect for both the customer and the quality of their own product experience. Finally made it to this place on this beautiful warm day to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and try their food here. It's a cute place, plenty of seating inside, cozy industrial modern vibe - they also sell their shirts. I got the sunshine wrap which was huge, two people can share it and I thought it was average tasting. It came with balsamic on the side that was tasty; I added sriracha and that gave it a nice kick and a fresh lemonade which I also thought was average, and my daughter had the avocado toast. We sat outside in their cute street patio that had plenty of seating which was great. I should mention that after we got in line, the line got longer and was still that way even after we got our food but with people in line, I had to kind of weave through people to go in and out to grab our drinks and get napkins and go back for more sriracha and weave myself back through the line to get back out to the patio. I can tell customers in line were annoyed because of people weaving through them so may be a good idea to have a definite 'line only' to make it easier for people to get in and out of the place and those in line to be just in line without people cutting them every second. read more

We decided to go to Rooted Coffee to get some work done and try out their drinks! It is located across a parking garage (1st hour free, 1.25 for each hour after). There is also street parking! We arrived around 2 and luckily got a table as soon as we got there. The WiFi is located near the register. WiFi worked well for us today! As for the drinks, we ordered an iced Americano and a pumpkin spice chai latte with almond milk. The coffee wasn't as strong as we'd hope for, but it was decent! The pumpkin spice chai latte was super heavy on the cinnamon or nutmeg. A bit too much spice. It tasted spicy. Overall, the vibes were great! It was a great atmosphere to get stuff done. I would come back to try other drinks and their food. I like how this is a plant based cafe as I am not a dairy girl! 10/10 experience, 7/10 drinks! read more

Been living in Walnut Creek for over a year now and cannot believe I have been missing out on this gem of a coffee shop! When I entered I immediately felt the cozy vibes. Pretty spacious area with tables and couches as well to sit at. They actually have their own coffee beans that they sell, which I plan to try at home. I got the matcha latte with oat milk and could tell they use high quality matcha. However, I would have liked my drink a bit stronger but otherwise tasted very delicious. Barista was very friendly and I did not have to wait too long for my drink. Parking - I would park at the nearby garage to avoid having to pay the meters. Avocado Dream - Make it Fresh (minus the red pepper flakes). The balsamic and micro greens just give it that extra deliciousness. The thick slice of bread is also great. We made the mistake (not really) of ordering the Chunky Monkey smoothie. Now it's a must-do every time! I tried The Health Coach smoothie on my last visit. Also good! I wish that my lattes were a bit hotter. I did ask for extra-hot on my last visit. I think that's the way to go and will emphasize that I really do want it extra-hot on future visits. Maybe I am bias but this place was just what I didn't know I needed to find. I recently became dairy free and having been a vegetarian for 18 years, I was jazzed to find this vegan haven. I have been to their cafe in PH but really enjoyed checking out their market items. They have a great selection of food, snacks galore, and beverages in addition to their cafe menu. Love supporting this local family business and their delicious drinks! A friend from the peninsula was visiting WC and we wanted coffee, so I took him here to try something unique to the area. We got the Hunny Lavender Matcha and the Orange Rosemary Matcha with oat milk, which had light matcha flavor with pleasant additional sweetness of the added flavors, and we loved them both instantly on the first sip. This establishment lets in pet dogs which was not advertised clearly-- so unfortunately it's not really a safe spot for service dogs. It's also not so accessible. Rooted is a great little vegan spot for coffee and food. Their avocado toast is delicious, as are some of the other treats I've had. They offer loads of different plant-based milks, and they keep their cool pretty well when people get irritated they can't get regular milk because they don't realize it's 100% vegan. I've been there several times and I've always had a good experience. Last time I was a little disappointed because I asked about the golden latte and what was in it, how it's prepared, and, most importantly, what it was sweetened with. The cashier told me that it is not sweetened. I said "great!" because I didn't want something sweet! Perfect! When I got it, it was super sweet! I'm guessing that it is made with something that is sweetened and there are no additional sweeteners added. If so, I think they should specify that, especially if somebody is asking for something that's not sweetened. Just my two cents. I have learned from my mistake and I will absolutely ask more questions, but that was a bit of a fail. I did think it tasted good, but I didn't want anything sweet. I've been wanting to try Rooted Coffee for a while now, and this week when I was finally back in the Dub C, I had the opportunity. I'm a huge fan of plant-based foods and super fuel to kick start or add a pick me up during the day, and appreciate that Rooted is "rooted" in this belief of nourishing only the good stuff for your body. They're a plant-based cafe that serves breaky, wraps, salads, baked goods, coffee, smoothies, juice, teas, and grab & go snacks in cool and hip co-working digs. I asked the staff for a recommendation on coffee drinks because the menu is super unique and fun. I ended with an iced matcha with a bit of maple syrup and omg, it was amazing! You can choose to add other additional flavor shots like monkfruit, agave, ginger, and coconut to name a few and oat/almond as the milk options. Apparently the iced matcha with maple is what all the cool kids are ordering, and it didn't disappoint. Food wise I ordered the Avocado Dream - Make It Fresh! All avocado toasts come with cashew cream cheese, hemp seeds, chili flakes, and this specific one was additionally topped with balsamic and micro greens. Honestly, perfection. If you're a fan of pumpkin spice and everything nice, there is an awesome seasonal menu currently including pumpkin granola, protein donuts, toasts, and more. I will def come back to co-work (WiFi password is near the register/pick up area) and order other fun drinks/snacks. I was forced to have macadamia milk in my coffee as I have an intolerence to most non dairy milk (first time having macademia milk). So happy to have found this place! They're a plant-based shop with a full range menu from drinks to pastries and meal items. I ordered the sweater weather latte, which is a Cappuccino with cinnamon nutmeg maple syrup, and the blueberry donut which was good, but not as blueberry forward as others I've had. They allow reusable cups and are dog friendly so needless to say the vibes were immaculate. There's a comfy cozy couch area, along with table& bar seating, both indoor and outdoor. I didn't realize this place was a plant-based cafe when I initially visited because I thought my first drink was with whole milk instead of oat milk, but upon the second visit, the cashier clarified that the default is oat milk. Needless to say, I quite enjoyed the brown sugar latte and the winter solstice latte. Both were fantastically made with a good balance of sweetness and bitterness. Staff greets you with a smile and is super friendly. There is street parking, but also a parking structure with the first hour free. Inside has a good amount of seating and it seemed like everyone sitting in was ordering food. I recently discovered Rooted carries macadamia nut milk so we decided to drop in this weekend to try them out. Walking in the layout felt strange because the space wasn't designed to be a coffee shop (originally it was a lounge called Lift) and due to the odd setup its four person line was out the door. After a longer than expected wait, we encountered friendly service and ordered a blueberry doughnut and a cardamom maple latte with macadamia milk to share. The drink came out quickly but unfortunately had an odd burst of aftertaste which I found it unpleasant while it lasted, and the blueberry doughnut was similar to a glazed old fashioned but was a bit too doughy for my taste. At the end of the day, Rooted could definitely do with adding in an order tablet at the front, similar to Palmetto Superfoods, and while the honey enjoyed their wares, they sadly weren't a good fit for me. read more

Nestled in between restaurants and cafes in downtown Walnut Creek (Locust St) is an adorable cafe, Rooted Coffee. My kids and I are true blue avocado toast aficionados, and boy, does this place have delicious avo toast options. I tried the Avocado Dream (Make It Sunny), avocado toast topped with turmeric smashed chickpea with a housemade pesto drizzle. It was tasty, filling and exceptional in crunch (the bread is thick, but light and crispy toasted). My son tried the avocado toast topped with crunched up Takis (pictured). Also, delicious and let's face it fun. Their coffee roasts are bot to be skipped. I got a pound to take home and enjoyed their Boomerang blend (with heavy blueberry undertones) all week long.
