I hesitate to write a review and give 2/5 stars, but maybe it was an off day for the cook since there are many good reviews. Showed up on a Friday for brunch with two other people. We were seated pretty quickly. This was my first time here and the interior was very nicely decorated - a fresh spring feeling. All three of us ordered something different and 2/3 were NOT happy with the flavor of the food. Food - Steak and gravy - bad flavor, person did not end up finishing or taking it home - Eggs Benedict - NO flavor and was very disappointing Again this might have been an off day, but for 2/3 meals to not be good is very disappointing. We decided to visit Breakfast Club at Midtown Lafayette after hearing so many glowing reviews. I know they have several locations throughout the Bay Area, but since we were in Lafayette, we figured we'd finally give this one a try. We arrived around 11:30 a.m on Monday. There was only one party ahead of us waiting to be seated, and it didn't even appear that they had been acknowledged. About two or three minutes later, a gentleman came over, asked how many were in their party, and seated them. We then waited another five minutes before the bartender finally looked over and asked, "Have you been helped?" We replied, "No." He asked how many were in our party, whether we preferred inside or outside seating, and then seated us inside. After sitting for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from the server, the bartender returned and took our order. I had two very simple modifications to my meal. I repeated them a couple of times just to make sure they were noted, as they were nothing complicated. I simply didn't want two ingredients that normally came as garnishes. The bartender read my order back, confirmed the modifications, and walked away. About 35 minutes later, our food finally arrived, but we still hadn't received our beverages. I politely asked another server, who had yet to acknowledge us once during our visit, if we could please get our cappuccino. He brought over a regular coffee instead. I politely explained that we had actually ordered a cappuccino. He seemed irritated but said, "Fine, I'll go get it for you." Unfortunately, my food wasn't prepared correctly despite the bartender repeating the order back to me. Even more disappointing, my entire meal was ice cold. The scramble was cold, the toast was cold, and honestly, nothing on the plate was warm. What made the experience even more frustrating was that there wasn't a single opportunity to mention any of this. The bartender never came back. The server never checked on us. Even the person who delivered our food never returned to ask how everything was. We were essentially forgotten after our meals were dropped off. I genuinely hate writing negative reviews because I work in customer service myself and understand firsthand how overwhelming the service industry can be. I completely understand getting busy. What I don't understand is completely ignoring your guests. Even when you're overwhelmed, acknowledging customers and checking in, even briefly, makes a huge difference. Looking back, I probably should have taken the condition of the restaurant as a warning sign. When we walked in, there were numerous tables inside that still had dirty plates, cups, and leftover food from previous guests. The outdoor patio looked the same. What surprised me most was that many of those same tables were still covered in dirty dishes when we left. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I was expecting much more than what we experienced. We spent over $50, received cold food, an incorrect order, waited an unusually long time for drinks, and never had a single opportunity to let anyone know because no one ever checked on us. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, so after a little hike with a friend, we decided to stop by since the menu looked great! We were sat pretty quickly, though we were in the middle of the restaurant, where it was extremely noisy, so when a table opened up in a corner (before we ordered), we asked to move, and our server was kind enough to oblige. Unfortunately, the experience went fully south from here. After about 10 minutes in total, our waiter stopped by and we ordered our drinks and breakfast, and also asked for water. Another 15 minutes later, our lattes showed up. I asked for water again, and he seemed surprised by the request. He brought the waters and then asked if we were ready to now order our food.... which we had already done. Luckily, the food showed up a couple minutes later, so it had been put in and he just forgot. My friend got the spinach omelet, which she said was overcooked and had zero flavor. I ordered the corned beef hash, which also had zero flavor. Overall, just loud, inattentive and forgetful service, but also, flavorless food. We love this location! It's much more spacious, cleaner, and lots of bright natural lighting with an addition of outdoor seating! We've always loved going to the OG San Jose location but this one here is much better. Our favorite dish here, chicken n' waffles tasted just like the SJ one. The chicken pieces were fried perfectly, waffles were cakey and crisp, and the gravy was flavorful all around. I personally love adding hot sauce into the gravy for additional heat & flavor. My friend and I share a birthday and every year we pick somewhere to go out to eat with our moms. This year we checked out the breakfast club. I had the farm table bloody Mary, which was very refreshing and delicious. We all shared an order of the blueberry ricotta pancakes, which had just the right touch of sweetness to them. For my main meal, I had the breakfast enchiladas which I thoroughly enjoyed. They were filled with eggs and chorizo and topped with guacamole, sour cream, and pickled jalapeño. I especially liked that it came with a side of refried beans. I took off one star because the ambience was not quite there for me. Not only does sound carry in a busy restaurant like this one, but they had music playing very loudly throughout the restaurant. On more than one occasion we had to either ask our waiter to repeat himself or he had to have us repeat ourselves because he couldn't hear us speaking. That is the only thing I would change about my experience. Otherwise, I would recommend eating outside if you want to make sure you can hear the other person talking. read more

It also took a while to get seated on a Thursday afternoon as they seemed a bit understaffed. This most recent visit I got the carnitas eggs benedict with herbed potatoes. This place is located in a very cute area where you can walk around afterwards to help with any food coma! I came here with my hubs, mom, and grandma. We were craving brunch and I ordered the seafood omelet with freshly squeezed orange juice. The seafood omelet was AMAZING. I thought it was flavored really well and they really stuffed it with the right amount of seafood. Sometimes, restaurants skimp out on the seafood so I was really happy about it. The orange juice was also just really refreshing, you can never go wrong with fresh orange juice! The service was really fast since we got there fairly early so everything got to us quickly and our waiter was really friendly - I have no complaints about the service! This is a popular venue and generally involves a wait during premium brunch hours, but -- only so-so in my opinion? The question mark is because I took a long time to complete this review, and I had it rated as a 4 originally. However, time has passed and I haven't felt strongly compelled to return. I recall enjoying my Shrimp & Crab Omelette well enough, but it was a bit bland, so not very memorable. I had to douse it in a bit of hot sauce. I also recall the service being totally fine, but again, not memorable in any way. I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant itself since we ate outside, preferring the first available table (again, because of the wait). I'm sure that part of the popularity of this restaurant is due to the extensive menu, and it does seem unfair to judge an establishment on just a single option when they offer so many. On the other hand, it's sometimes true that a restaurant trying to produce too many dishes will fail to execute exceptionally on any of them. Met a friend at the Breakfast Club at Midtown for brunch. It was very busy on a Sunday late morning but we were seated within 5 minutes. I had the crab and shrimp omelette. It was spectacular and a large portion. I also had the traditional mimosa. The juice was freshly squeezed which may have overpowered the sparkling wine. Everything came out hot and fresh, which I always appreciate. On the side, I got the hash browns (crispy and satisfying) and the coffee cake, which honestly deserves its own shoutout. It arrived warm, packed with berries, and was such a delicious and unique substitute for toast, sweet but not overly so, and a great complement to the savory meal. My partner went with the Basic Breakfast, and it was equally delicious, simple, classic, and executed perfectly. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is legit and tastes exactly how fresh OJ should. Ambiance-wise, it does get a little loud, but that's totally expected for a popular brunch spot and honestly adds to the energy. A big bonus is the walk-in bar seating, which is a fairly large area with big TVs, perfect for catching early morning sports while enjoying breakfast. All around, this location nails it every time. Went on a Sunday morning and easy to get a spot at the bar for one. There will be a wait if you want a table and the wait time will vary depending on the time you get there. It did take a while for us to get help, maybe they were short handed but other tables were helped immediately while we weren't even brought utensils or water. That was the only negative part of this place. Once we were helped our server was kind and attentive. My husband got a Mariachi Mary and it was great; they make the mix in house and we would've loved to have purchased it for home. I got a pomegranate mimosa, also great. What a cool spot here in the East Bay! These portions are massive - if you're looking to get your money's worth, this is your place! The restaurant is nice inside, no issues there. The service was okay enough and not because they didn't care, but because there were only a handful of employees working with a pretty busy pace. They were definitely hustling around, they just could use a few more bodies. The George Scramble was huge, consisting of (4) eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The spicy Korean Chicken fried rice was big enough for 2 people itself. Not knowing, we also ordered a side of Linguica Sausage (one of my favorites when I see it) and candied bacon. I am late to review one of my favorite places in Lafayette. The secret to this place, which I hesitate to divulge, is to sit at the bar and enjoy their awesome bartenders. Case in point: Carlos, who makes an excellent drink, provides spot-on service, and is friendly and fun. The food is also excellent and portions are huge. For me, this is a key place to enjoy a solid brunch and/or drink before getting my nails done next door at Level Up. Now if only Level Up served a Melon Smash as good as Carlos makes them. Maybe The Breakfast Club can one day partner with Level Up to bring cocktails directly to my manicures. Came here for a late breakfast after a long run and was starving. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge--I even had leftovers to take home. One thing I really liked is that the bar is first come, first served. The tables had a wait, but since it was just the two of us, we grabbed seats at the bar as soon as someone left. Started with mango mimosa and elevated mimosa and loved the freshly squeezed orange juice. Drinks were strong and were fine. Served on bigger glasses vs a flute that you'd normally get elsewhere. Seated outside patio and didn't mind enjoying the sunny weather in the cozy alley. Different selections on the menu and my appetite is drawn to the choices for the benedicts.
