Very disappointing visit today to Papito's. A lot of changes happen since they have open Margarita's on Pear Orchard. My wife had a steale taco shell filled with very watery ground beef ??? Looks and taste like some kind of soup. I had the Lunch fajita beef, the beef was very tough and almost burned on the metal plate as well as the vegetables. No seasoning.The first batch of chips was great and crispy, the salsa was very blend and oily ( not usually) the second batch of the chips seems to be from last year, to say the least, and probably the same time capsule as the taco shell??? but what was the main concern was that one of the owner lady was there. She is the young lady who start the opening of Margarita's. I have the regret to let you know that you have lost us and some of my friends. Good luck read more

My hubs and I had lunch here Saturday and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The salsa and the GUACAMOLE MEXICANO were really fresh and awesome. My lunch order of shrimp fajitas were extremely wonderful. The food is out in a pretty reasonable time, the waitstaff is attentive and don't worry about needing a lot of refills because your drink cup is huge. Nothing special about the food it's like every typical Mexican restaurant. It's good and the taste doesn't change. You'll have your favorites and you'll enjoy it. I do have to say it is one of my favorites because I do know how it will taste especially if I'm having a craving and it will hit the spot! The margaritas are always tasty, and the happy hour pricing is among the best in Jackson. The food is also some of the best Mexican in the area. I've tried several dishes, and the quality is consistently good. I enjoy sitting on the patio when the weather is nice, but I've also been several times when I sat inside. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. It can be a little pricier than other places nearby, but I find that it is worth the extra few dollars for a quality meal every time. read more

Don't order a house margarita and request that it's skinny. This restaurant doesn't put drink prices on the menu. My friend and I had the worst margaritas of our lives and they were $17 each. We're not cheap, but they tasted like water and deserved no more than $10 each. It took 1 hour to get a taco salad, which we split. If you want to overpay for bad service and water-downed Tequila then you've come to the right place. Don't try speaking to the manager about it because she's rude and won't fix the issues. Food here usually is good. However, tonight it was terribly salty. This along with the very annoying group of 14 who were overly loud. More so than my old high school lunch room was back in the day. I still love Papito's after eating there countless times. The other Garcia locations are good as well! I will say that lately the servers do seem a little more unprofessional with how they carry themselves. Slower to come back and clean empty tables, etc. Most are young, if that's a valid defense. I have had a couple of servers who seem out of it and/or have problems understanding English. I love Eduardo though. Always very sweet and smiling. Never gone too long. I am a big fan of Mexican food but when you have a bad server, it makes the entire experience bad. Our waiter was in a bit of a hurry every time he came to our booth. He brought the wrong drink and when my fiancée stopped him and advised him of that fact, his face was all messed up and it seemed he had an attitude. My fiancée then said, "Can we get another server because you seem bothered"! He stated that he was just confused on the drink and that it was no problem. I hate having bad service! read more

First time! I smelled this grill earlier this morning and decided to stop in. I arrived during the lunch hours. The hostess sat me immediately and Shiva came over right away with the menu. chips, salsa, and utensils. Since I have a long drive back, I couldn't try the margaritas. Sad face... I decided to try the Speedy Gonzales with rice and a soft chicken taco. Dessert was fried ice cream. I ordered the Papitos burrito to go. My food came a lot faster than I expected and I'm grateful for that service. What I ate while dining was a great choice and cooked well. I haven't had fried ice cream since I was in Cabo back in February. That was a fantastic trip down memory lane. I enjoyed every spoon full! The restroom is painted a bright and cheery orange with black commodes. I like the above counter sinks too. Pleasant authentic Mexican music. My only dislike was the water. It tasted like tap so maybe they can get a filter or natural bottled water (other than Nestle of course). Overall, a wonderful end to a journey-filled day. Ok - So I learned that the Papito's on Lakeland drive is NOT the same restaraunt as the Papito's in Madison. I have eaten at Papito's on Lakeland dr many times. It is average at best. The salsa had no flavor, nor did the chimichangas. Its ok, this place is a franchise, the other location in Madison is owned by the original family members, we met the great grand daughter of the owner himself and wow is she such a quality representative of her family and their GREAT food. read more

I've been here previously, didn't hate it, so I went there again. This time was not so good. I'm a huge fan of fish tacos, and the ones here were a big disappointment in itself and when compared to the menu. I got 3 squished tortillas with the fish. Cheese, queso and rice was on the side. First of all, isn't queso and cheese the same thing? And who makes tacos with these 3 ingredients. I expected that the chef would prepare the tacos with some kind of lettuce and salsa. I was wrong. The manager told me the customers like ingredients on the side to make their own. Fine, I could see that, but the experience was all severely lacking. I was happy with their response as they did not charge me for the food. If you like to make your tacos like this, then these might be a great fit for you. I've much better many times. read more

I'm a huge fan of Mexican restaurants and I've rarely ever had a bad experience with them. But tonight I went in with some friends and we sat for about 30 minutes before being greeted. We ordered our drink and meal, then waited about 20 more minutes to get our drinks alone. I order a salad, and it came out completely dead. The lettuce had a moldy smell, it was brown, mushy, and soggy. The chicken was dry and flat, no seasoning whatsoever. We each only ate about two or three bites and then sat and waited another 30 minutes for our server to get our checks. We ended up having to go inside and get our server because he was no longer coming outside to check his section. I get it, I'm a server too and it's difficult to watch your section inside and outside, BUT the restaurant was near empty and we were one of three tables outside. Of the three of us, we had two checks. We gave him a card for the two who were together, and a 20 for the single check. He walks away and just stands on the other side of the patio and talks to his coworkers, so I walked over and told him we needed our receipts so we could leave. Then he goes and charges our card three different times, comes back and gives my boyfriend the 20 our friend tried to use and said that it was easier to charge the card three times rather than swipe it once for our check then use the 20 for the single check. We spoke with the managers and they offered to void it, while our server was trying to explain himself right next to them. Overall, I still love Mexican restaurants, but we will not be returning to Papito's after the service we received tonight. read more

I've had some pretty bad Mexican, but this is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. It took a long time for my server just to bring me my iced tea before my meal came out. When my meal finally arrived, the meat inside my taco was cold. Upon telling my waiter that the meat inside my taco was cold, the manager or owner came to my table and argued with me about how the taco meat wasn't cold and that I should just tell him if I didn't like it. So I proceeded to tell him how the meal in general was terribly bland and the chile poblano I ordered was mostly made up of the membrane with all of the seeds still attached and not edible. This use to be my favorite place for mexican out in the Flowood area, but I'm not so sure now. The last two visits haven't been up to par, and Sunday definitely wasn't. The restaurant was nice and clean, but the hot sauce had a just a few drops in the bottom of the bottle, the splenda packets were stuck together, the seasoning for the chips was all clogged up and our food was not great. My chicken burrito was dry and the tortilla was chewy - I actually had to use a knife on a burrito! And my beef tostada had about 4 tablespoons of beef with 3 cups of lettuce on top. read more

First visit tonight. I wasn't impressed by them seating us in the bar area. The noise from the frozen drink machines was overbearing. We found the menu to be confusing with different prices for the same items. We ordered queso dip and it came out almost cold. We sent it back and it quickly came out nice and hot. After all that, the food was a pleasant surprise. The (pork) tamales were awesome. The chicken enchilada was very tasty as well as the chicken taco, which was loaded with cheese and lettuce. I ordered the Fiesta dinner which was a great value and lots of food and a great way to try all the normal mexican foods. The chalupa was too spicy for me. Not sure why. Ate here for a late lunch with a family member. I got the "Pollo Jalisco," with chorizo added on top. The server was incredibly nice, however, when I ordered, I pointed to an item on the "lunch specialties" portion of the menu and even made sure to mention that I wanted the $8.29 lunch special. Without hesitation, she jotted down my order, then brought me a check with my order listed as $11.99 (plus a $5 charge for adding chorizo). When confronted about the issue with the unaccounted for $3.70 charge on my ticket, my waitress explained that I was 20 minutes too late to get the "lunch price." This was a bit irritating but would have been much more acceptable if not for the fact that the chicken and chorizo were both burnt beyond any recognition and filled my mouth with an almost sickening "burnt rubber" taste. Again, despite the miscommunication (or lack of communication rather), the staff was very kind. But due to the sub-par food, won't be returning. read more

HORRIBLE! DO NOT EAT THERE! It took a while for us to be waited on. Once we were, our waiter got the order wrong because he did not understand english. Even after everything was detailed out for him. He did not understand what was being spoken to him. Then we were charged twice. When I asked for the duplicate to be refunded, I was told no. That I needed to call my bank. When I told him I could bring the bank statement to show him Frank the manager said that the bank had to contact him to let him know it was a duplicate because he had given refunds before and been taken advantage of so I guess this implies that I am lying to him. When I asked for an owner and a phone number he said that there were several owners and he had no phone number. Finally after I threatened to get a lawyer and give them a bad review, he said if it perturbs you so much - being charged twice - I will refund your ticket. The manager needs to be fired and tget someone who understands customer service. The waiters need to be able to understand english. Find another mexican restaurant in Flowood. When I came back in, some people had been seated. I sat on the bench and across from me was, a single white woman,who appeared to be dining alone.A black woman who appeared to be with a gentleman who was standing and the two people that were outside by the fountain. During this time.. A waitress. young black woman with long hair came and entered into conversation with the hostess, The waitress said "I have a table for four but one of the chairs have been taken." Another hostess walked up and said "You can seat the party of two and pointed to the list." She walked away and then the waitress said to the first hostess.. "I dont want them."..The hostess saw me watching and said something at a lowered pitch.The waitress who was still unaware that I was watching .. repeated again that "she didnt want them".. Now at this point I told my husband" I want to leave here" and we did. I want to say .. I am very sure that this exchange was about my husband and me. I am not sure as to why she would not want to wait on us.Whether it was my husbands physical disability, our race, what she perceived as our tipping ability...And It really doesnt matter. Started off with raw chicken, then they gave me someone else's food once I took my plate inside because I was tired of waiting for anyone to come check on me so I could show them the raw chicken on my plate. This is by far the best Mexican restaurant around. The tortillas and chips are very fresh. The salsa is so good, you don't need to order cheese dip. It also has the best water of any Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The service was fast and good. The food is exceptionally well done.
