I ate here on a Monday night with a party of 7. Restaurant was not busy. Appetizers were good although there was much confusion on the waitress' part--she was not familiar with the menu so ordering was very difficult. Then the service went from bad to worse. We had to ask to order our entrees after 45 min had passed, had to point at the menu since the waitress had no idea what was happening, would ask for chicken and then hear the waitress say "OK, steak." It felt like a prank TV show. The food delivered to our table had a variety of issues--some wrong orders of course, most was ice-cold (cold fajitas!), and one very over-cooked dish with extra cheese when the order specifically asked for none. The tostaguac should be renamed tostaglop, btw. The owner did try to remedy things but it was too little, too late. I won't return. read more

The service me and my coworker received today was very poor. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to bring our drinks. Though the food was good, we noticed some unsanitary actions. The worker making the tortillas wore gloves, however she was touching her hair, clothes, etc. While putting the dough in the machine. The salsa was still frozen, and the cheese dip was cold and clumpy. Unacceptable. read more

Used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant, but service has gone to crap lately, food is hit or miss. Last time we went was especially bad. The waiter would disappear for 10 minutes at a time and when he'd show up he'd stay long enough to drop off what he brought but would immediately turn and leave and ignore us. I will most likely be going to another Mexican restaurant down the street from now on. read more

We came in on a Sunday evening. Not crowded at all. We were a little anxed when the hostess and another employee seemed to be getting huffy with each other in their native tongue. She sat us in a corner booth and left. We were brought salsa and chips...and then left alone...for about 10 minutes. The only reason I am giving them 1 star is because I really like their fajita taco salad. Everytime my husband and I have eaten there, the service was disappointing at best. We could barely hold thier attention while ordering or asking for refills or napkins. The last time we went, the waiter was rude and disgusting. He would scratch and rub his armpits while watching the tv on the dining room floor instead of doing his job. When a woman in our party asked for her ticket and a box early because she has to go to work, he said just a moment. He the proceeded to watch tv while scratching his pit and then he served other tables. We asked him agian for the ticket after a few minutes and he said in a moment again. We said no we need it now she had to leave. He glared at us while walking away. We told her to just leave and we would take care of it. As she got up to leave, then he decided to bring he ticket and box. We went to the hostess to pay. I told her the waiter we had was lacsidasical and rude. She was very nice and apologetic. I walked to the door and waited on my husband. I turned back toward the hostess stand and my waiter had walked up and was talking to her. I figured he was asking if we said anything negative. My husband asked her and she said he asked about his tip, which we did give him some even though we didn't think he deserved any. We were furious and asked for the manager. While we told him what had happened, he didn't seem to really care. He had no people skills at all for a manager and was not apologetic in the slightest. We will never come back to this restaurant ever. Pity the food was decent. read more

Have been back a couple of times since my first review and the food is pretty good for the price. The waiters need to move a little but quicker and be around more. Having to flag down a waiter to get something is not a good thing to have to do. But for the price the food is good. read more

I always go to the Papitos in flowood ..and I always enjoy the food but just went recently and I got my fav meal but this particular day my food was horrible my shrimp was undone and still had poop in it I told my waiter and he told the manager and she stated that they don't clean the shrimp and that's the way the shrimp come in .. omg I never notice the shrimp not being cleaned ever until that day and apparently she didn't care so I won't be going back for awhile ... read more

First let me start off and say first impressions are everything. We have been here before and it was mediocre. We ate this time and it was terrible. We sat outside and it was in terrible conditions, the seat cushions were stained and the tables were in poor shape. The salt shaker had dark brown salt in it like it had water sitting in it. The food and service were both bad. The food was poorly seasoned and the service was slow and lacking. The other employees were on cellphones and smoking outside near people eating. Have had chili verde at least 30 times at Papitos. Usually really good. Love it when it's so spicy my eyes water and my nose runs. Tonight it was so salty I could not eat it. Told the waiter and his response was like "what???" Someone needs to tell the chef to throw the dang salt shaker away. Absolutely inedible. Response from management, take 20% off the cost of the inedible chili verde. My response, take my business 100% off these asshats. Will not go back. Love chili verde, used to love THEIR chili verde. Will not pay good money for that mouth full of salt again. read more

The service was a little slow, but the food was superb. The enchiladas verdes were wonderful.

One star is generous. I ordered the veggie fajitas and a glass of red Zinfandel. The wine took about 10 minutes to get to me and was clearly a blush. I offered to pay in case it was my mistake (which they clearly took me up on) and ordered a cab. The cab took another ten minutes to arrive. The fajitas dish was described to come with guacamole but when it arrived it amounted to about 2 teaspoons worth. When I asked for more I was charged 5 dollars. The veggies were way over salted (and I like salt). I was doing some work at the table so when I was finished with my meal I cleared my dish to the side. It took the waiter another 10 minutes to clear them. Mind you it was 5:30, the place was not busy. It what became an ongoing theme, I had to pull someone other than my waiter aside and ask for my check, I put my credit card out and you got it another 10 minutes before I had to get up and walk the check to the front myself. Made a reservation for 20. Got there and was told they don't take reservations. However several people that past us checked in under a reservation. The manager was rude and told me I must have called another papito bc they don't take reservations. He insulted me. He asked me what do you want me to do, I can't ask people to leave so you can have a seat. I said what I want is for you to honor your reservation. Horrible. We called ElPortrillo and went there. At El Potrillo we received superb service and food was good too. Employee Christmas party was almost ruined but El Potrillo saved the day. Papitos-never again. read more

ive eaten here several times but it has rapidly gone down hill. the waiters are rude, the food is awful, and they brought us our cheese dip and then made us wait 5 minutes for chips i would not recommend this place to anybody but i would recommend el ranchito in madison read more

Overall, it could have been better. I wanted to like it, really I did. The chips tasted like store bought chips, and I just couldn't eat them. Margaritas were good, but our server was really stressed. Bless her...I felt bad for her. read more

Where do I start??? I so wish I could give less than one star. My party of four requested a booth to have some privacy and the hostess acted as if that wasn't possible, although several were available. Once seated we waited nearly 15 mins before our drink orders were taken and another 10 or so before chips and salsa were brought to the table. We ordered the papito's dip with our meal and ran out of chips before the dip even made it to the table. Our meal arrived before chips were brought out and we requested once again for more chips with our dip. We were able to finish our meal and we asked once more for chips to start on the Papitos Dip. She honored that final request but by the time they arrived the cheese dip was cold and hardened. I requested a refund on the dip and was told that's not possible. I explained my concern once again was basically laughed and was told I should have arose from my seat to seek the manager and request our dip to be reheated. I will never ever go back and will spread my experience with all that request my opinion. read more
