I have never dealt with customer service so terrible in my life. I came here to get a humble car wash after work. When I get to the card reader, I was unable to make my card physically go inside the machine. A line began to form behind me, with no way to call for help or leave the line. Finally, after hearing honking for a long period of time, a worker finally shows up. I asked for help getting the payment through, and he rudely said that I needed to insert my card. After seeing it wasn't working like I've BEEN SAYING, I asked if he could manually take payment inside the office. Guys. He literally tells me he COULD, but would rather see if it would work here because this "happened earlier to someone else." HE FORCED MY CARD IN THE READER AND BENT IT. When he saw it still didn't work, he went into the office for a bit, comes out and WAVED ME AWAY TO THE EXIT. How do you expect business when you are being nothing but rude and not understanding my issue, not willing to help me fix it, and kick me out for something that is clearly YOUR FAULT. I will never be coming back to this establishment, and I highly recommend you all take your business elsewhere as well. read more

I have been going to Papo's Express for years - not because they are closest to my home nor because they are the least expensive (I am on a monthly plan for $44.95 but they generally provide the best wash. Last week - including this morning - a major exception. I take an hour out of my morning (+20 minutes travel each way & then 15 minutes to dry and vacuum) to travel to the Gurnee site. Disappointingly, twice in the last week, the wash was SUB-PAR by any standard. It was well staffed (5-attendants in the bay) and they had the line moving efficiently. However, after exiting the wash to towel dry my vehicle, it was once again loaded with "dried soap" spot that made it necessary for my to wet my drying towel and spend 25 minutes rubbing out the spots on the car and rims. I don't know whether it was equipment related or product (rinsing/drying agent) but the end product was a disaster AGAIN. This would be unacceptable at any price but for $44.95/month (having recently raised the price again before the busy season), it's a rip off. I expect MUCH better from Papo's. I have attempted to reach out to Papo's before drafting an online review but no response. read more

Before I went through was I ask the attendant to make sure he gets the dead bugs off windshield. He did a swipe of the brush on the drivers side then barely touched the passengers side. Went through wash and dead bugs still on windshield. I showed the manager and he said you paid for the %500 wash and it is just water. I should have bought a more expensive wash so the chemicals would have dissolve the bugs. I go there often. Not going back. The manager should have lsent me through the carwash again. Disappointed in the wash and management response. Bought the $5 wash and went through. Came out looking like the pictures attached. Many parts of the car were good but the entire front, high and low and hood looked like it had never been washed. The pictures are right out of the wash, still on the property. The dirt was a dusting as a light drag of the finger across it and it came right off. I asked for a rewash and they said no. They said the $5 wash is barely any soap, mainly water so they wouldn't give a rewash. I emailed corporate asking for a rewash and after an initial response and me sending the video they never replied. The car wash is clean and new equipment so I'm guessing something got messed up with the computer system that my car didn't get washed but can't believe they wouldn't let me go back through as they could see it was wet and I had my receipt. read more

The car wash snapped my antenna off at the post. Almost 2 weeks late they finally got back to me with their BS story about how they looked at the footage and didn't see where the brush ripped it off. Even the 2 employees that were working said the brush did it. It cost me $70 to replace. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! My husband and I are senior citizens living on a fixed income. Not real happy about spending $14.00 to get a good car wash. I will from time to time get my vehicle washed from here where I notice something on my vehicle afterwards. Which I know it can't be perfect. My problem is the bug residue on the windshield there after paying so much. It's not like it's one bug. There is roughly 10 spots. I understand the bugs melted to the windshield with the sun beating down on them but there needs to be a solution. Not to mention the dryer doesn't really dry the vehicle off. They used to have 2 heat dryers also, which now only one. I paid $14.00 which I believe is the 2nd top wash but feel like I received the lowest paying wash performance. Maybe what might be a good business decision is to really concentrate on the bigger paying customers for little things like bugs left on the windshield. Maybe my attention to detail is more than others but the windshield is something people look out of driving away. read more

Stopped by Papo's car wash yesterday to clean my ride after a thousand mile road trip. Car was dirty and numerous dead bugs on the grill, front bumper and windshield. I'm not sure what some people expect from an automatic car wash here on Yelp. For a fully automated system, it's the best around. I have a black Silverado, so it shows every spec of dirt. This gets it 99% clean/dry and then I just give it a quick wipe in the vacuum area. The vacuums have great power and the staff has always been very helpful. read more

Free vacuums are a plus but the wash is mediocre at best, no matter what level or service you pay for. The biggest issues here are a lack of instruction from staff and the fact that your loaded so close together when its busy that you'll end up playing bumper cars with the people behind and in front of you. This is a great wash for a beat up or old car but if you actually care about your cars appearance I'd take your business to one of the other several local options. If you dont mind a scratch or dent then take your chances here. read more

I've been coming here since it opened , I generally use this place more in the winter to keep the salt off as the wash at best , is "ok" and there is much need for improvement starting with someone should be there with a sprayer to rinse the car before the wash? And the dryer Needs work, but this is not the reason for my one star review. Tonight I was there and once in the wash, I happened to turn around and see my full name displayed on your monitor. Must be taking the information from my credit card to which I didn't not consent to. With identity theft at a all time high, I feel it's reckless to display customer information In public, and I'm going to look into if in fact that i s legal. The facility is very clean, looks amazing at day or night. The car wash system does a great job of cleaning the rear end of my vehicle. The workers ask to scrub the front of my vehicle with a brush to remove any bugs if I get the $6 and up car washes. I appreciate that because sometimes I know I don't have many bugs and usually will trust the system to do it's job. Also, on slower days, or when it's not a long line, the workers will also brush my rims very well, which, if they're caked on, is awesome, because the car wash brushes don't get them as clean as a human with at least 1 good hand and 2 good eyes, lol. But honestly, what car wash will get you from road trip abused rims to factory fresh again? Overall, best car wash system in lake county if you ask me. Relatively new car wash in Round Lake Beach. Tried once after they opened and was satisfied enough to give them return business. Pulled in about a month ago and paid for a $13.00 wash, only to find the computer running the wash system was down. The manager took my receipt, signed it and the employee who gave it back to me told me whenever I come back to show the receipt, the wash was paid for already. Of course it was, I had just paid for it! Pulled in today to use the wash I paid for and was told it was over a month ago so they would not honor it. After haggling with the acting manager (the manager wasn't there) for at least 10 minutes, while the line piled up behind me, the guy finally gave me my wash after requiring I put my name and phone number on the back of the ticket. His entire point was 30 days had passed. He also tried to say he didn't know whether I used the wash some other time or not because they give such receipts back to the customers when they redeem them. Why they would do that is a mystery to me, that would be like giving someone back a dollar bill they used to buy something, but it certainly didn't apply here, since they kept my ticket. His biggest concern was 30 days had passed and somehow that meant my payment 30 days prior was no good. Needless to say, I never got the wash that I paid for until today and regardless if it was 30 days, 21 days or 1 day later, I paid for that wash in advance. It's basically the same concept as purchasing a gift card. They get 2 stars for the poor customer service. Had a very bad experience with this car wash. I went there for my very first time on 10/27/19 and I will never go there again! The driver side quarter panel was damaged during the wash. I went to numerous car wash places before and never had any thing like this happen to me. The owner claims that this happened because of a bad application of clear coat which after speaking to three body shops, they all disagree. The damage on my vehicle is not worth disputing legally so hopefully this message is read to warn others of a bad service I received going to this car wash. Don't waste your time and money and if you can wash your own car to prevent damages like these. read more

Careful with this place. I used to go there often, till a piece of trim fell of my car during the car wash process. I spoke to the owner Joe who refused to help me out in anyway stating that since the piece was found by the blower/ drying portion of the cycle it wasn't they're responsibility to fix it. First time at Papo's and I believe it's the best car wash in the nw burbs. I have tried just about every drive thru car wash in the area especially in the winter to clean the salt from under the car. This wash lets the soap soak off the dirt for a while before scrubbing and rinsing. Not inexpensive but worth it. read more

Decided to give this place a try... mistake... I'm in the middle of the car wash and it stops. I'm sitting I my car for over 5 minutes with soap on my car. I see some of the employees walk down to the exit of the car wash... still waiting. Finally an employee comes and knocks on my window and tells me to back up... he says a car a few cars ahead of me is too low to the ground to make it out of the car wash. I ask now what since my car is covered with soap? The employee tells me I can go through once they get the other car out. So... here I am trying to back out of a car wash down... then the driveway has a weird curve that I miss judge. So I'm at a weird angle. Cars are backed up in the lot... None of the employees are directing cars. Finally the get the stuck car out. Did they apologize? No. Offer a refund? No. I get to go through the car wash... but while I was waiting the soap has pooled behind the side mirrors and the other openings in the car. So when I drive off soap is spraying all over the place.
