Is this location now closed? Everytime we drop by to try it the sign says closed even when we check times

Hello we are on our annual company vacation, every year around the 4th of July we take a week off so our staff can relax with their loved ones. We’ll be back on Monday have a great weekend.

Is the gyro meat lamb, beef or a mixture or both?

I believe it is both. But, you should also know that they season and make their own gyro meat. They do not buy it from a supplier.

Took an Italian Beef to go.... Need to reheat it or go town at room temperature? I'm sure it's all preference but is it best enjoyed hot /warm?

How long did you wait to eat it? While we live 15 minutes away or so, the sandwich is double wrapped in foil, put in a paper sack, and then put in a plastic sack along with the fries. The sandwich is plenty warm/hot and ready to go when we get home,…

Are there any gluten free options?

I don't think they have gluten free entrées as such. Although they can definitely make a fresh greek salad 🥗 with their delicious gyro or other meats. Best wishes.

Is this place halal?

Yes the gyro meat is halal. Although the owner has said there is cross contamination. So you can try as per your own discretion.

Both came with a decent size feta salad and a large hummus and unlimited pita for dine in. My plate also came with taziki sauce and rice. The combo plate was huge! I could have easily shared with my husband and ask have leftovers. The meats were super tender and really flavorful. The rice was nice and fluffy, too. I will definitely be back and try more dishes. If you haven't been here, please give it a try. The customer service was enough to get back to try more dishes, but the food further convinced me.

I ordered the gyro plate for my entree which is my staple here. There are certain cravings that get under your skin and stay there for life. For me, it's Portillo's. Not just the food, though a beef sandwich, crinkle-cut fries, and a chocolate cake shake can make a grown man cry. It's the memory of a place and a time. Fox Valley Mall. Pumping quarters into Aladdin's Castle arcade. Flipping through cassette racks at Musicland. Ending the night with grease on my fingers and that smug, satisfied quiet you only get after a perfect meal. Fast forward a couple decades. I'm in Katy, Texas, chasing a burger. My pastor- yes, my pastor- drops a strange little grenade into the conversation. "Best burger in town? A gyro shop inside a gas station." I've been around. I know that some of the best food in the world is made in tiny rooms behind flickering neon beer signs, next to gas pumps, by people who give a damn. So I went. This was Pappa Gyros in its first life, jammed into a Shell station at Kingsland and the Grand Parkway. The place was chaos in the best way- line out the door, drive-through backed up, the air heavy with lamb fat, toasted bread, and that intoxicating smell of "you're about to make a very good decision." I came for the burger. I really did. Then I saw it. Italian beef. Bread soaking in rich gravy, roast beef spilling out like it couldn't be contained, loaded with hot peppers. No sweet. No mercy. One bite and I was gone- straight back to Fox Valley, cassette in hand, arcade tokens in my pocket. I've eaten at Michelin-starred temples. I've sat at tables run by James Beard winners, two in the past month. I went to Le Cordon Bleu once, thinking maybe I'd cook for a living. None of it, none, left me as happy as I was in that moment. And then there's Chris. Christos Batsios. The man cooking like someone who understands that food isn't just sustenance, it's a lifeline. It's memory and friendship and connection, all stacked between two halves of a roll. Today, Pappa Gyros has a shiny standalone on Franz Road. Still crowded, still loud, still serving food with teeth. But part of the magic, for me, will always live in that cramped little gas station kitchen on Kingsland. Chris, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I met Christos, the manager and owner of Pappa Gyros after I was contacted by them about my complaint of the food I have the first time that I was not happy at all. He explained everthing to me of what happened with my food. After I met him, he went over the extra mile to make things right. I have the gyro sandwich with French fries and they were very delicious. When I first walked in I was really shocked how clean this restaurant is. It was so clean the grill was stainless steel with no marks on it. Everything was perfect about the dining area and even the sign they had on the wall. Ok. Let me get to the food. Let me start out by saying it is 100% authentic Greek food. This gyro consist of perfect pita bread folded with seasoned to perfection, onions, a mix of spices and aromatics ( looks like coleslaw ) French fries. I'm pretty sure there is some other sides in there but I can't think of it. Everything about this gyro was perfect it melted in your mouth and the seasoning was out of this world. Christos the owner has taken a page directly out of his father's "Book of Success for Restaurants" by providing ultimate personalized attention to every guest who walks in. This place is a hidden gem! If you havent been you need to make time to get by Pappa Gyros. This is a classic Greek dinner with the Greek classic dinner plates and desserts. Of course they have the Gyros and these are traditional and melt in your mouth. You'll be very impressed with this Greek food but it dosent stop there, they have fantastic dogs, Detroit, Coney Island and a Chicago, then we move to the Italian Beef sandwich, OMG! If you've had a Italian Beef in Chicago you'll think you're back there. Then we move to his burger and fries, this man knows how to cook a burger and understands how important a good bun is! You'll find your favorites here but you'll definitely want to explore this awesome menu! BTW if you see Chris (the owner) say hey, hes one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. It's been about a year since this place opened and I've become a regular. The owners are Greek - as in from Greece - by way of Detroit so, in addition to the Greek food that I love so much when I visit Greece, they also offer many Detroit-style sandwiches. But my favorites remain the Greek food. The spanakopita is utterly exquisite - a fat little coil of pastry holding a perfect mix of spinach & feta. It's just so good! Honestly, I think it's even better than what I get in the Plaka! Also love the moussaka and the pastitsio. And when I mentioned to the owner, Christos, how much I love Stifado, he made me a vat of it to take home and share with my family! Right now, they are hampered somewhat by their location - a small kitchen inside of a gas station - but when, thanks to public demand, they move into their new, larger space, the sky will be the limit. Don't be intimidated by it being adjacent to a gas station...this is my favorite restaurant in the Greater Houston area. You must go here, especially if you are a transplant from the Detroit or Chicago metro areas. The food is delicious. You NEED to try the Italian Beef. The owner is CONSTANTLY innovating his menu. You can tell that he spends a lot of time thinking about what his customers would like. I can't think of another place in town that sells Boston Coolers (a Vernors ginger ale and ice cream float). Don't skip on the fries...they're fantastically crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. And he does an amazing job hiring and keeping fantastic staff. Pappa Gyro's was amazing! Like OMG AMAZINGGGGGGG!!!!! My co-workers and I chose this place to eat somewhere new. We were greeted immediately by the waitress who had a beautiful smile and even the owner Eric came to our table twice to greet us and make sure everything was according to his diabolical and deceitfully delicious master plan.....I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS PLACE. Papa Gyros is the epitome of a family owned and operated restaurant. The owner truly listens to his customers and has even added things to his menu that customers have inquire about. They are personable and give good ol' fashioned customer service. I routinely see other local restaurant owners eating lunch in their dining area. The owner constantly experiments with new flavors and food creations. My family loves it when they are trying out new food items because we get several delicious things to eat for free. Pappa Gyros gets 10 stars from me! Being from the city of Chicago for 48 years Pappa Gyros is the best place for me. I come here about once to twice a week. The Italian Beef sandwich are better than the ones I got back in Chicago. His hot dogs are perfect. The Gyros are outstanding. Once in a while when I order a Greek item, I just loved it. Also, the best thing is walking in and seeing the wonderful staff plus the owner Chris big smile!!! Chris is such an outstanding man. Rolling up to the place, we were a bit concerned, as it's attached to the Shell station next door. But a pleasant surprise awaited inside! They had great gyros and fries. The meat had appropriate sear on it, and the pita and veggies were quite fresh. The tzatziki sauce was mild and flavorful. Make it weekly priority to dine in at least once a week; and attempt to carry-out for the family once or twice a week!!!! And it's 25 miles from home! Hidden gem next to Shell gas station. Ordered the gyro combo with fries and a drink for $8.99. The gyro was on point. Just as good as the ones found at the other more popular place on Montrose. Also had the fried shrimp balls, which were excellent too. The owner, Mr. Robert and his guys are the stars of the place. Amazing Greek food in Katy. You must try the Gyros or the Takis plate, it's a combination of several plates in one amazing "full of Greek flavors", a must try. If you're a Chicago native/transplant, have a try of their Italian beef, it will take you back home, it's messy. Chris is the owner and an amazing chef to put all these recipes together to enjoy. Popped in for a quick bite one day and this place NEVER disappoints. I always like to treat myself to a classic gyro meal w/fries and a diet Vernors. Best combination ever. I ordered the Philly the Greek. I was expecting to get a savory flavorful sandwich. Instead I got some meat with zero flavor and when i say zero i mean zero. No salt. No pepper nothing. Who puts cheese wiz on a Philly cheese sandwich!!???? The menu says cheese. Here I am thinking it's the typical provolone.I couldn't even eat it. The onion rings were good. This is the best hole in the wall Greek restaurant in the Houston area! The food is fantastic, to the point where we ate gyros there, then got two more to go. I'm also pretty sure this is the only place outside Michigan that sells faygo. This place is well worth making the trip from anywhere to try. After we received our dinners she came to check on us, and kept an eye on us stopping by to refill our drinks and ask about the food. She was attentive but not so much it was annoying. She must have told the manager it was our first time because he stopped by our table. He was also very welcoming and offered us a dessert, which we gladly accepted. Aside from the excellent service the food was outstanding and the portions very generous. I ended up giving a bunch to my husband. Anyway, we will definitely go back.

While the kebabs aren't necessarily my favorite item on the menu, it's hard to beat a meal with one kebab and two sides for $15. I chose the pomegranate eggplant, fried cauliflower, and their "Mama Ganoush," a roasted eggplant dip similar to baba ganoush. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Each meal also comes with a warm pita bread that is served fresh from the oven. The ordering process is simple: grab a tray, move down the line, and choose from the foods on display before paying at the register. The staff are always friendly, and there's plenty of seating inside. If you're looking for fresh, authentic Mediterranean food in the Katy area, Fadi's is an easy recommendation.

I ordered the Chicken Wings over Rice (10/10). The grilled wings were expertly prepared, full of flavor and were very tender and juicy. They provided a small salad, a dipping sauce and plenty of rice. This is my go to entree here and this new location cooked it with the same great quality as their original location on Richmond. Overall, great visit and glad I have one closer to me!
