My recent visits here consisted of a Gyros Plate with rice, Hamburger with uncut tomatoes n pickles & lemon potatoes and Greek Spaghetti Meat Sauce on Sunday Special. All 3 meals were really flavorful, good quality, really well-seasoned, very juicy and so delicious. The gyros and burger are without question imo the best in TX. Ekko's and Nick The Greek are 2nd n 3rd for Greek food for me. I always got the gyros sandwich as opposed to the plate before which is odd bc I always prefer meat plates over sandwich form in other foods like bbq, steak, etc. The meat pieces were all really tasty and had some slight char to them too. The taziki sauce is always cold, creamy in feel and refreshing with a good yogurt aroma to it. It's a great bonus and the gyros didn't even need it tbh. The tomatoes were nicely refreshing and the exotic, cool center dolma is always a little treat with meals here. The rice and chunky lemon potatoes with my meals were always mild but still great in texture and prep. As I said before; from my experiences in every single Greek cafe, if the taziki sauce is good, the gyros will be too. It's a solid symptom and indicator imo. As for the burger, very rarely are burger places only in TX actually any good for the past 15 years. So many are just average or below lacking seasoning or a great overall flavor. Niko Niko's, Goode Company Hamburgers and TX Hamburger Palace are my top 3 in that order for it. Each different too. The brioche buns were just the right thickness and very soft to make the beef patty stick out well. The patty was so nice in charbroiled taste, saltiness, richness, beefiness and tender in every bite. A good burger doesn't need much in toppings, but cool, refreshing, tomatoes are a must for me and pickles add some tangy crunch too. For steak rare, but for a burger medium to medium rare. I had never seen or heard of their Greek Spaghetti n Meat Sauce before. This was like a Greek Bolognese with a lot of love in its flavor. The noodles were drained, very moist and so soft. I don't like too much cheese, so I took some off, but still like some. The meat sauce gravy itself was really flavorful, savory, fatty enough and had that subtle sweet, warm spice aroma you get in the Greek lasagna. I like to get dessert here sometimes when I have extra room, bc they have some great options like their galaktobourreko, chocolate ganache cake, etc. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient on these visits. read more

Niko Niko's is a casual Greek restaurant that gives a family-friendly vibe. Their menu is overwhelming, and they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with their own parking lot. We got the gyro sandwich, gyro plate with fries, and mille feuille dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my gyro sandwich. The pita was very fragrant, and the meat was good. The fries were fine. They have a lot of desserts on display, and we got the mille feuille, which was a super flaky cake-appearing pastry that gave more baklava vibes once we dug into it. The friendly employee told us that he gained a significant amount of weight from eating it. It was very dry and crusty with cold cream interspersed within the layers. It crumbled all over the table (we cleaned it up). It seemed like a unique dessert that was nice to try, but I don't think either of us liked it that much, and we didn't end up finishing it. I love to eat here every time I come to Houston. My daughter knows this and happily accommodates my love of their Greek food. My daughter is 25% Greek and she also loves the roast potatoes, the pastitsio, the Greek salad. The place is always busy because it is awesome. There is adequate on-site free parking. The ambiance is basic, but everyone is happy because the food is awesome! The counter service is efficient. Niko Niko's on Montrose was the closest restaurant to the bar, where I was at in the Gayborhood. It was a rainy evening and I didn't want to risk of eating at food trucks and get stuck on the way back. This time I was with a friend. We both ordered gyros combo plates. I was surprised the portion size and affordability. I also ordered a Kataifi and he got a key lime gelato. I couldn't eat the dessert because I was already full. I had leftover for next day. I had had catered Niko Niko's before but had never dined in. I am so happy I did! We sat in a booth and ordered. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The interior was well designed, with plenty of seating, if a little clustered. I ordered the burger with fries and the hazelnut chocolate cake. One thing is that my burger did take 40 minutes to come and I did have to go and remind the staff, but it was then served fresh within a couple of minutes. But the quality was out of this world! The meat was succulent and was commented by the melted cheese and mayo. The fries were countless and so tasty. The hazelnut chocolate cake was another just another gift. The cake was somehow both light and substantial. The frosting was perfectly flavored and a joy to eat. The pistachio chocolate cake was the same way. A great dining experience! read more

Asked if I could sit outside with my dog. They said no. Not sure why? If it's because of sanitary reasons, I promise a dog sitting at the base of a table OUTSIDE while their owner eats is the least of people's concerns considering they are sitting OUTSIDE where there are plenty of bugs flying around and crawling up tables, not to mention the patio is so close to Montrose that cars kick up dust and all sorts of other things into the air. I had not been in a while, but TikTok never fails to remind me of all the good spots in the city, so I knew I had to come back. The food, though pricy as are the desserts, is delicious. The potato wedges with butter and seasoning are fantastic. Never had anything bad there. Two things I'm disappointed in. One is, they got rid of the root beer. Maybe it wasn't a big seller but I loved it. We were from out of town so we were excited tourists. Some of the locals have not given this place as high of a rating but we thought it was great. The atmosphere is nothing fancy and there is plenty of parking. There is content service but the service was prompt. Today it was the spanakopita and the tiropita, closely followed by the dolmas. It's SOOO much food that I can taste a little of everything, choose what hits-eat that, and then have enough leftover for another meal or two! And let's not forget dessert! We finally made our way over to Niko Niko's in hopes of having a delicious Greek dinner. We got there around 7:15, which seemed to be the dinner rush time, because all seats were full and there was a long line to the register. They have a lot of indoor seating, but thankfully they have plenty of patio seating. Inside, it's quite loud and chaotic, but clean and inviting. The woman taking our order was friendly and patient despite all of the hard work going on behind her in the kitchen. We ordered the gyro chicken combo plate, the falafel plate, and a small order of spanakopita (sp?). It took a whopping 45 minutes to get our food, which was disappointing, but I attributed it to the dinner rush and the fresh, made to order, approach that they seem to take??? *shrug* anyway, the falafel were great - not dry. Oven fries were alright - nothing too noteable about them. The chicken and gyro plate was really good, but the rice was bland - didn't really taste like anything. The gyro meat was juicy but the chicken was somewhat bland. Overall, I would say if you get Niko Niko's - order it to go. The food was generally quite good, but argueably a bit overpriced. However, I believe the prices are high due to the quantity of food you are given. So, if you're more about quantity than flavor - this is your Greek spot. I think if they had a bit of a smaller portion with more flavor and some fresh vegetables (tomato and cucumber) to go along with the proteins and carbs, it would be a better approach. read more
