They were referred to me by another Yelper that had visited recently. I pass this place all the time as it sits back off the street in a Shell gas station right off of Hwy 99. In fact I passed in front of it this weekend and never even paid attention. First, the parking is scare as there aren't many designated parking spaces. After eating here, I would park next door or even across the street to eat here! The interior is on the small size with about 4 tables and chairs and a counter with a couple of bar stools. But what they lack in size, they make up for it in great customer service and great food. I wont go into detail about their menu it is pretty diverse. Not only do they serve Greek style food but there also have burgers and hot dogs both Chicago and Detroit style. I can't believe I never heard about this place as it has been open a few years now. It is rated at 5 stars with over 200 reviews on Yelp! After eating there I see why. They will become a permanent spot on my bookmarks. read more

I ordered at the drive thru a falafel gyro with fries. The pita bread was soft, and the gyro was saucy with tons of veggies. It would've been perfect however the falafel was awful. By the time I got home, 10 minutes from Pappa Gyros my falafel was rock hard and no longer edible. The falafel may have been reheated in the microwave for it to get that hard in such a short time. I had to take out all the falafel and put my fries instead. read more

Awesome food. As everyone says, this is a small place with a drivethru. Note that PG is NOT fast food, which is probably a good thing. Expect fresh and plentiful food. We had to wait in the drive thru line about 10 minutes with two cars in front of us. A kid came out at one point to take our order, since it looked like the order speaker took a beating and didn't appear to be working. I ordered only a gyro, and when I returned home I noticed how much meat was packed into the pita bread. I think it threw-off my calorie counter app, but I did only eat half of it that night. Awesome gyro! My wife doesn't want to eat lamb, so will probably order her a chicken sandwich next time. I only live a few minutes from this location. We have been a little cautious to visit since the last business didn't do too well. Yelp has it right and I do not think PG will have the same problems. read more

Order taker came to car, properly masked, and took my order. At the window, cashier asked how to properly pronounced my name and we just chatted a bit. Christos (the owner) was outside and he chatted a bit. 2). A lot of shrimp, medium in size but perfectly cooked and easily twice as much as most places. 3). Bread isn't New Orleans but a tasty roll, and crunchy exterior. 4). Lettuce and tomato were fresh. They chiffoned the lettuce, I would have preferred a thicker cut and the tomatoes were sliced thickly. The sauce tasted like a mix of ketchup, mayo and sriracha. Extremely messy to eat. It brought the heat, but in a good way. 5). Value - costs $8.99 6). I am a new customer to this Chicago Style Gem! Hard to believe this is in Houston, and not Chicago. Truly Great Food! Wish I had a location closer to me, because I could eat there 3x a week! Chicago Hot Beef is as good as any you would find in Chicago. Aus Jour is so good you can drink it like a soup if you like. Hot Beef is flavored perfectly with lots of pepper. The Gyros are also very good, but it is hard to not order the Chicago Hot Beef sandwich eat time. Portions are a little on the large side, which I tend to be a fan of. Only negative so far is that they could add more peppers and giardiniera to the sandwich. Detroit Style Coneys are next on the list to try! First timer! Definitely lives up to the hype. I got the original gyros sandwich with fries and also the chipotle chicken sandwich. I actually ordered a side of fries for $2.99 because I didn't feel like a drink but you're better off getting the combo addition with fries and a drink for $2.79. The sweet lady at the drive thru gave me a drink anyway. Hey I'm all about customer service in addition to to food and Pappa Gyros deserves 5/5 stars for both. I am NOT a BRO helping a BRO...saw an episode of Texas bucket list of eateries featuring this place and since we were in the area, thought we'd check it out. Food was great. I had the Philly The Greek, which was tasty! And FILLING. My wife had the loaded fries, which she enjoyed. Fries were not soggy. Lots of onions, tomato, feta, and creamy tzatziki sauce, along with chicken. And quite a large serving! Very extensive menu so if you aren't sold on GREEK food it's ok...you can grab a burger or hot dog or other things for that matter. Employees were VERY pleasant and helpful. They were constantly cleaning the counter, doors, windows, etc. and stopped to check on us a few times. We will DEFINITELY be back! This place is worthy of frequent flyer status! read more

No one was in there except one other man but it was mid-late afternoon so not surprising. We ordered our gyros husband asked if they had bottled water no only tap. Ok I'll have lemonade then said what sides are there looked at the menu... chips I'll have chips he said. Sorry we're out of chips. We are out of a lot of things right now. Ok... hesitantly I ordered the chicken gyro and it was a ton of dill dressing with onions and chicken that's it! the pita was good but that's it. Husband tot something else he liked it. I ordered a soda went to get it they were out of diet soda. Asked the girl that brought our sandwiches where can I get some napkins she kindly said they are over there and pointed to where the drinks were and thoughtlessly walked away. Decided now to give this place a try with Uber eats... and still to my astonishment... it's worse... missing items from each menu ordered... does not match the description. Example gyro plate did not come with fries....Then the Taki combo plate is missing dolmas/ stuffed grape leaves... Greek potatoes and kebab was both chicken.... Please look at the images attached... second chance and idk if I'll ever go back here for Greek/Mediterranean food ever again. Best gyro my wife and I had in greater Houston area. The chicken and pork skewers were well seasoned and tender. The ingredients of the eggplant/ground beef lasagna were perfectly balanced. Salad was fresh and rice was moist. The cinnamon bun looking desert was sinful, my wife ate the whole thing without sharing it with me. Counter service was friendly and helpful. We ordered online - super easy. Then drove over and waited in the line pictured - don't do what I did... park your car. Put on your mask and pick up INSIDE. Duh! as a thanks for my patience in the line - I treated myself to the baklava... may or may not have eaten on the way home and disposed of the evidence before the family knew about it. Super friendly and always quick service. Today the drive thru line was longer than usually and the owner was out there taking orders to make the wait shorter. I wrote this review in 2017 or 2018 and just updated its grammar moments ago on 30 November 2022: The proprietor of this tiny little restaurant is a large, mustached man named Chris and he is genuinely friendly. Today, for example, I went in for the second time and sat down at the counter, and this time I was wearing my Detroit Red Wings hat. Chris immediately brought me into a hockey conversation he was having with another patron at the counter. I appreciated that. I ordered the same thing this time that I ordered the first time; lamb gyro with fried mushrooms and a diet Pepsi. Both times the food was served fast and piping hot. And the food's taste is especially good. I grew up in the Toledo, OH area, where there are relatively many Greek restaurants, and I think Pappa Gyros has the best lamb gyro I've ever had. And finally, the food is reasonably priced. The only drawback of this restaurant is its limited seating due to being so small. Given how popular this restaurant has become, Chris will hopefully be able to afford moving to a larger location soon. So, to summarize, Pappa Gyros is run by remarkably friendly employees, the food is exceptionally good, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend that you drop by and try it. Given the limited seating, you might want to consider arriving outside of peak hours or ordering takeout. Papa gyro's is once again unequaled in lunchtime delight. Reuben sandwich and potato salad for Shirley. I had a fried chicken lunch-two kegs and a thigh, potato salad and a Greek salad. Chris as always treats his customers like royalty. The Reuben was the most tender and flavorful we have tasted in years. The chicken was hot, crispy, tender and full of flavor. Easily the best gyro I've ever had, the meatballs are next level, the Detroit chili is a killer, and the pastries are can't miss. My absolute favorite is the Philly the Greek gyro, followed closely by the Beef and Sausage Combo dipped of course. While the food is first rate, the service is what really puts the place over the top, both from the super friendly staff and Chris, the owner, who welcomes every diner like a friend into his own home. Delicious authentic Greek food served with Greek hospitality! The new location offers much more space for customers to dine and there is a self service soda fountain. I ordered the Taki's combo plate, which is a great way to try a lot of the most popular items on the menu. The food was hot and flavorful and the pita bread is the best I've ever eaten. The original gyro is a must try item! And I know the french fries aren't Greek, but they're still awesome. All of the food is cooked to order, so it always comes out fresh. Pro tip: if you like peppers, and you want to add some spice to your gyro, order the giardiniera (if you don't want to try to pronounce it, just say hot peppers...they'll know what you mean).
