My customer and I enjoyed our lunch at noon today and was shocked how empty the restaurant was at peak lunch time! I remember when the line to order backed up to the entrance. We really enjoyed our lunch, but the cost of bbq has skyrocketed!! Probably explains why people are not eating out as much. Anyway, my pulled pork sandwich and fries were tasty! My customer loved his chopped beef potato too. Our only complaint is y'all don't have have a large warm container of your bbq sauce in the condiment section any longer. Just bottles of cold bbq sauce selections. That was soooo disappointing as we both used the bottle on my sandwich and his chopped potato. Ordered 1/2 chicken plate and 1/2 chicken was undercooked. The manager on duty, Ingrid, was quick to point out I had eaten 1/2 of the food. I responded that was the 1/2 cooked right. Showing her the very pink thigh meat that had a bloody vein was not enough to get her to make this right. I asked for the general manager and she said he is on retreat. I asked for his name so I can call and ask to speak to him later and she flat out REFUSED to provide me with that information. I asked for the owner's name and she said she could not give me that information. She also told the worker next to her to be quiet as that worker was trying to explain what might have happened to the chicken. I made sure to tell her that I was very disappointed in the way she was (not) handling the situation. I was giving her an opportunity to rectify this and she did nothing. I often pick up breakfast for my customers. Pappas had 9 tacos out in just a few minutes and added a nice touch that I have never had another restaurant do for me in a drive thru: they gave me my sugar and cream along with a spoon in a small tray. Any of the Pappas BBQ are great but happy this one in The Woodlands is open. The meats are the best in my opinion as I love a good sliced beef sandwich with some delicious potatoe salad and a tea to wash it down lol! The fries are delicious and brisket or chorizo breakfast tacos are great (served only on weekdays) the portions can be inconsistent though so when you pay $6 for a brisket breakfast taco and $12 for a brisket sandwich and it's a bit skimpy it can give you buyers remorse for paying so much! But the morning/afternoon drive thru service ladies are the best!!! Love their smiling faces and making me feel special (or maybe I go there too much! First time here. We ordered Beef trio and rib combo plates with sides: potato salad, coleslaw, fries and green beans. We enjoyed the baby back ribs, fries, potato salad and the Mustard BBQ sauce. The green beans were weak and Coleslaw wasn't remarkable. The brisket was dry, but flavorful. Next time we'll ask for moist brisket. Beef ribs weren't that great and the st. In the Houston area and with a Pappas Restaurant Gift Card in hand so we made the stop to try out the Pappas BBQ. Upon arrival during the late lunch hour the place wasn't too packed we made our entrance and we were on our way to take our order. Compared to any other Pappas restaurants I've been to in the past, you simply place your order up front and pay then your plate is brought to your table. The employees were very friendly and informative so yay for service! Now for the food, the brisket was flavorful went well with the BBQ sauce, the beef ribs were delicious full of Smokey flavor and smoked sausage was juicy spicy and hint of cheese, the fries are amazing however the Mac and cheese was a bit cool where my star fell off. The carrot cake is moist full of that carrot cake flavor! Overall great service and great BBQ prices aren't too bad for a BBQ place that being a Pappas chain. Until next time! read more

I absolutely love Pappas as I've been there many many times, it's almost funny reading some of the comments because if people aren't complaining about staff they're just admitting they don't like Barbecue. All the food I've had comes out almost perfectly and if it's not sauced to my liking I can just add more sauce or whatever I need, and whenever I'm sitting down to eat I feel so comfortable and welcome. The employees ask questions but don't wait or listen for response, too impatient with customers inline. We couldn't enjoy the open display of BBQ fixings of onions, pickles and peppers, etc because of the large number Flies and Gnats, also the 20 BBQ sauce bottle tops were clogged and dirty. We were in town for a soccer tournament over thanksgiving. We needed a place that could feed our team and parents (60 people total) a full thanksgiving dinner. Pappas BBQ to the rescue! I worked with Tabitha for over a month. When the day came, they had 6 boxes of food ready for us to pickup at 5:30pm on thanksgiving! The entire team was amazing and helpful especially when our game / pickup time kept changing. We got the food, kept it warm and got to eat as a team at 7:30. The hot food was hot and the cold food (desserts) were cold. The food was amazing! The turkey was moist and delicious and the ham was juicy and flavorful. The sides were perfect too as well as the roles. Also we easily had enough food for our 60 and still had plenty of leftovers. Everyone loved the quality and the taste of the food. The young man at the register was nice however everyone around him seem to have a bad attitude and didn't want to be there. Why work there if you upset about being there. Any restaurant that serves raw chicken gets low review from me! They have quality control issue that they need to work on. We have eaten here many times, usually ordering to-go, because Pappas has a fast window service. The week before Thanksgiving holiday , we decided to dine in during lunch, so that we could also order their Thanksgiving smoked turkey and sides package. We could already tell they were having staff issue. It wasn't very crowded but there was not a good flow from ordering to paying. The staff looked stressed, unhappy and not too responsive. This usually indicated management & staff issue, or staff just not trained or paid well, and it showed. For lunch I ordered the roasted chicken. After taking a couple of bites through the leg/ thigh, I saw pink meat and pink juice. In disbelief, I asked my dining companion if they think it's raw. We said well if it's smoked meat, maybe some pink is acceptable. I dug deeper, more pink and the texture was definitely rubber raw! I took it back to the counter and asked the gentleman if he could exchange another piece of chicken. He replied, "They all are cooked to temperature, they all going to be like that." So I pointed to him how raw the chicken was and he just shrugged and said if I have any issue I could talk to the manager. Luckily the lady coworker next to him offered to substitute with another meat, so I chose brisket. And they gave me the fattiest, greasiest cut. Oh me oh my... where do I start? This experience was a doozy. I take my boyfriend lunch a couple times a week. He works nights and his lunch time is at 9:30p. So, I decided to place an order online and have it ready for pick up at 8:45p. That would give me time to pick it up and make it to his work on time because he only gets 30 minutes. I arrive a little early so I go ahead and park in one of the curbside pickup spots. I sit there till about 8:50p. Getting worried or thinking that maybe I was supposed to call to let them know that I was there. I give them a call to let them know that I was there waiting on my order. My boyfriends work is about 30 minutes from there and I didn't want to be late. When the person answered the phone I told her that I was out at the curbside pickup waiting. She informed me that curbside pickup was closed. I had no idea, but she acted like I had just disturbed her and how dare me not know. She said that I had to go thru the drive thru. When I get my turn at the speaker I let the person know that I was there to pick up my order. She RUDELY said... DRIVE THRU! When I get to the window I ask her if our drinks had been sitting there since I was supposed to receive my order and if they were could she please remake them because I didn't want watered down drinks. She again was rude and said, they are NOT watered down. Then just handed them to me. I almost dropped one because when she handed it to me I didn't have a good grip and it almost slipped thru my fingers. After handing me my drinks she shoved my to go bag out the window then just closed the drive thru window without saying a word. I waved at her and she opened the window back up... and I said, you're welcome. She slammed the window closed that time. I was shocked at how rude she was. But I've ordered from them a few times and the food has always been really good, so I was just going to let it go. Fast forward to getting to my boyfriends work, which I made it to ontime despite the mix up. I'm taking the food out of the bags and something doesn't smell right. I put the straw in my sweet tea, and OH MY GAWD, it was awful. It was like it had been sitting for days. And my boyfriends coke was very watered down. Second disappointment. I ordered him a chopped beef sandwich and I got a 3 meat with ribs, brisket and sausage. I took a bite of the brisket first. It was ok, it needed sauce. And I'm a bit of a BBQ snob, so I feel like you shouldn't have to sauce the meat. But their BBQ sauce isn't that bad and I understand that sometimes brisket can get dry, so I was actually ok with that. Not great, but edible. Next up was the ribs. One of my favorite things, and in the past, I've actually liked their ribs. I took one bite and it was awful. It was so bad that I actually couldn't even swallow it and ended up spitting it out. I don't know what was wrong with it, but it was almost like they had it sitting out for days. At that point I was afraid to taste the sausage. But being that I was hungry and wanted something to eat, I picked up a piece of sausage. Nope! That was a bad idea. It was just as awful as the rib was. I don't know if they were just having a bad day, but with the awful attitude of the staff and the awful, I dont see any reason to return, especially after paying over $60 for food that I couldn't even eat. Whoever cooked the chicken or seasoned it at this location needs to keep making it and you need to share your secret with the other locations. I am SHOCKED that Pappas has a 2.5 star review with Yelp - this is NOT a fair star rating. I eat out a lot at many different places and Pappas BBQ has by far the BEST tasting chicken.
