This is a review of new item Smoked lamb pitas. Tried for the first time today and it's thumbs down! Meat dried out and harissa overwhelms everything. Zero taste of lamb! Could have been beef or pork. I genuinely like True Texas bbq but this item very disappointing. read more

Surprisingly good. The sliced brisket sandwich was pretty good as was the potato salad and tea. Price was a tad high but isn't everything these days. I'll give them another try and see if everything else is as good. Service was fast and friendly. Never had a bad meal here. It's as good if not better than most Texas bbq spots I've been to. read more

Try it, you won't be disappointed. Parking: HEB large lot, except like any grocery store to walk a bit. Food: so all the traditional offerings are here beef chicken, but there is a super fun dinosaur rib that is massive and was super cool. I am not a huge barbecue person, so unfortunately, i'm gonna have to have my Texan card revoked BUT I overall enjoyed the experience and I would absolutely take people here again. Price: price is pretty traditional for most barbecue places. I wouldn't say it's any higher or lower. Ambience: okay, let's take into account.The fact that this is absolutely a grocery store. This is not going to have any special flair. BUT I will say it is a hundred percent the correct experience to try out and take out of town guests. read more

Not that great of an experience here. I tried the brisket chili, sausage sandwich and a drink. Chili - served nearly room temperature, I was expecting it to be a lot warmer. Uses shredded brisket. Overall flavor is pretty good though with the help of sour cream, shredded cheese and green onion. I liked it better than the sandwich. Sausage sandwich - links are sliced and peppery. Tastes like a cross between hill country sausage and links you can get straight off the grocery store shelves. This is obviously not homemade. Overall, it's my 2nd time to try True Texas BBQ and I'm not convinced that it is even worth my money. The prices are fair, but I expect just a little more from them. read more

The food is always tasty, generous portions, and reasonably priced, especially compared to other bbq restaurants. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Today I tried the Brisket Birria Ramen which was absolutely delicious. However, very spicy and served very hot as ramen is meant to be served. The flavors are paired well and I'd consider this to be the tastiest ramen I've ever had. I suggest mixing it well, then lifting up portions to cool down the heat. If it's too spicy, try adding sour cream or plain yogurt. This will mellow out the spice so that enjoying this meal won't be missed. If you have allergies, this will definitely help clear them up. Perhaps the servers shall recommend a side of sour cream to obtain repeat business. read more

Barbecue is average, portions (I got the two meat plate) are tiny and the prices are ridiculous. Plenty of other barbecue places around with better food, bigger portions and way less expensive... I won't be back. read more

My wife and I wanted some baked potatoes tonight. I went to True Texas BBQ and specifically asked for moist sliced brisket I asked about 3 times to make sure. I even went back to the cashier to ensure it would be moist. Well we got dry burned ends of the brisket. I paid extra for extra for 1/4 lb more moist meat and got more dry meat. I spent $33.40 and it was horrible. My wife couldn't even eat hers. Never again. Look at the picture. That's with sauce on it. read more

We come to this area about once a month and try different restaurants each time. True Texas BBQ was a winner!! It's super convenient being part of HEB if you need to do some shopping afterwards. We got the El Jefe sandwich, a turkey breast sandwich, one sausage link, potato salad, collard greens, and mac & cheese. All of it was great and flavorful. The sausage was a little tough on the outside though. The turkey was moist and the brisket was tender. I was surprised by the solid flavor of the collard greens. The potato salad was nice as well. I loved the mac & cheese though. Super cheesy just how I like it. No dry noodles here. It reminded me of Luby's Mac & cheese that I always got when I was little. The service was great with friendly staff and the food came out quickly. A good amount of seating and a large variety of bottled beverages are available. There's also vacuum sealed True Texas meats and dessert available for purchase in the ready meals section of HEB if you want to take some home to eat at a later date. Never had a bad meal here. Until today. I ordered a two meat plate( burnt ends and brisket) with sides. I didn't open until I got home. I get in this day of inflation portions are going to be downsized. I received 3 pcs of burnt ends, which were good, and what was supposed to be brisket that looked like chopped beef. Not enough pieces of meat to equal a slice. It looked like the left over scraps on the cutting board after slicing the brisket. at $22 a pop and not much food either, it's a little off putting. read more

The BBQ was decent but not worth the price. It's a food stall inside HEB, not a standalone business. Being inside HEB, I would have thought the pricing would have been at least reasonable or relatively low similarly to their Flo pizza (which is cheap and excellent), but the prices were some of the highest I've paid for BBQ in Texas and the quality certainly didn't match the premium price. read more

Always steady when it comes to BBQ in a pinch. Don't let it being in the grocery store fool you. They do have great BBQ and sides. Sweet tea is in point and the staff is always pleasant to deal with. Moist brisket and Turkey is always our good to. read more

When I called to see if they were open due to it being a holiday, I appreciate the lady asking me to hold on with kindness because she had to find a pen. I told her I was just in need of knowing if they were open. She told me they were with pep in her voice. When I arrived, the service was warm and kind. Food is great...if you can get it. Service is not good at all. Ordered food through the app. Drove up and parked at pickup sign for them to bring food out. Called 20 minutes later and they said they didn't know I was waiting even though I got SMS confirmations. (They hadn't started on my order yet.) Then they tell me they don't have green beans, of which I already ordered and paid. Asked to sub out. No big deal I guess? They bring the food out 10 minutes later without my drink of course. I decide I will go in and get my drink and figured I better do a quality check. Of course they didn't give me bread or sauce of which I specifically requested. When I get home, I realize my half pound brisket is 3 slices...most likely a quarter pound. The person working never took responsibility or apologized for anything. Maybe I have too high of standards even though my dinner was $25? I didn't think so either. Overall this was a horrible experience and will not be back. read more

I did not sample all of the sides as I was concerned there wouldn't be enough for guests, but the meats were delicious. ALL of them.
