Sigh. So I saw Farrah gave this place 4 stars and I thought well maybe it's ok since I've passed by many times but never went in. However that review was13 years ago. And the awards on their wall were all from days gone by. Enter 2026. 7 years since their last award. And I was not impressed. I was going to get their prime brisket burger until I discovered it's actually just a burger and not sliced brisket. I asked what smashed meant and the cashier said she thinks they smash the whole burger and I asked is that the bun too and she said she didn't know. So I Decided to get their pulled pork sandwich because I figured that was pretty standard and safe and it'd be hard to mess up. I asked which side I could get since it comes with a side and she said any. I chose onion rings. Well apparently there's an undisclosed upcharge for that one. There's also an undisclosed upcharge for credit cards. A real pet peeve of mine. I decided on the fried okra instead. And it, like the sandwich, was flavorless. Kinda reminded me of Covid. Just chewing cardboard. Dry and tasteless. The sauce really didn't help. I do like the decor inside. Very western. They even got a jackalope head mounted. But unfortunately it's not sufficient to make me ever want to return. read more

I purchased the Family Pack #2 on July 3, 2026, which is supposed to feed 5-7 people. When I got home, I only had 3 sides not 4, the brisket was floating in grease and if that was 1 lb. of brisket I'll eat my hat. Tasted terrible. The sausage looked like it wasn't cooked. Went back to restaurant to obtain the other side and ask why I only received a half loaf of bread, which was already opened. This family pack would not feed 3-4 people much less 5-7. The pints of sides were small, the other side, corn on the cob, we were only given 4 pieces. The service girl was nice but offered no apology upon return. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so everything should have been checked. Will not be returning or recommending. Certainly not worth the money they charged. read more

While looking for a lunch spot while in the area, I opted for this bbq restaurant that I had bookmarked some time ago. Pit Master BBQ is located in a large shopping center in the center of the complex and has plenty of parking spaces available. Inside its nicely decorated in a country/western bbq theme and offers table service with two indoor dining sections and a covered outdoor space too. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken plate for $13 that comes with two side dishes and went with the beans and potato salad. A slice of Texas Toast is included. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes. The 1/2 chicken was juicy, smokey and flavorful and I was pleased with this bird taste wise and size wise. The beans had a nice savory flavor to them and I wanted more. Finally the mayo based potato salad was cool and creamy with a smooth tasting flavor. The table service was friendly and attentive and I enjoyed the background music too. For some reason when I walked in I expected a 3 level meal which is common for many BBQ restaurants in Houston but this meal was better and deserves a 4. Serving portions were large, the food tasted very good and the cost represented a lot of value. I would be happy to return to Pit Master BBQ. read more

Decent BBQ but nothing distinctive. I had a two meat plate with brisket (asked for moist) and sausage. Did like that the meat came lightly sauced with more sauce at your discretion but the meat while high quality, really didn't strike me as moist. The sausage was good but unsauced. Worse beef brisket I've had in Texas. We tried it for lunch today. Two of us ordered the sliced brisket sandwiches. Normally sliced is a little fatty and juicy, but not this. Super dry. And for $15 for a sandwich I'd like to see a decent sized bun, but not here. Small but with maybe 5 tiny slices. I usually do Gessners but it was raining and I wanted to sit inside. Big mistake. I picked up lunch here today. The customer service was awesome. The food wasn't bad , but it also wasn't good. I had a sliced brisket sandwich. The brisket was more on the lean end and I wish I would have had a mixture of lean and fatty. I'll say that's my fault because I didn't ask for it. The buns on this sandwich were toasted to perfection. The brisket however was bland and lacked both the smoked flavor and seasoning. It was tender. I had potato salad as my side. Was looking for a good bbq place following a long and frustrating drive to/from League City on that miserable highway, I-45. Tried to get to a couple of restaurants in Houston; however the crowds and lack of parking dissuaded. Googled and found Pitmaster BBQ off Sawdust Rd, just west of I-45. The place is smack-dab in the middle of a large strip mall, just east of Budde Rd. Walked in around 7:15 PM, the restaurant closes at 8:00 PM; hardly anyone around at the time. We're greeted warmly by Cassidy at the front door - sat in the covered patio area, very pleasant on a typical Oct evening. Cassidy was extremely friendly and attentive - ordered the sausage/brisket/ribs combo platter for $22, together with Fried Okra and Baked Beans as sides. In addition, ordered Jalapeño poppers and Onion Rings as appetizers. Food arrived very quickly, and was it delicious! The meats were well-smoked and fall-off-bone tender, the spicy sausage was perfectly cooked. Sides were not at all greasy - very tasty. Texas toast accompanied the platter. Rounded off the fine meal with Blueberry Cobbler and Pecan Pie to go. Nice touch that the owner came and checked on us, in addition to Cassidy's excellent attention. The meal was plentiful and cost $69 for two, including 20% tip. Overall, very satisfying - recommend this hidden gem if you like a quiet, well-attended to experience. read more

The food's good. It's not great. Frankly, my barbecue is better - and I'm no ace at all. But, you get a good meal, great service, at a decent price. I had the Pit Master Plate. The brisket I had was really nothing special at all, the ribs were ok, they were cooked really well - a nice solid bite, and the sausage was quite excellent. My wife's chicken was also "ok". Nothing stellar and a bit dry. Mom got the loaded baked potato, which is a meal for a triathlete! THAT was damned good, as was Dad's hamburger. We originally were going to go to corkscrew but they were so busy, our tight weekend schedule permitted something else. We saw this place from the road, and we are SO happy we stopped at Pit-Master!! We miss genuine BBQ from Missouri and the St. Louis ribs were cooked to perfection, in between fall off the bone and perfectly tender with a great rub. The brisket and sausage were also cooked well, full of flavor! The green beans side are to die for, along with the corn on the cob. Everything was quality including the service! Ambiance is homey, with older and modern country music. Getting to meet the owner, Tommy, was the best treat! I'd rather spend my money here than chains or other mainstream establishments. When we visit the area in the future, we will definitely be coming back here to satisfy our hunger and need for some good BBQ! We'll also recommend it to our TX friends. As mother would say "Meh, iz ok". I must have caught them on an off day from the service aspect to the food. Now don't get me wrong, my Pit Master plate for $14.99 looked very appetizing until I dug in and THEN is when I found out why the others did not rate it so high. The attitude of the staff was upbeat but it stopped about righhhhhhht there. Maybe it was because I was alone and they figured that the tip might not have been worth anything but being in the service industry for a total of 17 years I would not have mind tipping $5 on a $18 meal if I didn't have to get up to beg for my water glass to be filled and then notice the waitress finally making her first and only visit 7 minutes after i sat down. I did notice they were very cordial to what seemed like regulars coming in so they have that going for them. I've been ruined....ruined since my first taste of Corkscrew BBQ, damn you and your long weekend lines and high price to justify the goodness of the product. Back to the subject, before this being a person ok with the bbq of let's say a Luther's bbq house it might have been a better review but please remember that now I am spoiled. There did not seem to be that smokey aroma that hits you in the face when you walk in and as far as the meats I did not see any penetrating smoke rings to it but I can say all of the meat was very tender. Not too much a fan of the brisket here since it did not have that nearly flakey fall off the cut of the fork behavior but instead a little....."tight". The sausage was ok, you get your choice of spicy or non, please add bbq sauce. The rib meat fell off of the bone and was decent but still, add bbq sauce. The bbq sauce is right next to you sitting in a bottle, not too appetizing, I'd rather be scooping it from a ladle from a hot pot but each to their own. The potato salad looked vibrantly delicious but was a little too much on the sweet side for me, yes, if you are very careful you will note that there seems to be that sugary over tone. Call me a liar and tell me that they do not use that ingredient in it but you'll see what I mean. The texture was great though. The cole slaw was decent. It wasn't dry and was very consistent in the slither of the cabbage and had a fairy good taste as well. The water did not have an off tone taste, yay. There is a patio outside you can eat your meal let's save the imagination to about 10 tables give or take. Will I drive here with my kids for this? I think not, instead I think I'll save this for a few months later to see if things change. Parking is more than ample. Interior nicely decorated with old style memorabilia and lots of guns on the wall. It has a nice part of the place that has a wooden floor but breaks up to a ceramic tile area, booo for continuity. read more

Owners are horrible people who won't take responsibility is something is wrong and will get aggressive and call you names. She tried under her breath, but was loud enough for me to hear her. When I responded to her, her and her husband starting screaming obscenities at me through the drive through and ran to the front door to flip me off as I drove off. I will say I reacted in kind after because I was so stunned they flipped to crazy so fast. I did nothing to get that reaction. Didn't even ask them to replace something that wasn't right or for a refund. They just couldn't handle when someone didn't think that their product was perfect. The food is good, but the owners and service are terrible. At least I'm not alone. After bringing this up to other people the stories of verbal abuse and poor service from them came flooding in. Do as you please and take your own chance, but I won't be going back there after years of dining in, drive through, and catering. There is no reason to treat people that way. read more

My son and I visited here while waiting on my car to be washed. It's a nice place and the waitress and who I believe was possibly the owner were very nice. My son ordered wings and I had the brisket potato. The potato was nice and filling just a tad too greasy from the brisket oils and flavorless. Overall I would go back since my son won't stop talking about the wings and it was slow in there. Maybe it was just an off day and I know businesses are trying to get things back up and running with this COVID-19. I like to try mom and pop places. If you like Bison burgers this family owned lil restaurant knows how to make them very well. These burgers are 5 star +. Large meaty and cheesy awesomeness on a mild jalapeno bun. Now all I need is a cute mountain cabin, stream and wooden rocking chair to relax in and enjoy this awesome burger next time. Actually the restaurant has a cute Texas theme. The Bison burger is an 8 oz patty with a little gaminess to it with a slice of American and Swiss cheese. They give you a side of romaine, thinly sliced tomatoes, pickles and onions, Now the secret to this awesomeness is the crisscross charring on the burger and ordering the jalapeno bun (slight charge) which is toasted on the grill with something brushed on the bun to give it a slight char and great flavor. Don't get the regular bun -blah. Just listen to the pretty blonde lady there she knows her stuff. I also got the mac and cheese which was good. So I also ordered a 2 meat combo meal with brisket, mild sausage and 2 sides to go. The brisket and mild sausage were very average. I guess once you get a taste of the awesome BBQ restaurants in hill country most places in The Woodlands have a hard time competing with that smoky wood pit flavor. The green beans and BBQ beans were overcooked to my liking. An added plus - their diet Coke had a perfect mix of carbonation and flavor.
