I am writing this review because I am a regular customer at the Rudy's located in Spring. Not all Rudy's are the same. I ordered the meat, 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound ribs, and 1/2 chicken. It was a special birthday celebration and I was excited to bring smoked meat to the party. The meat was red, all of the meats had to be cooked further in the oven since they were a little rare for my liking. I was not very happy with the way the brisket looked, it had an iridescent color on a piece or two. Not fresh, not celebration worthy. I will not order from this location again. read more

Service is good, drinks are cold but Rudy's food in terms of quality and flavor will always be incredibly mediocre. Craft bbq spots are more popular than ever and when you have BAR-A just down the road, just doesn't make sense to go to Rudy's. read more

So I went into Rudy's for the first time with my girl. We ordered 2 brisket plates (1/2lbs each) which comes with NOTHING! 2 sides of coleslaw, 1 side of beans, and 2 bottles of beer. Then when you check out with a credit card they make you tip. There is no button for no tip. They make you tip a guy who simply stands at the cash register taking your order while you're in line. No service, no bringing the food to your table, and no cleaning up after you. You're required to bring your trash to a garbage can. It cost $63.00. Ridiculous! The tiny container of coleslaw where $5.00 each and tasted horrible. They do give you 4 pieces of bread as a highlight. The brisket was good tasting, and possibly a good value though the $63.00 price tag and being forced to tip for cafeteria style dinning made it very hard to see the value. The restaurant itself was nicely appointed and comfortable, but I will not come back. To many better choices in Montgomery, TX. read more

I love this place for the quality and price. Originally from the area and had Rudy's many times all over the state growing up. Can't go wrong with a chopped beef sandwich and some sissy sauce. This time got the pulled pork baked potato. SLAMS! One thing I want to point out about this location is that the staff is extremely friendly and willing to step up and help out with customers. Came in on Monday March 20th and had a solid sized order that was placed online literally 5 min before we walked in. Absolutely the best customer service. I did a catering pick up for about 15 people and let me tell you everything was absolutely 100% great. Customer service: the people to pick up the phone and there are extremely nice and very helpful. They suggested I get the catering platter because that save me a lot of money for my clients that I was picking up food for. We got a ton of brisket, ribs, and sausage. We got all the sides. The banana pudding and the chocolate pudding was simply amazing. These were all great suggestions by the staff. Food: one thing about Rudy's barbecue Is that they are very consistent. They serve up some of the best barbecue at a very fair price. The moist brisket is one of my favorites. The jalapeño sausage is good as well. The ribs are very tasty. I think the potato salad and cream corn are my favorite sides. They are extremely good. As I said above the desserts were amazing. I have never had a bad meal from Rudys. You get great customer service and great food at a very fair price. I will continue to come back to this location for a very long time. read more

First I will say the staff there have always been nice. The BBQ however has not been. The tenderness and juiciness of brisket and turkey is good but there is a dirty smoke flavor that overpowers. The establishment is good but unfortunately the meat is not. Ohhh but the banana pudding is FANTASTIC. Will probably only ever go here for the banana pudding in the future. I've gone multiple times for curbside, and the food and service was excellent. The same consistency in food each time - delicious. I prefer the smokey baked potato with two meats, because one meat isn't enough. And the sause - sissy sause is the way to go. My kids like to mix up the original and sissy for just the right flavor for their taste buds. The brisket is moist and flavorful plus you can ask for fat or no fat. I didn't realize that initially, my mistake. I was told the turkey was delish too. I tried it on my baked potato and wow - it wasn't bad. The treatment is excellent, from the entrance, they ask you if it is the first time in the place, they explain how the portions are served and how it is charged, but they offer you some samples of the different cuts. My husband stopped to pick up dinner to go this past Sunday as I was home sick. We had not eaten here before. I had asked him for a 2 meat platter with Ribs and Brisket (like I have eaten at other BBQ restaurants). He said there was no "platters" and the ordering was by the pound. He came home with a pound of each, potato salad, beans and 2 peach cobblers. There was no BBQ Sauce to be found on it or on the side. I found that to be really annoying. Most of the ribs were overcooked; they were like beef jerky and the brisket was so dry that nothing could bring them back to an edible state. The beans were delicious. The potato salad was ok. The cobbler was a cup of overly sweet mush. This was not a cheap meal and we were really disappointed because you are so close to home. read more

By no means am I a pro or semi pro BBQ guy, but this place is a shame for any animal that gave its life for food. We had prime rib, Pork Ribs and a sausage. None of the meats had any smoke flavor, the prime had not even a slightest sign of a smoke ring. It was dry, overcooked and tasted like styrofoam. Thanks to fat and sauce you get some flavor in it. The Pork Ribs had no bark, no bite not anything you would expect from pork ribs. The sausage was average grocery store sausage and the only reason one star is reasonable. "Real Texas BBQ" it says on the wall, but there should be a second line: "only for people that believe McDonalds makes Real Hamburger" It was a real double visit, the first and last. read more

I was happy to see Rudy's come to town. We tried it and the barbecued chopped brisket sandwich had way too much fat/gristle as well as too much gristle in the brisket on the baked potato. Another guest ordered prime rib. What a mistake! It was sliced into four slices and weighed in front of us. (Was not expecting to get it sliced, forgot about Rudy's being fast food). I should have refused it, but didn't. It was barely warm and I put it between two slices of bread and ate as a sandwich. The only plastic small knife supplied broke when I tried to cut the fat out.
