First time eating here. I expected mediocre food but was surprised by cleanliness and good aroma of the restaurant. Has the fast food style like Freddy's steak burgers and Popeyes environment. It's a zaxbys so the food is what you expect, chicken was much dryer this time but I'll chalk it up to a fluke. However my main issue, and why I'm writing a review is the drive thru system. I ordered 1 meal, the drive thru is pretty empty, and yet I'm asked to park on the side and wait. Whats the point of a drive thru if they can't even serve one meal from it? I'd understand if it was a big family order or something. Went to this location to pick up an order that was called in. Arrived to find a gang of 20 something's in the parking lot talking loud, laughing and playfully kicking at each other. Went inside and no one was there except one person in the back. Waited about 5 minutes and one of the people from the gang outside came in and asked what I was waiting for. I gave the name on the order.....she said "it ain't ready yet"....waited 8 more minutes... was handed the order.. no apology, no kindness. Put my order in the car, circled around the building to leave, stopped to allow a person to walk in front of the car and wouldn't you know... it was "miss hateful" taking a sack of food to her friends. First time at Zaxby's on North Freeway. Use to go to the Louetta Rd, when living near Cypresswood Dr. Here, wings weren't tender as other stores. But tenders are always cooked to perfection, better than Canes to me, no sauce needed. But Zax sauce always a plus. Heat was a little extreme inside based on 61 degrees temperature outside. I had a 5 dollar off 20 coupon that was online only. I asked at the drive thru if that would be okay and if they could apply it anyway. They said yes. Got up to the window and the other woman told me "we don't do it if it's online." Then yelled at her teammate who got it incorrect. The incorrect teammate apologized, to her credit. But you couldn't just punch in 5 dollars off when I showed you that it was on my account and that the website is down? I would have driven away instead of waiting in line for 10 minutes only to be told otherwise at the window. I was pleased with my first time experience with Zaxby's. The customer service isn't phenomenal at the drive-thru, however. When I heard the lady speak in a mundane tone, I had my hopes up temporarily for some good yard bird eating. Usually I have prejudgments of food quality based on customer service. Anyway, I took a long shot and ordered the "wings and things" item marinated with sweet and spicy. Once I bit into the chicken strip, I noticed how meaty and tender it was. The "Zaxby sauce" was a good compliment to the strips as it had a slight tangy tomato paste taste to it. The traditional Wings were meaty, as well. My frugal meter was quite upset here! There are not inexpensive food items on the menu. You will spend at least $4 on any decent side item here seemingly. This place is smart in their efforts to get me here. I only showed up because they sent a free meal voucher for joining there snail mail Club. When I finally made it to the place, I opted to use the drive-thru instead of going in. While in the Drive-Thru, I noticed that they had a sign up for joining their text Club as well. Since the snail mail club did yield me a free meal, I opted to join the text mail Club as well with the mind-state of getting the same type of goodies. The verdict: I'm not certain what the Mass Appeal of this place is. The fries were decent, with a flavorful spice sprinkled all over them, but all in all, nothing special about these crinkle cut fries. The color was not golden brown, nor were there a real crunch to them, but they were decent. The Zaxby's club sandwich did have a nice buttery toast to lay there nicely fried chicken strips on, but that's where the party stops! There was nothing special to warrant the prices that they are charging for this commodity. As a matter of fact, you could make a similar sandwich at home if you get the fried chicken strips together like theirs. The chicken strips itself lacked any noticeable attempt of flavor, so once again, I do not understand the appeal of this place. All in all, this is just another chain restaurant doing what it does. This is my second time going to Zaxbys. The first experience was a pleasant one, the second one not so much. I had made an order for the "Wings and things" which consisted of boneless wings and tenders. I had specifically mentioned that I did not want sauce on the tenders. When the tenders arrived they had sauce on it. I understand mistakes may occur and that's not an issue but what follows is. I went to the front to show the cashier Thanya that my order was incorrect and that I would like to get tenders with no sauce. She looked a little confused but said okay. As I sat down she stormed over to the booth and presented me with the receipt, and explained that she wrote down that the tenders did have sauce and that I was mistaken. I explained to her that I definitely remember asking for no sauce but if I had accidentally not stated so (person with me verified I did) I apologize but I would like to have tenders with no sauce. She then stated the following: Thanya: "Well you told me that you wanted sauce. I have to ask the chefs what they want to do because it's up to them if they feel like cooking your order again or not. First time here, since my GPS pointed me in the wrong direction. This location seems to be in a safer location than the one we normally go to. This one is noticeable from the freeway and the parking lot is well lit. Zaxby's consistently has hot, fresh chicken that always tastes great! This location is not exception to that. The staff is friendly, also. On this visit, we noticed that there was a good amount of ice on the floor, in front of the Coca Cola Freestyle machine. Hmmm, I went through the drive through since that's my only option during this pandemic. I asked the young lady in the drive through what she recommend. I've never heard of Zaxby's before because I've never really been in the Spring area. Raising Cane's dominates where I live, so obviously, I needed to order the chicken fingers and fries to compare what I had or had not been missing out on. Honestlyyyy, Raising Cane's wins this battle, but then again chicken fingers is all they offer, so they better be the best at it, am I right? Their fries have a cajun seasoning, and their bread was crisp and toasted just right. The deal breaker for me is that their chicken fingers were a smaller and although crunchier, wasn't as juicy as Cane's. They also had their own sauce but it wasn't very memorable. I stopped here on my way to Dallas and mostly likely will not again. The restaurant was not clean and the food was not great. The chicken was fried too hard and the portions was small for the price. I was disappointed because I wanted to finally try this place but left a bad impression on me.
