Visited last night. Extremely pricey for minimal portion- which were served at lukewarm temperatures. Ranch beans were nothing but the "soup" no beans in the bowl. Potato salad tasted like vinegar. Creamed corn out of a can with no seasoning and was cold. NO clean silverware! Asked for a real fork and employee said there were NONE clean. Manager thought more about replacing paper rolls in ticket machine's than in ringing us up. No offer of bread. Sauce bottles designed to be shared by multiple tables not wiped or clean. When I first got in here I was kind of unsure what I wanted so I asked if I can have chicken but only the dark meat the young man told me no I had to get the whole chicken that they no longer separate the white meat from the dark meat. The taste of their food is better than other locations I've been to. It tastes authentically smoked and marinated. The only thing I will say about this location is that you have to double check your to go order. I haven't eaten inside, but I do to go weekly for their weekend wings. Two Stars For Service - Three Stars For Food I really want to love Pappas Bar-B-Q believe me I do. But, my two most recent experiences at two separate locations have left a lot to be desired. Let's get the good out of the way first. I love their burgers and fries. Their burgers are huge. Come hungry and leave satisfied. They are seasoned well. The vegetables have always been fresh on them. The hand cut french fries are as good as anywhere I've ever had them. They are excellent. What I can't seem to get past is just how slow their service is. I knew we were in trouble when we arrived and saw the line of cars wrapped around the building. I'd love to say that going inside was a better experience but alas, it was not. The line moves excruciatingly slow. We're talking snail's pace here. Once you do place your order, the waiting doesn't end there. When it was about 20 minutes since I had paid for my order, I decided to go back to the counter to see my order sitting in the window. I wonder how long it had been there? Why had they not called my name or paged my table pager? The world may never know. I'm not saying they're bad folks because they aren't. But they definitely need to step up their game and get the food out a little faster. You can do better Pappas Bar-B-Q! read more

Everybody complaining seems to be going through the drive-thru. Get your butt out of your car go in and pick up the delicious barbecue. It's good. Is it the best? No. Is it damn good? Yes! Brisket, delicious. Beef rib, yes! Pulled pork, yum. Sausage both beef and pork, hell yes! Dirty rice, yum. It's good. I do not agree at all with this load rating. Go and have a feast! I have many times when I'm too lazy to drive into the City and go to one of the more refined barbecues that uses prime meat. This is an awesome substitute if you want to have something around town. If you're hungry and need a quick meal, don't come here. It took us 30 minutes to get through the line with 3 orders ahead of us. We were charged for additional food because the man at the counter told my husband "hurry I need to go to the bathroom". We then received the wrong food because they misunderstood our order, not sure how you get combo plate from a poboy, but that's okay. It really wasn't a big deal, we just asked that it was corrected and were given attitude. I've been going to this location for over 10 years and it's has continued to decline. I'm afraid today was my last visit. The prices continue to rise and the portions continue to get smaller. Got the beef trio which is now $26 and looked like a joke, one piece of brisket cut in half, 1 rib and small piece of sausage, comes with 2 sides that used to come in a bowl now they put it in little plastic cups. I used to like this place because it was a good value, I understand prices are going up but why make the portions so small. You might save a little on food cost but when customers don't return is it worth it? Years ago they got rid of the free soft serve ice cream but as long as the BBQ was good I kept coming, but now they have you leave hungry with tiny portions and big prices. I have ordered large "value packs" from here on a few occasions. Typically, when I order from here, I am feeding 20-40 people. I have had more than on person tell me how much they enjoy their sliced turkey. I typically don't like pork sausage regardless of where I order it. I don't think their pork sausage is bad, it's just not my preference. The staff at this location is friendly and accommodating. The last time I ordered here, I needed the food quickly. Chris was very helpful and had food for 40 people ready in about 75-80 minutes. To be fair, I have only ordered food in bulk. I have never dined-in at this particular location. Excellent bbq turkey and bbq chicken. The ranch beans aren't just pinto beans. They add a meat mixture which makes them even better. The original sweet bbq sauce has a kick to it but nothing too spicy. The cucumber salad is signature and unique to this restaurant. As for the dining area, it's spacious and has quiet areas all around the dining room divided by partitions which is nice. I'll definitely come here again when flying out of Houston. read more

This is the worst location in the whole entire chain. The customer service is nonexistent and the food quality is hit or miss. Usually miss but it's the closest one to my house. The only other one is at Little York and 59 and it's almost just as bad. I ordered a simple chopped beef potato and the 1st one they gave me was all fat scraps no meat. Then had the nerve to have a problem when I complained. Then they replaced it with one that was all dried out like it had been sitting for days. This chain's food is way too expensive for the quality of food and service they provide. The prices keep going up with everything else going down. If I could give zero stars I would. I've complained more than once and so have many others I know but management has yet to do anything to improve the issues. We've been coming to pappas for a very long time. The service and food was amazing. You felt like you were at family's house. Good bbq, service and the atmosphere was Texas style. But the last couple of times we've gone it's been very disappointing in the service and food. I understand there's been an adjustment with covid but that shouldn't have effected the way the food is cooked and served. Our food was subpar. They had a bunch of young kids working and they didn't seem to care they were at work. When I used to go through drive thru you didn't have to concern yourself with looking in the bag to see if everything was there. Let's just say now you're going to have to check everything. They place their order and the workers make the plate as they walk through. But if it's to ToGo you walk with them. Only to go the the register and place your order. Then given a call clicker and has to wait. I waited over 30 minutes for my order. The costumer behind me ate and left before I even received my food. A total disorganized mess.
