After being ignored for 30 minutes I finally got an update that my order had not been started. Several employees had no idea where my order was and what was going on. After an hour of waiting outside I finally decided to cancel my online order. In the process of canceling my order I was getting much attitude from the employees inside. This is the worst location in the whole entire chain. The customer service is nonexistent and the food quality is hit or miss. Usually miss but it's the closest one to my house. The only other one is at Little York and 59 and it's almost just as bad. I ordered a simple chopped beef potato and the 1st one they gave me was all fat scraps no meat. Then had the nerve to have a problem when I complained. Then they replaced it with one that was all dried out like it had been sitting for days. This chain's food is way too expensive for the quality of food and service they provide. The prices keep going up with everything else going down. If I could give zero stars I would. I've complained more than once and so have many others I know but management has yet to do anything to improve the issues. We've been coming to pappas for a very long time. The service and food was amazing. You felt like you were at family's house. Good bbq, service and the atmosphere was Texas style. But the last couple of times we've gone it's been very disappointing in the service and food. I understand there's been an adjustment with covid but that shouldn't have effected the way the food is cooked and served. Our food was subpar. They had a bunch of young kids working and they didn't seem to care they were at work. When I used to go through drive thru you didn't have to concern yourself with looking in the bag to see if everything was there. Let's just say now you're going to have to check everything. It's a shame to drive 30 min to enjoy some good Texas bbq to be disappointed. It's time to find a new bbq place. read more

The food is delicious. The employees was friendly. However the inside ToGo system is horribly set up. You have to walk through the same with those ordering done in food. They place their order and the workers make the plate as they walk through. But if it's to ToGo you walk with them. Only to go the the register and place your order. Then given a call clicker and has to wait. I waited over 30 minutes for my order. The costumer behind me ate and left before I even received my food. A total disorganized mess. Was in Humble for work and decided to stop and get a meal from here. Big mistake, within 20 minutes, I was extremely ill and was not able to hold the food. Called the restaurant and spoke to the manager Yasmin, she assured me they would mail a gift card to reimburse me for the meal. Never received it. I explained to her I also didn't want anyone else to get sick and they should take up whatever they sold me. The post covid service on Memorial Day was amazing. I ordered online then waited in curbside pickup. Not less than 3 employees continued to check on me, my order, and remain pleasant the entire time. The worst experience EVER. I placed my order inside the restaurant in the to go line and the register employee was very rude Bobby P. He took my order and money but never took my name and never gave me the buzzer which lights up when your food is ready. I sat there 45 minutes and watched people that ordered after my walk out with their food. I went to the register and asked Bobby P where is my order and he said in a very rude demeanor did I take your name? I said no but you sure did take my money and showed him the receipt. He said oh I accidentally took your order as a dine in order so I will need to write this down and you will have to wait. I said no thank you I just want my money back ($80.00) I will never ever go to this restaurant again to waste my time or money. I just went through the drive thru and ordered a chopped baker (dry chop, with everything on the side) like I always do. I also ordered food for my son. I was checking the order before driving off and discovered my barbecue sauce was cold. When I inquired about it I was told "that's how we serve it now". I asked for warm sauce and the request was met with a cold stare and an attitude. While I was waiting on that I discover my chopped beef was also cold!!!! So, I asked if I could have warm meat. Holy serving size batman! This place has enough food to feed an army. Came to TX and had to check out a BBQ place and this was the first one I went to. The food here was great, delicous and had huge proportions. I ordered the chicken and baby back ribs with mac n cheese and yams. Being 6-3 200lbs I was barely able to finish it. The yams were VERY sweet, like a desert and the mac n cheese was good. The meat fell right off the bone of the ribs and chicken, I would advise putting some of their BBQ original sauce on there to really enhance the flavor. They keep it piping hot! They have free self serve ice cream which was the unnecessary cherry on top of the gluttony that was happening. Of course I had to indulge for the full experience of regret and self loathing later. My only qualm was that they ran out of forks and it took them 5-10 min to refill, there was a line of people waiting to eat their food as it got cold because it took them so long to refill the forks. Everyone was super nice and inviting, and will recommend items off the menu if you don't know what you want! read more

During these trying times I understand we're all stressed out, however you should not be working with public with a Nasty Attitude. Ate here for the first time to celebrate the start of summer vacation and definitely think it's one of the better BBQ spots in the area. I was impressed with the food, prices and ambiance. I ordered the baked potato. It was a little greasier than I prefer, but it sure was delicious. My kids split the rib combo because their kids offerings were kind of lame and they loved it! We finished it off with a giant piece of cheese cake and a few coronas (for us big kids). We'll be back next time we're in the mood for some BBQ. read more

I think Pappas BBQ tries to hard to emulate Goode Company BBQ (which isn't the best to begin with). Cafeteria style, wood tables but all looks cheaply made, tables are not cleaned off. It is kind of nasty trying to find a seat, and the people here don't seem to care that nothing is cleaned up. Ribs are dry, flavorless, and tough. They seem broiled to me, and are bad beef ribs to boot. The sauce is a weaker version of Goode Company's. Think a thin tomato paste. Slaw was not fresh, hard, and nasty. The baked beans, cold and hard. Maybe worse than Demeris BBQ, which is one of the worst in town. Avoid. read more

Made a quick stop in Houston on our move cross country to see an old friend. I really wanted BBQ and they were more than happy to take us. Their first choice was Tin Roof, but it was closed, so Pappas it was. The service was very quick, you order at a counter and by the time you get your drink your food is ready. I was craving pulled pork, so I got the sandwich, although I wish I would have looked at the menu board a little more closely because most people ordered this HUGE baked potato with beef tips that looked amazing. So I've never been to a Papas Bar b q and my friend decided to take me to this specific spot. I ordered the Brisket sandwich chopped w fries and slaw. The slaw was excellent. Fries really Salty and greasy. The Brisket was horrible. I actually end up wasting over half my brisket do to the extreme fat in it. I've eaten brisket all my life and this time I could have thrown up from the fat content plus I ordered it chipped not sliced. I will try papas bar b q again but at another spot and I will stay away from the brisket. My friend had the chicken and it was ok. So I got a response from Chris with a link that doesn't work. I've only dined at this former Luther's BBQ location a few times, but they are pretty much like any other Pappa's BBQ locations. My usual order during lunchtime is the half chicken plate which comes with 2 sides. I always like fresh cut fries as 1 side (no upcharge). They have increased this once pretty good deal to 9.95 at most locations. On occasion though, this location will run a special for $7.95, which is the price I was paying for it a cpl of years ago at their Westwood location. I don't really recommend eating at Pappa's for dinner, food doesn't ever seem to be as fresh. read more

Why do the never have baked potatos ready? It doesn't matter what day or time they are always running out and you have to sit in line for 20 to 30 minuets. And it's only 7pm they have 4 hours until closing time so they should keep it stocked. They know they get packed over a ceramic time and should have a extra stack of baked potatoes ready and they don't. The food is good but they just need to do better with options. Even when you try to order something else off the menu when they don't have potatoes the run out of other things as well, fries, sausage, burgers. And they need to go back to the original bbq sauce recipe because the one they have now is too sweet, taste like sugar. read more

So disappointed in this location. My husband and I went through the drive thru knowing we only had a little time for lunch but bar-b-que sounded good. We haven't been here in a while and I was reminded why. My husband got the special of the day which was 1/2 chicken and a rib with 2 sides. His chicken is the only reason I gave 2 stars! The rub had the perfect pepper sweet taste and the chicken was so moist and had the perfect amount of smoke too. The rib piece he got was so overcooked that he couldn't bite it apart let alone pull it apart so it just got tossed. I ordered the Texas two-step po-boy which was sausage and pulled pork. I must have mis-read the menu as I thought it was supposed to be chopped beef and pork :(. The very little pulled pork that was on the sandwich was so over-dry that it was like chewing leather. Did I mention the couple of thin sausage slices? This was suppose to be a po-boy but less than half the bun was filled and the bread was so stale and chewy too. Oh, you better ask for pickles, onions and sauce on the side if you want any at all!! My sandwich was bare and nothing included. To spend $8 + on just a sandwich that had very little over-cooked meat served on a stale bun is ridiculous. Forgot to mention the sauce, for the little bit that was on the sandwich it had way too much vinegar almost a sour bite to it. Not good and very runny. I thought the Pappas chain had higher standards than this. I truly can't understand how their location downtown has such amazing flavors and is always cooked to perfection and their sauce is thick goodness. How does this Humble location have the same name? This place is such a disappointment. I was so upset by the food I forgot to mention the lousy rushed service at the drive thru/window. Don't ask the girl a question as she might charge you for that! They do a solid job and I might have given them a higher score if they hadn't forgotten to include BBQ sauce with our large carryout order. The brisket and sausage we had just weren't succulent and flavorful enough that they didn't need the accompaniment of some sauce IMHO. The sides we ordered (potato salad and ranch style beans) were both tasty. Pappa's isn't in the top tier of BBQ joints and I wouldn't call them "gourmet" but they're solid for a chain restaurant. read more
