I typically don't leave such a negative review. Today was probably one of the worst experiences at a restaurant in possibly my entire life. The place has a horrible putrid smell when you walk in. It doesn't end there. You quickly find out the smell is coming from their cooking oil. The chips reak and taste like throw up. My kids' chicken strips and fries smell and taste the same. The steak fajitas i had were cooked perfectly, but the steak was cheap fatty/rubbery and not great, especially considering the $40+ price tag just for fajitas. The restaurant ambiance and interior is not upscale as the prices would suggest. The one shining thing about the place was the wait staff and management. They were very apologetic and nice. It's now nearly 45 mins after leaving, and I can't get this smell and taste out my mouth/ clothes. read more

Their fajita platters are soooo bomb!! Meat is not chewy at all. Easy to tear apart and flavor. Get their shrimp! Cant go wrong with either. Restaurant: has a good ambiance, super large with seating inside and out. Service: We were promptly seated, but took the server about 5 min to acknowledge us. Similar service throughout the meal, with the server being 5-10 min late on checking on us. Not a big issue as we were having a night out. But had to ask twice for hot sauce, which we found out they were out of after 20 min or so. Margarita empty for 10 min before we flagged the server for another. Food: Beef fajitas were good, but got the tortillas about 5 min after the plate. Nothing special, but not bad. The beef tacos were ground beef on cold tortillas. Felt like a really large Taco Bell menu item All in all, restaurant was great, service was ok, and the food was pedestrian at best, with tacos being a disappointment. Well on Valentines Day, Michelle and myself went out early to Pappasito's and the waitresses and the waiter were on point with their service. The food was outstanding and we ate the Plato Amor for two. We beat the crowd and everything was wonderful. This pappasitos could have potential but unfortunately on a busy Saturday night they let the guard down to compensate for the quantities of customers and in turn let down the quality of the food. I ordered the fajita plates and the food had a imbedded taste that almost as if they had just cleaned the cooking pan with soap, and our other plate had a minimal amount of food in it with the beans and rice partially cold. I was really looking forward to eating a great meal after waiting one hour but unfortunately it was a disappointment. If you are in the area on the weekend I recommend steering clear from this restaurant to prevent any more future disappointed customers that are just hungry to eat a hot meal. Pappasitos has been a tried and true favorite in the Clear Lake area for a long time! The atmosphere is lively, the food is fresh, and the service is pretty good regardless of how busy it gets. The best day to go is always Wednesdays after 5pm for their half off fajitas special, but be aware, this is the most crowded day to come. Weekends are always packed as well! Luckily parking isn't usually a problem, and the tasty fajitas and margaritas always make the wait worth it. I usually like sitting right next to the tortilla maker because it's warm, and it's fun watching the tortillas go from start to finish. If you're looking for a quiet, intimate dinner this definitely isn't the place. There is usually always a big party when you come here, and prepare to hear their Pappasitos birthday song at least once. Our waiter was great. He got quadruple sat and was awesome. Came here for my birthday. And got too full off of the seafood enchiladas to claim my birthday cake. Seafood enchiladas were delicious. My complaint is with the staff (not our waiter) and managers gabbing about the customers (me). I went to the restroom and overheard them talking shit about me and my table. First off thank you for ALLOWING Us to get our birthday cake to go. That was very generous of you. Secondly next time you want to talk shit, please talk about how we tipped $23 on a $47 tab. The "fresh" guacamole was pre-made and pre-served on a bed of lettuce, side of sad chopped tomato, onions on the side and of course chopped jalapeno. I understand food prices have increased and with that being sad I feel like most consumers expect more for their buck but I feel even this place has gone done hill. Our server was obviously on a mission to get us in and out as soon as possible. Quality was not what it used to be to be especially for the price. I mean dinner for four here with drinks is not a cheap meal and the server rushing us and leaving our bill when food was delivered was disrespectful. When we got there, I realized I had been to Pappasito's at other locations, so let me say that shows it's a) not memorable and b) the same at at least four of them. Overpriced - we got the fajitas for 2 because we realized almost everything on the menu was $20-35, so we might as well order fajitas because they were $30/person. And the cheese cost extra. Lackluster. The only thing with much flavor on the entire table was my grilled veggies and the garlic butter with the meat. The meat was juicy but boring. The tortillas were warm and fresh but not much flavor. The onions looked perfectly grilled but didn't have much onion flavor or seasoning, just oil. I guess the guacamole was pretty good. I saw one review that compared these fajitas to Lupe's. Do yourself a favor and go to Lupe's. They are cheaper there and taste WAY better. Yes, cheaper! And I thought Lupe's was the most expensive fajitas before tonight. The chips had a weird flavor and the salsa was warm. I completely judge Tex mex on the salsa, and it's not supposed to be warm. My husband got a sample of their "green sauce" and he said it was like someone added cream to grass clippings. So it's not avocado based green sauce like at Gringos. Our server was awesome and the atmosphere is great, but the only way I'd eat this food again is if I had enough alcohol ahead of time that I didn't care what the food tasted like. read more

The plates are good, but they could be better, though the beef fajitas contained lots of nerves, and some were cold. This place has great service on the other hand, We were given what we asked for. As for the ambiance, if you want a quiet space, this is not the place to go. Though all aside, the main reason I am giving this place 3 stars is the price. We went to Pappasitos and they said that as long as we seat outside it should be fine. Thank goodness! I was so happy that my doggy didn't have to stay in the car! Now, the food was pretty great. I had a strawberry Margarita (of course) and it was good. I ordered Fajitas and they were pretty great. My brother and coworker were satisfied with their food since I didn't hear them complain. I asked the server for a peeled carrot for my dog and she brought it out for me and didn't charge me anything. I thought that was sweet. They left the wrong order and didn't come back until we flagged down a manager. He claimed to be working on the right order, but time kept passing so we began eating the thing we didn't order. It was a long time until we got our original order and by then we were no longer hungry. Not only did they make NO accommodation for the screwup, they charged us for our more expensive original order which we didn't eat because it came too late. This Pappasito's is always on point. They are consistent with their delicious food every single time I go, I can count on the same food, and the same high quality. Only two things I can gripe about is the price and it's not too handicapped friendly. Took dad there who can't walk and uses walker and he couldn't use it there too well cause it was way tooo tight. All around an excellent dining experience. From the hosts to the Tortillera who was so kind and gave my kids a ball of dough when they were watching how the tortillas were made. Alphonso was so polite and made us feel very special even though he was busy with other guests as well. We never felt rushed and he took care of all of our requests with no complaints. At one point, a chef came and brought out my sons kid's meal. My father in law asked him about a taco he thought was missing from him plate. It was actually not missing, he just misread the menu. The chef surprised him with the biggest taco we've ever seen at no charge. We just had a terrible dining experience at another restaurant a few days ago and this visit totally blew us away in the best way. Nothing big. The manager always comes makes it's right. Goes well over and beyond to make sure everything is correct and we're satisfied before, during and after we leave! But when these guys start charging $32 for a tacos al carbon plate with 2 basic fajita tacos, rice, beans and some guacamole...are you kidding me?! Then my date ordered the sizzling fajita platter and for the amount you pay, one would expect this comes with cheese and sour cream...nope, that's extra. We had a waiter that was not only ver attending, but a great salesman and we fell for everything he sold to us hook, line and sinker...I mean he got us got $150 dollars good for a guacamole appetizer (which he charged us twice for), 2 beers, an expensive margarita (my fault, I never asked price and of course my salesman waiter didn't bother warning me, cause why would you if this only adds to your tip), tacos al carbon plate (again$32!!!) and fajita sizzler plate that this amazing salesman otherwise known as a waiter decided to upsell my date on(again, our fault for not asking). I decided I wanted to make pappasito's my place to dine to celebrate my birthday. It started with a basket full of crumbs and a terrible awful flavored salsa. We ordered our meal the reason I wanted to come here was because I love the grill tilapia with grilled veggies and avocado lime sauce. This server after they took my order came back to tell me that tilapia is not in season oh dear tilapia is always in season. about that time the kitchen manager did come by to apologize about the salsa that he would try to find out what was going on and he came back to say that they burnt the tomato well I'm glad you figured out what happened to the salsa now why are you serving it. He also told me that they took the grill tilapia off the menu that they only offer the tilapia in the fish tacos well I prefer tilapia and I love that dish so that was a disappointment.
