    Wall of beer. Wow!
    Dustin E.

This is right next-door to the place where my wife gets her pedicures. I have never been here before, but she's been in a couple of times and told me it was wonderful. I happened to be grabbing some supplies at the Ace Hardware nearby and saw Pappos was there and open for business. A large party had just exited and so I grabbed my umbrella after I parked my car and walked in the thunderstorm into the restaurant. At first, I thought it was pretty loud because of the concrete floor and the wooden tables, but as soon as the parents with the screaming baby left, it got much quieter. I was greeted at the bar by the general manager, Alex, who was covering one of her bartenders shifts tonight. She introduced herself immediately and asked my name. She was very kind and welcoming. I commented on the very impressive selection of beers they have. 32 taps on the wall and she is responsible for the selection. I can tell you, Alex has excellent taste! The beer list is voluminous and impressive. I don't drink much beer any more, but I had two delicious ones. The house blonde ale is lovely. I didn't have much room for a salad after a beer so I just went straight to an 8 inch pizza. My wife is currently out of the country and I didn't want to have any leftovers and that was all I could eat. I nearly couldn't finish that. I ordered a meat lovers pizza, and Alex was kind enough to swap out the bacon for mushrooms for me because I don't enjoy bacon on pizzas, or much at all unless it's cooked medium. Crispy bacon grosses me out. I think I'm a weirdo. At least that's what my wife says about my bacon aversion. I got the hand tossed crust, and the pizza itself was very good! Probably top 5 in KC that I've had. Impressive for a chain, though I do not think there are any other locations in the metro. If you like pizza, you definitely need to give this place a shot. There were definitely some regular customers in there having a great time and we were all watching this sport called paddle ball on TV. Fascinating! Anyway, I will be headed back to Pappos for more pizza for sure and also at lunchtime for one of their tasty sandwiches. Five stars all the way!

Ordered some take out Saturday for our neighbors get together, this place had some very good options for vegetarian meals and nailed it on the traditional pepperoni pizza. The crust was light and hand tossed style. Can't wait to try some more.

Very fast service and great pizza. The salads are huge my sister and I split the Cesar. Very good but a bit too much dressing for my liking. I like thin crust. Could be a little crunchier. My sister got a gluten free pizza and they messed up her order so they made her a new one for free. She said crust was very good for gluten free. Best she ever had. However price was high. Only one size (small maybe 8 or 10?) for gluten free and $20, Def would come back and one of my favorite pizza places.

Food is incredible! The pizza is up there with the best pizza I've ever ate in my life! They use fresh made daily ingredients, as the pizza dough is made daily as well! The service is incredible as well, as our server was constantly asking us how everything was and tasted. You could really tell that they care about putting out great quality food. The restaurant/bar is a nice cozy place, remind you we went on a Monday afternoon and there was hardly anyone there but we were digging all the paintings about the restaurant and food they had. I really digged the Dinosaur eating pizza painting, I kinda wish you could buy it, my kiddo would love it in his room. And when you order YOU HAVE TO TRY THE BROWN BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!! Another guest there recommended we try them and that they're "life changing" and he wasn't wrong so glad we did! They're perfectly cooked, balanced sweet and salty, and has top notch chocolate in them! It's crazy because this pizza place makes better cookies than MOST OF the bakeries I've ever been too. MOST DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK p.s. my 6 month old daughter had some of the pizza sauce, and cheese off the pizza and from the salad and she APPROVES

New fan of this place! We started with the wings in the KC BBQ sauce and they were sooo good. The sauce was amazing and the wings themselves were good portions of chicken. We split a caesar salad and that was just okay, a little light on the dressing. I did the meat lover pizza on hand tossed crust and it was just what i was looking for. The toppings were great but the dough itself was the best part. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful as it was our first time in. Definitely will be doing carry out for the wings this upcoming football season. One thing I will note though is that it is very loud in there.

Excellent pizza and rotating beer selection keeps us coming back for more.

$23 for a 14 inch pizza seems a little pricey. Pizza had a good flavor but the wings were rubbery.

More than just Frozen Custard!…read more For perspective, it has been said people should be more than a "pretty face.'' I do like their frozen custard as much as I do Ted Drew's in St. Louis! But it might be a disservice to some of the other things available. In the "Covid Lockdown Era", we're open to safe drive throughs and curbside delivery as an alternative to actually cooking meals in our kitchen. So on a whim we decided to check out their non-frozen offerings for dinner. Pulling up at the dive through a friendly voice came out of the speaker. As we had never had anything but frozen custard their we did quick looks at their menu. I settled on a "Rockin Burger" (¼ lb Angus patty served on a butter toasted bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and King sauce), my order without the tomatoes and pickles as that's my taste. My wife latched onto the "KC Jazz Burger" (¼ lb Angus patty served on a butter toasted bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, sizzling bacon and BBQ sauce). Both were ordered as "meals," adding fries and a medium Pepsi product. On first glance we were both impressed with quantity served. Not following the herd, the burgers were actually bigger than the buns (not a "Where's the Beef" moment). Red onions rather than chopped onions was another case of walking on the wild side. The buns were another high point. Not anemic or overpowering the sandwiches, they had great flavor without some hard crust or mushy afterthought - easily enhancing the sandwiches. The fries were very good for fast food. The BBQ sauce was light and also flavor enhancing (acceptable in Kansas City). The tab for both meals was around $16.00 including tax. Adding to the enjoyment, the packaging allowed for the meals to still be hot when we finished to 3 mile drive home (kind of rare in fast food). For now they only offer drive through and delivery during the lockdowns. Safety first. Looking past the "Pretty Face" of their frozen custard, there is real substance within their menu. That initial "whim" paid off, and I am sure we will be returning.

I've been eager to try Custard's Last Stand for over a year now and, I'm very sad to report, it did…read morenot live up to the high expectations I set for it. It's not god-awful, but our entire experience was just...subpar. To start off, the service is not great. The entire place seems to be staffed by teenagers (not a bad thing!) who have not been trained to run the place well (a bad thing) and who don't know what's on offer (a very bad thing). We asked if we could substitute the cheddar cheese that comes on the burger for American cheese. She didn't know and went to ask her manager, then returned to inform us that they don't have American cheese. What kind of Americana-themed diner doesn't have American cheese?! The food was also just fine. The burger patties look like they came straight out of the freezer in a school cafeteria, but they tasted surprisingly good! Well-seasoned and not rubbery. The buns were fine. The fries were good, beer-battered and flaky but quite undercooked. The soda tasted like nothing - barely even carbonated water. To add to the (non-literal) sour taste left by the food, the ice cream was just so-so. The custard was bland and the ice cream is quite expensive, especially for not being made in-house. Boo! The ambience is cute but it seems like someone just googled "50s Americana" and added the first 15 Amazon listings to their cart to decorate the place. As another reviewer said, I am EXTREMELY disappointed to see what seems like a local institution advertising with hideous AI-generated posters. Is it really that hard to take a picture of a burger or an ice cream cone? I wouldn't recommend this place. Take a trip north to Danny's Burger Shack for a good meal instead!
