    Combo Pizza, no black olives.
    Dustin E.

This is a nice place in Waldo as the name suggests. Waldo Pizza has been on my list for sometime. Before the Chamber Orchestra concert at the Warnell House tonight was the time. Your staff here is really great! I can't see enough about them. Everyone we encountered was very kind. Even humorous. The restaurant itself is very clean and nice and I appreciate that. They have an old school pizzeria salad bar, which I loved! Great selection of all the classics. They had a couple of different lettuce, mixtures, no iceberg, and some wonderful dressings that you were able to pour instead of scoop out. That is thoughtful. $6 for a small salad bar plate might be a little steep. The three of us ordered the Combo pizza and we decided to get a large one, thin crust, and we finished it. I like the bar here and the great beers on tap include several local favorites. The pizza here is pretty good, though not the best in town. They do a good business here with lots of carryout in the neighborhood and I can see why. It's a solid location under new ownership since December. We would return.

I didn't grow up with Waldo Pizza, but it feels somewhat nostalgic to me and that makes it my favorite pizza in the city! They have fun specialty pizzas- some of my favorite are the buffalo chicken, the white chicken and the hawaiian pizzas. They also have a lot of options like crusts options, GF options, etc. Carry out is so easy with curbside pickup. Dining in is also a great option and can vouch for kid friendliness (their coloring sheet keeps my kids entertained until the food comes out). Definitely recommend!

I went to a Waldo Folk event here. The music at the event was great and so was the pizza and beer. The beer list is long and it includes a lot of good local beers too. I had a Double IPA from Diametric. I got a build your own pizza, 18-inch on hand tossed crust with Italian sausage and mushrooms. It was plenty of food to split for two people. We brought some home. I'd like to go back and try the thin crust. It looked good and I heard good things about if it it.

We have not been here for many years and were in the area and decided to stop in for dinner. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The pizza was great! We had a 12" gluten free crust/combo pizza. It came out quickly and their garlic ranch dip was good too. The restaurant is super casual and it has a good lower level at the time we were there. We would definitely go back again.

Still a leader in my pizza clubhouse. I'm not really local enough, but Waldo Pizza is a big hitter when it comes to destination pizza stops for the wife & I. We've come to appreciate the hand-crafting of each pie and are standard board of fare includes a large pizza with a metric ton of sliced black olives. Jayce was on point for us this Saturday afternoon and served us up right. 75th & Wornall is perpetually under construction but that doesn't dissuade us from parking just a bit further away, because the pizza & stuff is worth the wait! Pro tip: Try the butter cake. It's ridiculously good, like several notches above that nice lady at your church that bakes the best desserts. Use the strawberry sauce that comes with, or don't, but the cake is worth the indulgence.

Had an order of ravioli as an appetizer. They were solid. Combo pizza minus green peppers with extra cheese. Solid pizza, traditional crust was a tad doughy. Overall solid.

These sandwiches aren't cheap and ordering online where the instructions are printed in front of their faces you wouldn't think it would be a difficult thing to do. But lo and behold the last 4 orders it's wrong every time and they are slow. When they do mess up there is no remorse just attitude. The order before this they ran out of white bread in the early afternoon. Since it was for my kid and he is picky he wouldn't eat anything else, I got the most attitude about requesting a refund instead it almost turned me off forever. But today I decided to give them another chance and try them again. Never again. Ordered 2 giant subs and just requested them plain. Somehow that was too much but after coming back to the store and informing them, it was an inconvenience to request the sandwiches made correctly. Was I pushed to the front of the online orders? Nope. So the entire point of ordering online was defeated because I ended up waiting over an hour between the 2 times having to go that I could and should have gone somewhere else. Once I got my food, it was wrapped so poorly that half of the turkey sandwich I ordered was at the bottom of the bag. Going to go somewhere the customers are actually appreciated

We saw a jersey mikes in the area so we decided to place an online order and head that way. We arrived past the quoted pick up time but the order wasn't prepared yet. They were pretty busy with several online orders and walk in customers. The employees were friendly despite being swamped. I always get the number 9 on Rosemary Parmesan bread and this was exactly what I was expecting and in line with previous orders at other locations. I do ask them to remove the onions because I'm just not a fan and on this occasion it was missed. Not a huge deal because I just removed them myself but I appreciate when they just omit it. The space wasn't the largest but there were a few tables and it seemed relatively clean. I'd definitely grab a sandwich and recommend them to anyone in the area.

This past week, I joined a friend for lunch, and we both want to formally thank Dana at the front counter for being so welcoming, gracious and helpful. I accidentally knocked over the menu holder, and she reassured me that it was fine and happens frequently. My friend and I split the bill for our order, and she cheerfully rang up each of our portions separately. She guided us through some of the menu options which was much appreciated as there were some new items since my last visit. The food here is FANTASTIC!! I can't remember what I ordered on my first visit (but I do remember that it was delicious!); this week, I had the Brookside Buiddha Bowl, which was AMAZING! Even the presentation was wonderful (see attached photo)! All the ingredients were delicious, and the flavors melded beautifully, and it was so satisfying; it kept me fueled and focused during a long afternoon at work. My friend had the Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch salad and said it was mouth-wateringly fabulous. The weather was nice enough to sit in the outside patio, which is well-appointed (even a free water station); the first time I was here, I ate indoors and the dining area is light, airy, and expansive, with plenty of room between tables and quiet enough to chat. Having such a healthy, delicious restaurant in the neighborhood is marvelous, and I'm already planning my next trip back to Hemma Hemma! Thank you all SO much!

The restaurant is not massive so I would recommend a reservation if you can, or you may end up needing to wait for a table (they only do dinner reservations). One thing I would want to mention is the tables are a bit close together making it a little awkward when you're getting up. We had to move our table to let the folks sitting next to us in and then again when we were leaving. I couldn't wait to try the Filthy Martini, a spring specialty cocktail, which contains both pickle AND olive juice + pickle stuffed olives and a salt and pepper rim. It was just exactly what I wanted and would come back solely for the cocktail. For dinner, I had the Yoshoku Beef Curry and it was delicious. The meat was so savory and the runny egg was a perfect add. Strongly recommend if you like Japanese curry. We cannot wait to come back to try brunch and we are also looking forward to their Dinette location downtown opening on the weekends to give that spot a try as well.

It somehow did not feel crowded, it was a neighborhood feel in the best way. As to the food and drink! The Arancini app was good, the sauce was better. My husband and son shared the Pizze Diavola and the Ragu di Manzo. I had the Tortellini. We each had a cocktail and when I asked our server, Vinny for a recommendation he zeroed in on the perfect Limoncello Prosecco Spritz for me. I was delighted and it made the dinner! I can't say enough about the goodness of each dish. The Pizze was savory, the crust oily and crisp at the same time. The toppings were perfection. The Ragu di Manzo with the braised short rib was spicy and delectable, tender, perfect. I always, always order Tortellini when I go Italian and I am very picky. I'm a fan of their take. The sauce is what makes it, and although the peas were a bit tough the proscuitto was crisp and the sauce was light and nutty. To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

A few months ago my sister and I hosted a baby shower for our other sister and after looking around an options we decided to go with McLains. It was a smaller group, and we were doing a brunch theme, and our sister LOVES sweets. That paired with our desire to support local, and our shared love of McLains, this was just the most obvious choice. We ended up ordering a cake and first of all I have to say their cake flavor choices are insane - I think we settled on a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (YUM), but I don't think you can go wrong here. We also ordered one of their pre-set pastry bundles for pick up and honestly everything was wonderful. I think I placed the order about a week out and it was ready when I came to pick it up. What pushed this experience into five star category for me? Just the friendliness of the staff, the serving tools they send you home with, and how thoughtful everyone was. The food was also really just exactly what we needed and it was so good there were hardly any leftovers, I think the kids cleared us out by lunch! At any rate, if you're on the hunt for a great spot to support for your next brunch event consider McLains - they won't let you down!

Here, the strict, timeless geometry of the Left Bank softens into a warm, sun-lit casual elegance, a neighborhood sanctuary where the hum of local politics replaces the brooding silence of the philosopher's corner. It is a space where the Democratic social scene is always in full, effervescent effect, a kinetic theater of ideas where local strategists, organizers, and policy wonks gather over marble tables to debate the future of the state while tearing apart freshly baked croissants. The air thickens not with existential dread, but with the electric, hopeful prose of a collective striving for progress, making it the definitive salon of the modern suburban landscape. The beauty of French Market lies in this seamless blending of civic passion and culinary delight. Every corner of the room feels curated with a benevolent affection, an atmosphere fueled entirely by a staff that can only be described as thoroughly fabulous. From the front counter to the busy kitchen, the team moves with a synchronized, smiling grace that makes every patron feel like the guest of honor at an intimate neighborhood gathering. They navigate the bustling room with a genuine warmth, pouring drinks and delivering plates with an infectious energy that elevates the casual setting into something truly extraordinary. It is a rare, beautiful thing to find a restaurant where the hospitality feels less like a service industry transaction and more like a generous act of civic kinship. On the plate, the market routinely touches the sublime, offering dishes that sing with a clear, poetic precision. The crab cakes are a revelation of coastal longing, packed with sweet, tender lump meat and boasting a delicate, golden sear that yields effortlessly to the fork. Nearby, the croque madame arrives as an opulent, dripping monument to breakfast-time indulgence, a decadent tower of savory ham and melted Gruyère crowned with a perfectly runny egg that coats each bite in a rich, golden velvet. To wash down these triumphs, one must order the French press coffee, a dark, aromatic brew that arrives in a slow, plunging ritual, delivering a bold, robust punch that commands your full attention and jump-starts any morning debate. While the kitchen operates at a remarkably high standard across the board, a discerning diner must exercise a small measure of tactical restraint when navigating the entrees.
