We stayed here this past weekend - last weekend of May. Got a room for $325 for 2 adults, 1 child. Our stay was wonderful and we would love to come back again. Having said that - sharing everything there is to know before you book. 1. Expensive? Yes but the experience was worth it. This is the best location within the park in our opinion when planning to visit for an extended stay. Situated right at the foot hill of the majestic Mt. Rainier, the location cannot get any better. The night we stayed was also the night the blue moon was supposed to happen - a very special occurrence where 2 full moons happen in the same month and happens rarely across years and we were able to see the moon rise rise all the way to its peak right from our room. It was very beautiful. 2. Yes, the rooms are small and there is no TV (which I loved and have no complaints whatsoever) but parents with kids who absolutely need their TVs - get your own gadgets! Also, the room heaters work so very well - no need to carry extra blankets or layers. The rooms are stocked with additional blankets apart from the comforters on the bed but we didn't need to use them. Rooms are full up to date and personally, we found it very charming. 3. Amazing staff at the front desk. We couldn't get a room facing Mt. Rainier but the front desk was kind enough to switch our room to have a view of the Mt. Totoosh and it was great! We never asked - they upgraded us voluntarily. Also, they are super warm and walk you through everything with timings specifically highlighting closing times. They also offer board games at no extra charge which is amazing. Just check out and return once done. 4. Inn has its own dining lounge with a fine dining menu excellent staff and very nice food. No need to look any further. 5. Inn has its own coffee shop with excellent coffee and breakfast/snack options that stays open till 10pm. There is patio seating outside the cafe to savor your drink/food enjoying the beautiful view of the Mt. Rainier. 6. Inn has a beautiful lobby and gift shop. You can enjoy beautiful piano music live during the morning and afternoon hours. Lots of lounging options by the windows to enjoy the sun. 7. Accessible entrance with minutes from Myrtle Falls, Narada Falls, Reflection Lakes and Christine Falls. In fact the trail to the summit starts right outside the inn. 8. Inn offers parking as well. Definitely worth staying once but obviously book in advance to find affordable rates. read more

Wonderful national park lodge - beautiful inside, rooms in good condition, seemed like they've been updated somewhat recently (much better than Yellowstone or Sequoia for example, where everything looksnandnsmells old, but $500/night because national park - painful) This lodge was gorgeous and the people at reception were so welcoming and wonderful - let us hold the "Here's Johnny" ax lol - just cannot say enough good things about this lodge. Didn't like the dining room, hopefully it was just an off night. Usually food at the lodges is wonderful. The flavor was there, but our dishes sat a while before delivered to our table. Setting aside the price to stay and eat here, Paradise Inn a 3 star. 3.5 stars for Dining Lunch - Enjoyed a draft beer, cheese curds and the chicken club - would get them all again. The rest of the family had the Beecher Mac and Cheese (do not recommend) and the burger (recommend). Service was great and it was a nice to sit down for a meal. Dinner - Enjoyed Burrata and Tomato, which was more like caprese than what 8' used to for burrata. The short rib (off menu, sub for being out of pork shank) was very good. Too much sauce, but if you remove it from the sauce, it's very good. Son had the prime rib, which was good, but a little on the cool side - wish it was warmer. 3 stars for the Inn Parking: Upon arrival, we faced the most challenging crowds and the inn does not have parking for their guests. You are stuck fighting traffic with the masses, which means you might be parking in overflow and moving your car when the crowds die down at night. Amenities: The crowds don't end there. The Inn is flooded with visitors, making amenities unenjoyable (or available) for guests. Room: The room came with a standing fan to use with windows open for AC. There appeared to be AC in the room, but the temperature only went up. The beds were comfortable and we had a private bath, so that was a plus (some rooms share baths). Despite the cost and crowds, it is worth the stay to have early access to the trails and a parking spot, once you find one, for the duration of your trip. read more

We stayed at the Paradise Inn in mid-June 2025. The staff were very friendly, but the restaurant experience was a bit chaotic. The restaurant having many seats, the kitchen seemed only able to support about a third to half of the customers (at least that's what we were told). This meant that even when the dining room appeared empty, we still had to wait 15 minutes for a table and they don't take reservation. The food was a bit overpriced, which we expected, but it tasted pretty good. The small cafe was great for grab-and-go items and coffee, but it was quite understaffed, leading to long wait times. On the positive side, our room was very clean, and the lobby area was cozy with plenty of seating for guests to relax. read more

Our family had a great time at Paradise Inn in July of 2025. We stayed one night. I was reluctant to stay here after all the bad reviews but we had an excellent stay. We arrived on a Thursday at around 9am and found a parking spot right out front. Very lucky, I know. The mountain was foggy and drizzly and we really didn't feel like hiking right away so we got a table in the huge lobby and hunkered down for some board games and good family talk. No one seemed to mind if you brought in your own drinks and food from the car and one family even had an ice chest sitting on the table. We didn't take it that far and tried to be discreet although I enjoyed a few beers. We finally took a walk and then were able to check in at 3pm. We got one of the large rooms with one double bed in one room and two twin beds in a separate room (but same hotel room if that makes sense). It was totally nice and our 20-something daughters got a bit of privacy from us as well with their own room. After tax and fees it was about $480. Ouch. I know that's a lot but we had killer views of the mountain, a nice private bathroom with tub and shower and sinks in each of the bedrooms. No TV which was fine. We had excellent cell service by the way on both ATT and Verizon. The rooms were clean and well taken care of. Remember this isn't the Ritz. Here you pay Luxury prices for rustic accommodations but that's part of the charm!!! We decided to have dinner in the dining room and again, I was expecting it to be awful but it was excellent! The service, atmosphere, and quality of food was really good. They do serve cocktails even though it's not listed on the menu. I got a Manhattan with rye and it was very good. The wine list isn't that great. But I guess you can bring your own bottle for a corkage fee. I read that on another review and wish I would have known. All in all we had a great time. The best part, of course, were the trails and fantastic scenery right out your door. We got up at 530a the second morning and had the trails to ourselves at sunrise. Incredible! I wouldn't stay here every year but I do hope to stay here again sometime. We made some wonderful family memories. Thank you so much! read more

Loved the convenience of staying inside the park and being able to enter after 1300 without park reservations. The historic hotel is charming and I loved the extra seating at the Mezzanine. The rooms are very small, even paying extra for a private bathroom. We didn't hike around paradise since area was still packed with snow. We had dinner in their dining room and the food was meh While I do appreciate the veggie options and ambience. both dishes came out lukewarm. The pasta was not so flavorful. The lodge is lovely. The view of the mountain varied from room to room but it's an encouragement to get out and be active around the settlement and the park. The actual location of the inn is perfect. The lobby has a large sitting area for people to eat, read, play games, or sit by the fire. The rooms are small, but for a historic lodge, they're cozy. I stayed in June where the nights are cool, and the heater did not activate, so the rooms would be chilly in the mornings I'm worried about what it feels like in the winter. My biggest gripe was with the bathrooms, there's no room for storage and housekeeping wasn't very attentive with towel service, so towels would tend to pile up. The sink seemed to have a tankless water heater of some kind, and only let out water that was either freezing cold or scalding hot, no in between, despite having two separate handles. The Inn has two places to get food: the restaurant is pricey, but the entrees were excellent. I had the chicken Marsala, though not traditional, tasted delightful. The burger was also great. The service was quick, despite the mixed reviews here. There is a breakfast buffet for $32 which was fine, but not all of the options were available every day, and the food was just okay. The cafe has snacks, breakfast options, and coffee. These options are also expensive. I understand that the appeal of mountain lodges is more about cozy fires, shelter, and proximity, but there are some things that are to be expected of any hotel, especially given the nightly cost. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. But three stars feels more appropriate than four. read more

Paradise Inn's parking area is a bit tricky due to it sharing the space with their visitors center. We previously purchased a national parks passport, which is a fun way to keep track of park visits, so if you have one then the visitors center has stamps at the desk. Being inside of the park to start our hikes whenever we wanted was wonderful! We spent a weekend enjoying coffee amongst the trees, hiking around Mt. Rainier and cozying up with a book in the great hall. A small cafe serves coffee, tea, pastries, ice creaand packaged snacks until 10pm. The food at their restaurant was better than I expected and priced appropriately for being a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I ordered the bison meatloaf which was delicious. The rooms are small but cozy and waking up amidst the trees can't be beat. Park rangers host event nights and we happened to be visiting during a "night sky" event where they prepared activities and held a trivia game after. All kids who completed the activity received a special patch. This was a fun family getaway. I recommend bringing a board game and hanging out in the great hall after a full day of hiking. read more

The location can't be beat, as it gets you easily onto the trail. And the history of the building is fun. Staff at the front desk are great. Service in the restaurant is okay - there are a lot of younger staff there for the summer. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Food in the restaurant was good... the food could be seasoned better. We found that when we added salt and pepper, meals were better. The prices are a bit high for the quality, but they do have to haul everything in, so there's that. The menu is seasonal, but it doesn't change from day to day, so when you're staying multiple days, it limits options. We preferred our breakfast sandwiches from the cafe to the breakfast buffet (and it was 1/3 of the price). Appreciate the water bottle refill station and that the cafe has such a great selection of items. Wish there was the ability to compost instead of sending good waste, etc, to the landfill. read more

The comments and rating here are pertaining to the lunch dining experience only. Firstly, the dining hall is huge and magnificent, with tables organized in straight rows. Each table has one of four different-colored napkins to represent the native flowers blooming in the area. Very poor maintenance. The first room we got flush system was broken and they gave us another room . In that the shower drain was clogged because the liver was prenatal pushed down and they told us they do not have any Maintance guy so we had to use the public shower area. We are disappointed from this place. This is no we close to the hygiene standards. The main hall of the Inn is a spectacular 1920s National Park lodge. It is a wonderful place to sit and relax, play a board game and enjoy the ambiance by the fire. While there is cell service, no TV or wi-fi. It is incredibly convenient to be able to stay inside the park and be ready for hikes on the mountain and enjoy relaxing at the end of the day but that is where it ends. There is no bar so bring your own soft drinks, wine, beer and glasses. Corkage $20 if you drink it in the dining room but lots of people were drinking in the main hall. We had a queen room 305 with bathroom in the annex, about the size of a small inside cabin on a cruise ship for $300 a night. Bring your own food. After labor day, much of the international staff leaves and the dining room converts to buffet, $37 for dinner and $35 for breakfast. In spite of the dining room being partially empty, the wait for dinner was 20-35 minutes (pager). The dinner buffet was worthy of a retirement home, mixed salad, assorted cheese and fruit, tough dry chicken and salmon, tasteless man-n-cheese and pasta, mashed potatoes, overcooked asparagus and undercooked broccolini. The beef filets were reasonably good and tender but constantly needing a refill. Most of the deserts were okay if they were not gone and awaiting replenishment. The staff was not keeping up the buffet very well and items were constantly empty. Took 15 minutes to get salad dressing refreshed. Most items looked ravaged, like a class of 6th graders had just gone through. Not sure why I left a 10% tip because the only service was to fill water glasses, deliver purchased drinks and clear plates. The staff was working hard but there were just not enough of them. We did not bother with breakfast. It was also a buffet and at $35, would have cost $95 including coffee, tax and tip. One day, we tried the snack bar behind the gift shop and it was just as bad. Nothing cooked to order. All the food was in plastic wrap blown up like a balloon from the change in altitude when it was brought in from sea level. Convenience gas station quality. We had 2 sausage, egg and cheese biscuits, 2 coffees and a cinnamon bun heated in the microwave for $35. Thank goodness we stopped at Subway on the way up and put lunch in a cooler. Bring your own food. Overall, staff was helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was great but plan to start you weight loss diet at the Paradise Inn. read more

Check in was pretty smooth until the man next to us talking to the concierge staff said "we definitely had a mouse last night, which I know is a problem you guys have." A statement quickly followed up with "Also if you bring any food to the room, make sure it's in a sealed container." . To be fair, I grew up in the woods and know mice in this kind of setting is nearly inevitable. We took our keys and up to the room we went. The room was small, but to be expected for the age of the building. We had plenty of towels, blankets, and the beds were comfy. We were excited to see nice robes and complimentary slippers to use for the communal bathroom and showers. We decided to throw them on to go take a shower, to find out one pair was sewn incorrectly and had a large hole. We went downstairs to kindly ask for a new pair, we were initially told someone would bring them to the room, then when they never showed we asked again and they said "oh yea, we looked and we don't have anymore." ... I guess the guests the next day wouldn't have any? We couldn't tell you about food in the dining hall as with the prices, we chose to avoid it. The staff in the cafe and the snacks there were good. The gift shop was also fantastic. All in all I'd say our stay was metaphorically a nice white slipper with a giant hole in the toe. read more

Things have improved!! Not sure what happened at the end of last season, but here in 2023, things are MUCH better! Restaurant: The restaurant is large enough to seat everyone staying at the hotel and then some. The service was impeccable (despite it being opening day), the food DELICIOUS, and the prices actually very reasonable (especially considering one is so remote). The waitstaff were plentiful, friendly, and professional. The view is, of course, also spectacular as is the room itself. There's no way this could be better. Hotel: Top notch in every way, so I have no valid complaints. However, I am one of those that really hates shared bathrooms so this will likely keep me from returning, unfortunately. That said, I knew that going in, and it was incredible to be able to just walk out the room and go right up the mountain. I'm sure it's a sacrifice other people will not mind giving =) read more

Great location and arguably the best meal I've had in a national park. The prices are high but you're paying for the location and historic Paradise Inn ambience. My wife and I both had the burger and then followed up with a mixed berry pie and chocolate cake. The food was above average but I understand why some people complain about the value. Service was good but it seemed as if they were understaffed during the busy dinner rush. Would definitely eat here again but wouldn't do so more than once per trip to the park. Beautiful rustic Inn and lodge next to the Paradise visitor center of Mt. Rainier national park. Went in here for quick food and rest rooms, stayed an hour for the views and the hospitality. Food was great, though overpriced as expected for a remote lodge. Enjoyed the almond croissant and the chocolate doughnuts. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. For a good hour long visit, suggest waiting at the lobby and outside areas with the Adirondack style seating with views of the mountains and glaciers. Beautiful 100 year old historic old lodge, nestled in the middle of snowcapped mountains, with views of Mount Rainier. We made reservations well in advance, even booked dinner at the lodge. There is a café opened from 6 in the morning until 9 o'clock in the evening awesome looking cakes nice grab and go meals. Room 318 is lovely, it's not fancy it's rustic charming and very comfortable. There's no TV, Wi-Fi nor air conditioning. We have lots of extra warm blankets, I guess we're expecting cool evenings. We have a key to our room, I haven't held the key in a while. The Lodge has a lot of comfortable sitting areas. There's even a self-guided tour to the historic furniture. It looks like a large wood cabin in beautiful Washington greens blending in with the landscape. Lots of rocking chairs in front and a large patio with tables to enjoy wine in the evening. I really enjoyed seeing all of the old black-and-white photographs of the lodge back in time. There's a gift shop with trinkets, T-shirts, postcards, magnets ... This review is for the breakfast buffet: For 35$ per person I would expect much more than just a continental style buffet. We asked if the chef can make us a vegi omelet. After 10 minutes waiting the server came back and said NO. He can only do scramble egg ( really!). We had to make a waffle and couple french toast. They had tofu muschroom scramble which did not taste good. I only ate the mushrooms and kept the rest. Picture below. Get a better chef who can accommodate simple requests. Got here yesterday 9/12/2025. After we checked in and got to our rooms, we found out there was no water!! This meant no showers, no toilet, nothing that required water!!! We had no where to go so we spent the night. They did offer discounts, but our stay was not pleasant at all!! No one told us there was going to be no water at the hotel ahead of time. We were floored when the bill came and for 4 of us to eat ( two of us used a small plate cause weren't hungry) and it was for $138! That's a lot of money for breakfast! Would not recommend!! This is an updated review of the restaurant, which is one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. A previous recent review was spot on - all of which I agree with. It's an utter, complete rip-off. Extremely overpriced food that is lower quality than a school cafeteria. Paper plates, plastic utensils, no waitstaff, and food that obviously came out of cans. I spent over $100 on a family of 4 for a meal and I am super bummed about it. And that saddest part is that the dining room has SUCH huge potential. I really hope they get a new vendor soon. I am a national park junkie and have visited almost all of the parks, but I must say that I am very very impressed with this lodge. The location is absolutely perfect, surrounded by snow capped mountains and located next to the visitor center and great trails - perfect! The staff is excellent, David the manager went out of his way to help us get settled. We ate in the main dining room both nights and had the world's best waitress - Hank! She was super accommodating and very personable and friendly. It's been a very special stay and we really hate to leave tomorrow. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw our room. It was absolutely beautiful newly renovated, clean room at the end of 4th floor. Beautifully arranged white, soft towels like in a 5 star hotel. Lodge lobby offers nice big table for visitors to enjoy on a cold night to eat or play games. There was a man cleaning them after each guest. The only thing i would suggest is to vacuum hallways as well. Highly recommend. read more

This is regarding the restaurant at the Paradise Inn. Our stay at the hotel was lovely and I will absolutely come back. I refuse to let a terrible dining experience ruin a nice, relaxing hotel stay. We waited about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday evening in August. Not terrible, but maybe slightly odd because the restaurant was less than half full. Once we were seated, we sat there 15 minutes before anyone stopped by, brought water or introduced themselves. I actually had to go to the hostess and ask for some water. Once the waiter came, we placed orders for two burgers. One medium rare with everything on it and the second medium well with no pickles. We waited a reasonable 18 minutes for food. When we cut into our burgers, which were labeled correctly, we realized they'd cooked them backwards. I would normally just switch, but I detest pickles and they were right on the patty, and for a $28 burger I don't want to suffer through pickles. It took another 10+ minutes to get the waiters attention (he actually stopped because he realized no one had ever brought the side of mayo I asked for) and his first reaction to our little situation was to offer to take our burgers in the back and take the pickles off my husband's, put them on mine and switch them for us. I politely asked for them to be remade as we hadn't eaten any of them. About 15 minutes later our new burgers came. Mine was underdone, but edible. My husband's was legitimately raw. He took one bite and it was barely even warm it was cooked so little. We ate our fries while we waited to get his attention again. When I finally flagged him down and asked for our checks because my husband's burger was not edible, he didn't even apologize and brought us a check with both burgers on it. Not only have I never sent food back in my life, but I have certainly never asked for food to be taken off of a check. I asked to speak to a manager and a very kind woman came over, listened to our situation and offered to fix the check. She also apologized. I appreciate the way the manager handled it, but we left hungry and having lost almost two hours of our one night at Paradise. I hope to return to the Paradise Inn, but I will never return to the restaurant and I'm thankful I packed our pre-hiking breakfast in my cooler for tomorrow. read more

The dining room is historic and wait staff was great but the food was the worst ever. If you want to have the experience of dining here and supporting the wait staff- stick to the salads. All dinner portions were very small without any sides. The kitchen is not able to deliver a decent cooked Entree- chicken was raw, salmon had bones and was fishy tasting, risotto was just sticky rice- No seasonings on anything and very overpriced. Even the deserts- the berry pie- were freezer burned with ice crystals. However, the Tatoosh Cafe did deliver great coffee in the morning and the bakery and prepackaged sandwiches were well sourced. We went last week to Paradise Inn, the front desk manager "Demetri" was rude and disrespectful to my wife. Actually made a pass at me, and told me all women suck. Worst place to go on Mt Rainier, i would definitely not recommend it to anyone. Heard the GM, I think her name is Maria, calling a Latino worker racist remarks, and cursing at her. This place is a joke, the food in the dining room was terrible very expensive. I cannot honestly say one good thing and I am a very positive person, but enough is enough! We smelled marijuana all throughout the hotel and heard employees yelling near the kitchen back lot all night parting and smoking weed. We could see from our hotel window and the GM was out there smoking with them before she got in a truck and left. I complained to one of the front desk workers and they said it's just the way it is around here stating she would be happy as she is leaving soon too. read more

This is the most conveniently located lodging option. Of course, this means it is not cheap ($300/night over memorial weekend), but I think it's worth it to not wait in the entrance line more than once (which takes hours, even with the new reservation system). The rooms are small, but it's an old building with limited upgrades, so it is to be expected. Keep in mind, there are no elevators (as far as I could tell) so I recommend packing light). The sink is next to the bed instead of the bathroom, which is unusual, but not the end of the world. The building is kept warm. The room is warm when you enter and there is an extra thick soft blanket, which is fantastic. I stayed in 107, which had a great view from its two windows. The walls are a bit thin so the quiet hours from 11-7 are reasonable. The inn has a restaurant with a limited menu. It's not cheap, but it's convenient considering you don't have to leave. There is also a cafe that has grab and go food items, as well as alcoholic drinks. The gift shop has some really nice merchandise too. I would happily return. read more
