This is my first time going to this location. I love going to the Point Loma location and had a great nail tech there. But I decided to give this place a try! I am a nail snob! I like things done a certain way, and I like to have a good experience from the salon. I got seated with TRACY! I let her know I wanted a fun summer color. I settled with a gel polish, and actually changed my mind to a color acrylic powder. She suggested an awesome color! And she proceeded to do a new set on me. I got a long set with coffin shape, and orange-y salmon acrylic powder. She NAILED the shape! And I constantly praised her on it. I explained to her that I prefer acrylic powder over gel because gel polish bulks your nail and doesn't look so SHARP when you have coffin nails. A little less defined in my opinion. She understood and was a great nail tech! She fixed any application issues and built a sturdy set. the apex was nice and thick on my nails yet keeping a thin nail shape. So hopefully my nails will be sure to last! I recommend TRACY and will be returning for a fill. On other notes, the sanitation is 10/10! The salon is nice. I was so hot and she let me have the fan on me haha! The only downside of the salon is the emotionless receptionist. But she isn't doing my nails, so I'll be back! read more

If you wanna be turned away, this is the place to go. Twice my daughter and I have been turned away from this place. The first time was pre-covid and we showed up an hour before they closed. They told us they were closing soon so couldn't take us. I didn't know a spa pedi takes over an hour?! This was in 2019, haven't been there since. Then today, we thought we'd give them another chance. Bad idea! We walked in an hour and 30 minutes before they closed and they looked at the clock and said they can't take us. Only one person was sitting waiting. Go to any other place in La Mesa and they'll take you if you're 20 minutes before closing. They obviously don't need the business, go to the other nail places in La Mesa. They're so much more accommodating and welcoming, and they want your business! read more

The worst experience I've ever had in my life as far as going to a nail salon.... I went to get my pedicure done was noticing how incredibly rude the employees were not just one not just two but three. After they trim my nails before they were going to start a scrub they use this metal device and tried to scrape away at my heel I told him it was very painful and that I thought that tool had been outlawed she were laughing and continued on, I told them they were causing me so much pain that I didn't want that type of a service, The girl flew out of her chair and started to complain about me not wanting to be in pain, The other girls looked at me and started their laughing comments I told the girl up front that this is not right and I will need to leave this is not what I expected and never will I ever be treated like this..... I can't believe what a terrible experience this was, I hope nobody has to deal with this, I also look them up on BBB and the better Business bureau does have a report on them for illegal activity. Don't go here. The color samples must be 40 years old, or as I suspect, completely mislabeled. I got a dip manicure that was supposed to be a pale pink neutral and it ended up being neon purple. When I asked the lady she said it was old and must have faded, and charged me $10 to fix it by putting gel on top. I then got a gel pedicure, and clarified with a different lady before that the sample was somewhat representative of the color I would get. She assured me that it would be, and then the same thing happened again. What was supposed to be a neutral turned out to be a bright pink. I don't know what's going on here but it's kind of laughable. Color aside, the pedicure was good. The good news is that they're located next to a cvs, so it's super convenient to buy the acetone you'll need after. read more

I believed that I had found a new nail salon. The first two times that I came here, I was quite satisfied and tipped accordingly. However, I made an appointment on Friday for a Saturday appointment...all good. I get there and there were quite a few people walking in before me. I wasn't concerned because I had an appointment. When I finally get to the desk, I sign in and inform them of my name and that I had a 10:30am appointment. I was told to pick a color. I did. But I also watched as several "walk-ins" were ushered to chairs. I just looked at the person behind the desk. Finally, she told me to have a seat at the first station. I sat there 15 minutes before someone came and told me to move to the last station. Okay. The person proceeds to do my nails but tells me I can't have the polish the way I requested but she'd do it a different way. No biggie it was nice. Now comes the pedicure. I wanted the same polish. I was informed it wasn't available unless I used the gel. Mind you, I took extra time selecting the polish that was supposed to "match". Bottom line, got the pedicure and after polishing the toes they requested payment. Again, no problem. I paid, tipped and proceeded to wait for the polish to dry as they have no nail dryers. The problem is they asked me to leave because they needed the chair! My belief is my appointment is not over with wet nails. I was miffed, but left anyway. On Monday, New Year's Day, my nail is broken...after less than two days!!! This is unacceptable! Now I'm out of town and can't even go back to get it repaired!!! I expected better service and better customer service. I guess I'm on the hunt for a new nail salon again . read more

Was a walk in, showed them a picture of what I wanted, they said they had time and could do the design in the picture. The entire service was very rushed, not relaxing at all. First red flag was not a pair of gloved hands in sight. I don't know if the massage chair I was sat in was working or not because they didn't offer to turn it on or even hand me the remote, they just shoved a pillow behind my back and slapped one in my lap, laying towels here and there and barely giving me a moment to settle myself and my belongings in. Second red flag was that the manicurist did not treat my fingers with any semblance of care, stabbing at them with the cuticle pusher then cutting my cuticles on two separate fingers, causing them to bleed. The arm and leg massages were very rushed, so much so that the manicurist didn't even give me a chance to remove my bracelet and rings, just slathered the lotion and exfoliator on over them. At least the woman doing my pedicure had more delicate hands and didn't hurt my toes. Once the majority of the mani-pedi was done they told me that they couldn't do the design I wanted and would have to do stickers instead. I was a bit pissed but just went along with it cause they were practically done, only to find that the stickers were cartoony and childish, they were slapped on without a second thought and my nails were finished before I even had a chance to relax. On my way to the parking lot I notice paraffin wax still flecked around my ankles and lotion/exfoliator streaks on the backs of my arms. Once home I noticed that the gel on my nails had already started to peel up ( I did gel on my nails cause I was told it would last longer), and it appeared the topcoat was forgotten on my right toes (which were just normal polish). So I'm trying to use some clear polish at home to fix it until my next manicure. I'm not even going in for a refund because I'm afraid they'll want to try and fix it instead of returning my money, and I don't want these people near my nails ever again. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

I'm pretty sure the pedi I ordered came with at least a cursory filing of the heels, but it didn't, so my heels are still rough after my pedi, which has never happened to me before. For the mani, they put a kind of old stained pillow in my lap with a towel on it. Then they put a bowl of soaking liquid for my right hand on it (my manicurist was on my left). Part of my New Years resolutions was to stop chewing on my nails. I have been doing it pretty much all my life so I figured 28 years was enough. I stopped in here after work to get a spa mani pedi. I figured the best way to kick this resolution off was to get a professional job to clean everything up. This was a real good experience. The girls were very friendly and welcoming. I don't care what your sexual orientation is. It can be very uncomfortable for a dude to roll into a nail shop and have their nails cleaned up. They did a very good job here and weren't super annoying with the upsales. I respect that just about any place is going to offer you up sales, but this place made a couple suggestions and left it at that. I went here yesterday because I was in the neighborhood. I had never been here before. This place is ok. My nails came out nice, the salon is clean and they had a lot of colors to chose from. I'm giving 3 stars for 2 reasons: 1. The "massage" for both my manicure and pedicure were about 5 seconds long with literally no pressure used at all. 2. I was charged $10 more than what I figured the price should be based off of their service sheet, which I assume was to due to removal of the gel manicure I had on when I got there. Typically everywhere I go waives that fee if I'm getting another gel manicure, but not this place. I honestly wouldn't go back. $60 for a spa pedicure with callus removal and a gel manicure is about $5 more than I pay at my usual spot, and my usual spot has friendly nail technicians that actually give a 10 minute massage. read more

This salon has the best hours you can find in a salon, they are even open on Sundays and if you go in closer to closing time they're usually more than welcome to take you in, and do a great job! If you try out the salon I recommend Vicky for your mani pedi because she always does a great job on mine! She's super friendly and she takes her time no matter what so that it always looks nice! She's also really great at picking out your colors too if you aren't sure what you want! The price at this salon is really low, making it all the more better! Great service for a great price! My gel manicure was absolutely horrible (I will attach photos) - completely uneven color on my nails, she used 4+ layers of the gel polish and the polish is already lifting off my nails and I haven't had the manicure for even a week. It pains me to write this review. If I could give the workers 5 start, I would. I give the mature woman behind the counter ZERO stars. Three generations of my family have been coming here for 10+ years, and this woman makes me want to find a new shop every single time...and this time I will. The definition of "appointment" escapes her understanding. She also doesn't understand the concept of customer service. She routinely double books and customers are forced to wait 20-30 mins for their "appointment". She does not value anyone's time or schedule. When you call her on it, she will talk over you and say you didn't understand her. Nope. I understood you perfectly when you said if I wanted a pedicure before my gel fill I would need to come in 30 mins early for a 3:30 appointment. Get there and she informs me I can't be seen until 4 (my original gel fill appointment time). I wish I could say this was the first time it happened...more like the 3rd time this year and we're only in March. Did I mention that she refused owner contact info when I stated I wanted to make a complaint? Classy place they're running here! I go here to get my eyebrows done and I thought their nails would be just as beautiful as the way they do brows and with all the amazing reviews and pictures, I just decided, why not. I wanted a simple Oval shaped Gel manicure as Im trying to let my nails grow. My nails after the appointment was over was not at all what I expected. The gel was applied thick and very sloppily, it feels like I have paint on my nails., They're so heavy. A couple of weeks ago I got my nails done elsewhere and it was awful. The gal wasn't very nice and the nails looked awful. I needed to find a new place and I'm new to the area and I've seen Paradise Nails a few times so I gave it a shot. Danny did my fill and he fixed my nails as best as he could. He was very nice and his work was great. At one point I accidentally moved my hand and the drill hit my skin and he stopped right away and was so apologetic, but I told him it was my fault and not to worry. He fixed the shape of my nails and tried to make the lengths match. They look beautiful. The prices are very reasonable and they all seemed nice in there. I don't even know where to start but at the end my polish was on my skin and my toe nails were cut funny . I asked for just a regular pedicure . Most salons if you ask or are offered callus remover it's extra 5 bucks . After looking at my heels one foot i said i think i should do callus remover ivy sighed and goes you said just regular i said sorry i didn't know you could add it she looked visibly annoyed so i said don't worry about it but could you scrub my heel a little more she did and that helped a lot so i realized she didn't scrub my feet good . After paying for the 3 pedicures and manicures before the technician was able to finish my nails, as she mentioned she didn't want to mess up my nails.. she never came back to paint or finished my nails. Kind of a disappointment as after waiting 15 minutes and not see her coming back I told the main administrator to see what happens. She tries to get the attention of technician and I keep waiting for other 20 minutes but she never come back from her break.
