Interesting fact, the sand is that way from granite deposits that flow from North GA and beyond all the way down into the Gulf as silt. Because of the beaches, the area attracts more and more tourist every year and IMO is getting more luxurious as the years go by. I've noticed better restaurants, more aesthetically pleasing looking buildings and just a more upscale feel with each visit. I'm writing this here because I noticed many of the beaches along the 6 mile coast are PRIVATE. I'm not sure which beach to actually post this review but I find that simply horrible, ridiculous, backwards and restrictive! Who adds gates with Codes to a beach?!?! I can understand a handful of properties and major resorts but to secure majority of the coastline with Controlled Access? In my particular visit I stayed at a resort and had the codes for entry/exit but found many people having difficulty simply getting to the beach! I don't think they knew the beaches would have controlled Access! Even to exit, you need a code! That's shameful! It was frustrating to see people struggle with umbrellas/coolers and chairs only to have to find the Public Beach and have to walk back to their car. May I add the city also doesn't have any form of boardwalk to enjoy a long walk down the coast or some form of transportation to maneuver the public/private beaches! You're basically on your own! I'm curious Who/When/How that got approved because that's definitely some backwards N. Florida, My Property, ME, ME, ME planning! I'm not a resident but I believe some things on this planet are public and Imo a beach is one of them! Plus their has to be better ways to protect and maintain these beaches than blocking them off from the general public. Any who, for anybody planning a Trip to Destin, Please do your homework! Visit the website below which has hyperlinks for all the beaches which explains access points/fees/sizes of the beach and more details. I'll also attach a picture which shows a few of the main Public Beaches. It does appear the largest beach is Henderson Beach with1.22 miles of shoreline. Seems like the general "Dump the masses" area. The others are significantly smaller! smh. Any who I hope this helps! One Last detail, We had many umbrellas and chairs however this was literally the 1st beach that didn't have Umbrellas for sale on the beach. "Super"Captain Shay as we call him is an amazing Captain! We really wanted to see dolphins, so he had recommended leaving in the morning so we would have the best chance at seeing dolphins, and boy was he right! After we got thru the no wake zone, we saw dolphins right away! It was amazing watching them swim with the wake of the boats, spring out of the water, and just come up for air. Then we went snorkeling for sand dollars, we didn't know this was even a thing you could do, but "Super" Captain Shay knows all the fun spots! We had a blast snorkeling, everyone found a sand dollar, my daughter even found a sea slug and my son saw a huge crab! After the snorkeling fun, we went looking for spinner sharks, and we found a group of them! It was so cool to see sharks, out in the wild just doing their thing. Next we went to Crab Island, man did the kids have a blast...they didn't want to leave! To end the day the kids went tubing in the bay, the looks on their faces when they were on the tube was priceless! Anyways, if you want a trip to remember and the friendliest Captain around you need to go with Shay, he is the best!!!! We can't wait to book another day of fun with him! read more

This was my second year in Florida. Last year, my family and I went on the Sea Blaster. Although that was fun, it was hot, a lot of people, and they had no food. This year my family decided to rent out a private boat just for ourselves and it was the best day ever! Captain Shay was very nice. He provided us with water and he even let us play our own music. He took us around the ocean and we found a lot of dolphins! We even saw a couple of sharks. Captain Shay, my sister, and I went in the water to find some sand dollars. We found a couple but it was so fun to dive in! Then he took us to Crab Island where we got out and had fun for a hour on the obstacle course. Once we were done he took us to go get food. I also had a little headache and he offered to stop and get some advil which was so nice of him! Once we got our food he took us out so we could go tubing. While we were tubing he took out his drone and took some videos and pictures of us. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this boat ride! You'll have a lot of fun and the money we spent was worth it! read more

If you're looking for your captain to be arrested during your experience, you've come to the right place. After showing up 45 minutes late and without our second pontoon, it was immediately clear Captain Shay was already under the influence. We had to charter a boat from a second company and finally embarked for Crab Island at 3:30 (original time was 1:30). 5 minutes into the ride and Captain Shay was getting pulled over. He was ultimately arrested for BUI (see Ocaloosa County case 22-MM-1233, People v Terrell S. Breed for proof) and for illegally chartering a boat with more than 6 passengers. Our friends were detained by Ocaloosa County and the Coast Guard until 5:30 but were thankfully able to join us. It was a completely surreal event but shoutout to Crab Island Jimmy's Charters for absolutely saving our day. Based on this arrest and the horror stories we heard from others at Crab Island and the marina, I hope Captain Shay gets the help he needs and I hope others heed to this warning. read more

This was my experience with the customer service by Capt. Shay which was in short nothing short of outstanding. It was my second visit to Destin and we wanted to visit Crab Island for the kids to play on the inflatables. I booked through Paradise pontoon due to the awesome yelp reviews and everything was great..Quick response time, very knowledgeable and helpful with best times and locations to go. As fate would have it one of the kids got sick last minute and we had to tend to her and could not make it. Capt Shay was extremely understanding, of note he is also one of the very few operators that does not require a deposit which made it a bit easier for an otherwise stressful last minute change on our part. We were all very sad we did not make it out again..but we will absolutely only use Capt Shay and Paradise Pontoon for our next trip out and will also recommend him to all our friends, he's earned my trust for future outings! read more

I am an avid Destin vacationer turned local and have been renting boats and jetski's for the past 6 years....let me just say this was the BEST experience I've ever had renting. The best customer service, the best prices hands down, and brand new super fast skis!! They also have clean bathrooms to change in and a beach there if you wanna relax after or while you're waiting for your experience-My mom is also in a wheelchair and they are able to accommodate her for boat rentals which is a huge thing for me, they earn my respect for including people like my mom in the fun of being on the water! I'll be renting a boat within the next week to get back out on the water and this is the only place I'll go from here on out! Thanks Shay and the rest of your awesome staff! read more

Capt. Shay is awesome! The nicest guy in Destin. If you really want someone that really cares you have enjoyable time in Destin on the water, then book with him. His experience on the water is second to none. Actually meet him while he was anchored on crab island. He gave us tips on where to see the stingrays gathering. He did not want anything in return other than making sure we had a good time on the water. I usually rent my own pontoon boat but after meeting Capt Shay his knowledge where the action is happening would be worth the price of a charter. I will book with him next time in Destin. read more

DO NOT BOOK CAPTIAN SHAY (BREED) we paid for our trip, got to our destination, and then was pulled over by the police. The police told him that he was not allowed to be out there and he was told yesterday of this! Once the cops left he refused to give us our money back! We had to call the cops back to the boat before things got physical! He is not allowed on crab Island! Not to mention we waited over an hour and a half for him to pick us up! He has multiple arrest charges. How is he still able to book charters through this company! You better Paradise Pontoon! read more

His business location is his house address. Very sketchy neighborhood. Dude came out of his front door barely awake, zipper open with his dick hanging out. Booked a reservation with this guy on his website, showed up at his front door for our pontoon trip and he acted and claimed that he never saw our reservation. DO NOT do business with this guy. Update Owner Shay Breed has refunded the 150 that was put down at 1 am this morning I did a google search of Shay and found out that he is a convicted felon with his last stint in prison being 2016 his first being in the late 80s. Hopefully he has turned his life around. A quick google search of his name and Destin Florida gave me this information. I will be contacting authorities to make sure it is ok to operate a commercial vessel transporting customers and will update the review. read more

Wife and 3 kids (12, 10, 8) and I had a great morning with Capt Shay touring Crab Island and the bay. It was a smooth-riding trip where we saw no less than 20 dolphins just doing their thing in the wild. We saw plenty of full breeches and a pod of 5 swim right under the boat in the clear shallow water. Overall a great day, it lasted from 8:30-1:30 and Shay took some family pictures of us at Crab Island and showed up where the 1% live! Would definitely recommend! read more

We were scheduled for a 9am trip, and we got done around 11 - didn't end up getting on the boat until probably 10. Not a bog deal, but don't schedule anything too tightly around your trip...

We went up with a family, they made sure everyone was great every second! They gave us directions and info to other attraction on water like fishing while we were in town. Very great hospitality, will be my first stop when I go back!

We rented for a special occasion ! This was our 4th time renting from beach weekend ! It was our…read morefriends sons graduation trip and this was supposed to be best day of the 6 day stay with us on emerald coast . I speak highly of beach weekend because the kids working the docks are always so nice and accommodating . But this time we waited 20 mins with our dolley cart loaded while everyone working inflated floats for customers and walked around ...... we were just about to say something then someone walked up to give my hubs the boat walk through . This time we didn't get a boat with the complimentary huge cooler . It was a smaller boat . Too late to switch but ask for that one if you can because it's nice transferring everything to there big cooler and not have 5/7 yetis on one pontoon . This trip the boat we rented broke down 1/2 way to crab ..... it delayed us over an hour waiting for new boat . We swam around where we were parked and chilled. Totally fine and happy waiting in gorgeous clear water off oakaloosa . When they came to replace it we had to unload current boats bags and coolers for 10 people to new boat . Not bad but kinda added more time to find where everyone's stuff was after we quickly moved . We were kinda annoyed he said we could have an extra 30 mins added to our trip . We told him we were delayed over an hour so he said 1 hour passed our time scheduled to return ...... It's likely we will rent from them again in July because of all the great experiences we've had in the passed . They do military discounts and it's pretty reasonably priced . Plus they drive the boat out and in the marina for you...... I would have been happy if they gave us more then an additional hour that we missed or a discount on the next rental ..... we got there at 10:30am . 30 mins before our check in time . But we legit didn't get to crab till after 1 between waiting to load then the boat beeping and stalling out 1/2 way there .

I'm giving it 2 stars due…read moreto it being easy to book, comparable in prices to other companies doing the same thing, and every employee we encountered was nice & friendly. The reasons it wasn't 5 stars was mainly due to the equipment you get. The boat is your typical double decker pontoon boat with a 115 on it. The problem was that the propeller was so worn out that we weren't able to drive it like we should have. Took almost an hour to get to crab island from their dock. We were getting passed by all sorts of boats with the same & smaller motors like we weren't even moving. To make it worse, they don't have speakers on the boats and suggest you rent their TurtleBox speaker. No problem right? We spent $50 to rent it only for it to die in less than 2 hours. We called back to the receptionist to let them know about our issues. After a little time they said they would refund us 50% of what we paid plus take off the $75 Lilly Pad rental. About 2 hours later I got an email saying that I was refunded a little over $181. So they felt refunding $181 out of our $1362 bill was going to be okay. Wouldn't recommend this company, bring your own boat or use someone else.

We rented the boat with a slide and trampoline, and chase helped us stay safe while letting us enjoy ourselves. We are already planning our next trip back and this boat is one of the first things to be booked. Make sure to pack lots of beverages and an awesome Playlist.

The people in the phone…read morewere super helpful and the gentleman at the dock was awesome and very thorough on his instructions so it was all quite seamless. We were so fortunate that we were able to rent BRAND NEW pontoons! They had a fleet of brand new boats that were just spotless! We had a great time, the price was right, and the product was great. We easily fit a group of ten on our pontoon. A few suggestions: pack a lunch, bring beer, bring cash, bring some cameras, bring some dry bags (there are some dry compartments on the pontoons), hold on to your hats or turn your baseball caps backwards, use common sense, have fun!
