This is usually my go to place for chicken pho. Located on first and McKinley in what is dubbed "The Pho District". However I went on Halloween night and the recipe has somehow changed. What was once so flavorful is now giving heavier hints of ginger. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious but not like it was. I hope it wasn't a change in recipe or cooks. The service was very good this time , I do take out, so I usually just pay and go however the person ringing me up was so nice and chatted with me. Hit the spot and open late. Needed the recovery after a long weekend. Not the best, but you can't beat the time frames for late night needs. Water is infrequent, no vegetarian options if that's what you're looking for. We had gotten a steak pho, roast duck pho, and egg rolls cuz something fried. Compatriot enjoyed the steak pho, the roast duck was a bit oily and mostly bone as opposed to meat for the pieces. A little chewy as well for what was there. The egg rolls were nice and crunchy when they came out. Good for what it is, and here fits the bill for certain situations. Went there last night for the first time. We had a group of 5 adults and 4 children. The service was not good, and the orders were not all correct. Couple/Children near us , left after no service came. Poor service, will not go again. Loud drinking groups, not good for Children. Tip: Should not put Tables outside, unless there are people to service them. read more

The food here was great and so was the service. The ambiance not so great. It is clean and decorated but from the outside it looks like a place you probably would not want to eat at. There is plenty of seating inside. I think this place is really known for their pho. I was craving Pho after a hard long shift, I get off pretty late and this place opens till 11pm so ... It was right up my alley. I ordered the #3 combo, service was fast and friendly, broth was tasty everything was perfect except my pho didn't include tendon, so I asked them to include it, I didn't know that it would cost me an extra $7.50 (yikes) anyways, I ended up eating a 20 dollar small pho that night and even though $$ pricey it was delicious. My recommendation from now on is ask how much for add-ons before you order them lol. Spring roll - good, tender shrimp, no mint leaves, chewy rice paper and pho noodles, some of the greens in it looked wilted though Regular combination pho - huge portion, lasted me 2 meals. Seems like a large to me, not sure how ppl finish the large bowl. Soup is on the greasy side. I asked for no cilantro but there was still cilantro in it. This place is off McKinley and is near my work downtown. There are a few pho places around the area, but this one is my favorite. I decided to visit this place again during covid (take out) for a bowl of their pho. I ordered a rare steak small bowl of pho with a chicken bahn mi. Although it is a size small, the bowl of soup is very large. A small bowl of soup is under $8. You will receive a box of noodles and thin slices of rare meat in a box. The broth is PIPING hot. Like scalding hot. Like, if you were being assaulted, you could throw this container of broth on them and it would badly burn them and scare them away hot. So you put your meat and noodles in the broth and the meat cooks up and the noodles soften. Keep in mind if you add ALL of the meat and noodles, it may overflow or, at best, the soup will be at the very tip top of the container. So, its best to go in easy with the noodles. For take out, you are also provided with a bag full of goodies. In the bag, you will receive limes, basil, sprouts, hot sauce, soy sauce and jalapenos. I add all of the above to my soup. The bahn mi is $5 and it is really good. It is a pretty big sandwich, so usually my husband and I will split one sandwich and each have a bowl of pho. The sandwich comes with thinly sliced cucumber and carrots. The bread is very crusty and flaky. This place is pretty active during lunch, so I would suggest to call ahead of time to place your order. Also, there is a small bench outside if you want outdoor seating, however, I would suggest to just eat your soup or bahn mi elsewhere. I usually go to NHO it was New Year's Day and it was closed so I tried paradise for a second time . It was super busy so I was very patient . I ordered a large 01 . There was Bearly any meat in there . they didn't bring sides to go with it . I had to walk up to register to get the bean sprouts . I also didn't get a drink either so I had to ask for that too along with a spoon. I also asked for some hot oil . Which I never received. And too top it off I had cock roach crawling up the wall literally right next to me . I do not recommend. The sever here lacks hospitality. No refill on drinks instead you'll have to flag them down. They lady that brought out our piping hot pho, instead of taking her time to place the pho on our table, she asked me to hurry up & help her grab the hot bowl of phos from her large serving platter. I've been coming here for years & this was the first time that I had ever encountered this. Normally at pho restaurants or any other restaurants in general, the servers will NOT ask customers to grab their food from the servers trays. I looked around & the restaurant was half empty so idk what her rush was about. Baffled I said "okay" & proceed to grab the pho bowls. I want the restaurant to train staffs because if a customer was to accidentally spill hot liquids, the restaurant can be liable. This place is so weird. This place is my go to for Pho. I generally have the Paradise special. The broth is so flavorful and there is a sufficient amount of protein that they add to it. I've tried their egg rolls and those are tasty as well. Sometimes the concern with egg rolls is that they may be too greasy, but not my experience with Paradise. With all the cold weather my buddy has been crazing pho and we have come here during our lunch break several times now. It is my vote for the best pho location downtown. I would not want to be here at night however, I know it's called paradise but I think gangstas paradise is better description for the neighborhood. Even at 11 am on weekday the place is almost 3/4 full. Their broth is excellent and they have among the best pricing for all their dishes. This is even more important at a cash only place. Like all pho places here there is no service, wave at anyone for attention, they are pleasant about it. Egg rolls are great as well with a nice crunch and not soaked in oil. The spring rolls are just ok however, shrimp portions are too tiny. My only negative comment is the quality of meat here especially tendon and tripe is decent but not the best compared to some of their competition up north. read more

This is not your traditional pho. Very watered down broth that lacked flavor and tasted like it was made out of powder. The people in there all very kind, but unfortunately it doesn't make up for the lack of cleanliness in the establishment. I haven't been to this place over 5 years ago. They have much updated since. They can now use (debit) cards and to serve pickle jalapeño condiments and a jar of shrimp paste. I came in for a quick bite of bahn mi and it look like the ham slice is the American kind. Still I didn't mind it because it was good. Pho is always delicious which ever is order and price is reasonable. The negative star goes to the server. She didn't seem very kind.
