I went to my Ace Hardware store for the very first time just to mail a package. The reviews on Google Maps weren't great, but it was the closest and I wanted to see for my self. I went in with my Yorkie in tow. They have a pet friendly sign in the window which I really liked. I walked to the back of the store to mail my package and the woman in the postal center was very friendly. We said hello and she asked me if I wanted a receipt. I had brought my dog's car seat with me to ask for help in replacing the hook that was way to large. Stopped at Customer Service and wasn't expecting much help. To my surprise the lady at the counter was wonderful. She smiled and was very friendly. I asked her where I could find a smaller hook like the one in the car seat. She not only didn't tell me but walked to the back of the store and brought a couple for me to check out. I chose the one that I thought would work and she "installed" it for me. WOW! Not friendly at all. I came in with a backpack on because I drove a motorcycle to mail a coat so it was in the backpack. I wasn't even shopping at Ace. I was immediately asked to leave the backpack at the front door and I explained I was trying to mail something and I was on a motorcycle. After I stood in line for 20 min and it wasn't moving at all I walked out of the store and again was harassed for walking out with my backpack on. Rude ass people. As soon as i walked in, one of the girls greeted me with a smile and asked if i needed help. It turns out they will rent out uhauls but cant receive them. My phone had died, i didnt have a charger in the rented uhaul, and i didnt know how to get to the other uhaul center, so Elliott, the floor manager, printed out directions for me. He also walked out to my uhaul to address an issue i was having w it and put my mind at ease. Overall great, fast, efficient customer service. read more

I went into Ace Hardware to get a pool for my daughter's dog who we are babysitting for this holiday weekend. I saw the prices and wanted to fall over . Alex showed me a plastic pool that was under $20.00 , the ones I was looking at were over $50.00 and up., not only did Alex save me quite a bit of money, he put it into my car, how refreshing ! BUYER BE AWARE! Bought a diverter for the bath tub. Only took the L wrench out to see if it was the proper fit for the old one that was installed. Old diverter was to old to remove. So tried to return the one I had just bought at ARTIE'S Ace Hardware. They told me that I could not return it cause it had been used. I assured them that it had never been used in any shape or form. They told me that their guys checked it and I could not get my money back. They showed me a smug on the O ring of the female part of the diverter. Which I said they must of sold it to me that way. They told they check every return and item. They do not make a mistake. I asked for the Manager. She assured me that it had been used. Again I let them know that the assembly had never been placed. The L wrench was the only thing removed from the packing. Which I returned in the original packing. After several minutes of trying to convince them; they offers me store credit. I asked to talk with Artie but he was not in at that moment. I asked for his number, which they offered but they never wrote it down or gave a business card with the information. I will personally never return to buy at this Ace Hardware. I've been a loyal customer of Ace Hardware store since a child. This have now left me with a very bad taste. I got our artificial Christmas tree out of the crawl space where it had been since last December and found that the plastic stand was warped and twisted so much that the tree couldn't stand. My First Thought was Artie's where I have shopped for decades. Artie and wonderful Brian went far, far above and beyond in helping choose, adjust and perfect a new strong metal stand (for Half Price!) Was visiting a friend in AZ (am from Orange County, CA) and happened to stop here to get dish soap because I noticed my friends house was out. Was pleasantly surprised by the selection which included several non-toxic brands (JR Watkins, Mrs. Meyers, etc) as well as your typical Dawn etc. Everything was reasonably priced and all the staff was very friendly. When checking out, two customers followed behind me creating a line. Immediately, another staff member opened another checkout register to get rid of the line. Highly recommend! read more

I found what i was looking for and i am very happy about it but i thought it is especially important to make mention of the extraordinary service that i recieved from Andrea. I had been searching throughout the valley for a paticular cooler. Color, size and style was very important to me. Andrea was the one to pick up the phone. She listened and showed great interest in my needs. she was cordial, easy to talk to and went above and beyond in searching and communicating what i needed to know to make an informed decision. A return is when you get your money back. That didn't happen. The the original pieces and packaging was put back together for the return. The kind lady at the checkout was about to process it until you rudely stopped it and snapped that it was not going to happen. You handed me my receipt that my toddler ate in the car. I love the store and selection of products but the staff are very rude. The man behind the key counter is the absolute worst. I called today to check on a screen order and the person who answered the phone scolded me for calling because, "everyone is calling at the same time" he then abruptly put me on hold for 5 minutes then came back on the line only to tell me that it "will take a very long time" to look up my order by my name because, " there are a lot of screen orders back there". I went to Home Depot on July 3rd, upon checkout a woman ( I believe her name was Barb, older with multi color hair) casually gretted me and directed me to self checkout after I requested assisted checkout. I then asked if they could apply a military discount, she then sighed heavily and asked if I had it in my phone. I stated that I did not and that I had my military ID card, at this she rolled her eyes ( quite excessively) sighed again and turned her back to me. At this point I stated to her not to worry about the discount as it appeared to be too much of burden to her and the store. At this point she smiled at her coworker and walked away. She then made a point to follow me to the door and quite sarcastically with a cooked head told me to have a good day. I would recommend to anyone to go a few miles further to Lowes, they are much more polite and respectful. read more

Just moved into the neighborhood a couple of months ago, and was glad to find this gem of a hardware store. I had an issue with the lock on our front door. I took the lock apart to take it in to get replacement parts. I asked Dani at the key station for help finding the right parts, and she ended spending an unusual amount of time helping me with cleaning out the pins, rebuilding the cylinder, and committed to helping until we got it working. Since then, this has been my go to place. They tend to be very friendly and helpful. As with any store, you're not likely to find a friendly employee 100% of the time, but that's to be expected when you are dealing with human beings. Everyone has their own personal situations going on, and sometimes they are just trying to make it through a horrible day. Sometimes a smile and thank you is all it takes to change a situation. read more

Absolutely terrible experience at the PV Ace Hardware. Went to talk to their "workers" about a can of paint we had recently bought. We truthfully waited around 10 minutes at the paint counter and finally pressed the button to receive help, so already off to a bad start. Then the two very young employees proceeded to BERATE my girlfriend and I about how the can of paint (which was used ONCE the day before) wasn't sealed properly so our kitchen door being two different colors was now our fault and their was nothing they could do to help. I know what the store policy is about paint, but teach your younger and newer employees a little about customer service in difficult situations. Not pleased with this store at all and only came here because I'm they carry Benjamin Moore. I'll certainly find a different Ace Hardware to visit from now on. Thanks. This was the most customer friendly hardware store that I have ever used. The staff and the owner himself helped me and went above and beyond to get my outdoor heater which I had purchased there 4 years ago to get working again. They all were so friendly and knowledgeable! Most of the staff was either not wearing a mask, or leaving their nose out. When I asked the employee why they weren't wearing one, the manager got upset and told me that they were wearing "face coverings", and that it was perfectly fine that way. What they were wearing was a tiny Transparent plastic shield that covered their mouth and nose. This shield was resting on their chin and when they spoke, the tiny thing moved with their mouth and therefore uncovered their nose. I can't believe that they went thru so much trouble to probe their costumers how they don't care about their health. They must have search the web up and down until they found the most pathetic "face covering" To stay open while show complete disregard for others. My family were frequent costumers. Not ever again. I've lived in the area for 20 years. I was just reading the disparity in reviews on this website. You have the praise from people that are obvious mgmt & marketing people and the disappointment from the customers. A handful of employees are helpful. Most seem to go out of their way to seem busy or just ignore you. Just the other night, four of them standing at the key counter not even noticing customers waiting with questions, until they broke the huddle leaving one poor soul to try and help, while the others scattered. I'm sure I heard one of them say "serpentine" as he wandered off. Never buy something you might have to return. Just don't do it. Not sure if it is the right size, color or fit. Do not buy it. The return policy is horrid. Unless I need 3 bolts and a screw, I go to Home Depot or another Ace. read more

Just tried to order an item online to pick up at this store. For some reason it would not go through, so I tried calling the store to see if it was actually in stock. Was put on hold when another person picked it up, and was quite curt. He asked what I was looking for and I told him. He then asked for a SKU #. I apologized and said I did not have it. He snorted and got very snippy. I told him I did not appreciate the way he was talking to me, and HE HUNG UP ON ME. I tried calling back to speak to the manager, and was left on hold for TEN MINUTES with no pick up. There is no way in hell I will EVER enter this store if that is the,way they treat people. Ugh. I really dislike this store. The service is slow and they are always understaffed. Nobody could help me this morning and i was looking for assistance. Then i finally get what i think i need and i head to check out. they had some woman right in front of me returning about 30-35 small sprinkler items and as the checkout line is backing up because the return is taking FOREVER... the other staff are not helping. They open another checkout and help everyone behind me... so I eventually have to leave because after standing at checkout for 13 minutes, I'm running late. I don't like to post negative reviews. I tried finding an email address for a manager but no luck. I'm not out to kill anyone's business; small business owners work hard and deserve to succeed. I will take this down if someone appropriate sees this. In this day and age why do brick and mortar stores still exist? They can't compete on price with Walmart or Amazon. The answers are of course convenience and customer service. This Ace Hardware has been spotty for both (in my experience) over the last 5 years. The store is crowded, almost claustrophobic the aisles are so narrow and deep. And they have been in a constant state of renovation the entire time I have been coming in, making navigation tricky. And a lot of the items are in locked cabinets. These aren't faults; the former lets them pack in more stuff and the latter keeps losses down. But these things mean you're probably going to need help navigating and help with your items. And there's the rub. The store is crawling with employees but my experience has been mostly meh. Most of the time I feel invisible. Today I spent 20 minutes in the hardware section, ultimately concluding they don't have what I needed; meanwhile I listened to two different pairs of employees loudly gossiping about one of their coworkers. Yes I could have interrupted them or flagged someone down, but after a while it kind of became an experiment to see how long they would ignore a customer who is obviously struggling. Other visits have been similar; as many employees as a store with a much bigger footprint but kinda hard to find anyone to help you. To be fair I have gotten good help some of the times I have come in. And for hardware and replacement parts their selection is usually better than the big box stores. A message for Artie if he's listening: your business is at risk. It doesn't matter how many millions you have sunk into your inventory if your customers can't find what they need. I shouldn't have to be a regular that you "know like family" to get good customer service. If you are relying on folks who aren't comfortable shopping online as your customer base, that is a dwindling population. This store could great. Right now it's disappointing. read more

Awful customer service from everybody there (including the post office people). Very rude, inconsiderate, and unhelpful. The prices are not good. It is a pain to return anything here. We live just a few blocks away, so it is unfortunate that we can no longer go to this store. However, after numerous visits (we kept trying to give them more 'second' chances), we have come to the conclusion that it is just better to go to Home Depot a couple miles away. Our advice is to go to Home Depot just two miles up the road at Tatum and Bell. The prices are better, the customer service is friendly, and the return policy is great! read more

Save yourself time, aggravation and money - just go somewhere else. I have lived near this hardware store for 10 years, and rarely go. When I do go, most of the time I regret it. When I do go in, it's because of something in the sales flyer. Yet almost every time, they don't have it or if they do have it, it's not clearly labeled and it takes 20 minutes to find it. I started going again, because I was getting ACE potting soil as I started container gardening this year (I'm very new to it). My friend told me to get potting mix, when I asked an employee if the stuff they had labeled "ACE potting soil" was the same as potting mix, I was told yes. So I bought several bags of it. They are NOT the same thing, not by a mile. My plants are struggling to survive, and now I am facing the fact that I have to replant them (and spend more money on actual potting mix). In addition - my last (and final trip ever) I went in because they are having a Buy One Get On Sale, and I needed some landscape / weeding fabric. I walked around that store in circles for 20 minutes looking for it before I even saw an employee to ask. He did show me where the item was located, but they only had one roll in. He said I could buy that one now, and come back later to get the other when it was in stock. Seriously? Um no - that's not what the deal is. I asked if I could get a rain check (a reasonable request). He went on to repeat what he said before, that I could buy the one roll now and come back for the other. I asked again if I could get a rain check, he then asked another employee and after some minor discussion they said that's something Jewel needs to answer. We found Jewel, I asked if I could get a raincheck. She said I could buy the fabric now and come back for the other item. She then said that was the same thing as a raincheck. Huh? Um no it is not. She said I could pay for it now and pick up later - and again repeated that was the same thing as getting a raincheck. I told her flat out that is not the same thing as a raincheck. She finally said - well we don't do rainchecks. So it took 3 employees and a 10+ minute conversation between them to finally get a solid answer to the question, "Can I have a rain check?". So after spending just over half an hour in the store - I walked out empty handed. The folks at this Ace, while nice, have no concept of customer service what so ever. None. They also do not seem to have any concept of time nor the ability to correctly answer questions asked of them. By contrast - right after leaving Ace after the rain check fiasco - I went to the True Value near 12th Street & Northern (they had a good sale on other items I needed). I have never been to that store. The minute I walked in, I was asked if I needed help. Not only did they have what I needed and the stuff from the flyer was in stock, they helped me load it into my car. I was in and out (with car loaded) in 15 minutes. read more
