I ordered a new Weber Gas Grill to be delivered for the holidays and it was delayed no fault of Artie's Ace Hardware. It was an issue with Weber. They stayed in contact with me constantly but above and beyond that they actually lent me a grill so my wife and I could have one to use during the holidays while family was in town visiting. Who does that? Nobody else. From store management to even the owner, they are truly interested in pleasing customers and when my new grill arrived they came and installed in on time and expertly. Today I tried to exchange a yeti cooler bag that I received as a gift at your store located at 13811 N Tatum Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. The manager "Danielle" was very unprofessional and disrespectful towards me. She said several disrespectful comments towards me and refused to exchange my cooler bag. Ace Hardware return policy states that you can get a Ace gift car. Apparently the manager doesn't know or understand the policy. I will Never return to this store and will let everyone I know not to shop at this Ace hardware! read more

Was at Artie's to get some drywall anchors and saw they had propane patio heaters on sale. The flyers on ALL the heaters said "up to 50%" off. The guy showing me around said most of them were 50% off. I picked one out, $266, and they went to get the heater. I was wondering what the discount would be. Ten percent would have been insulting. The guy came back with the heater. I asked what the discount would be figuring I'd taker it if it was at least 25% since the flyer indicated "up to 50%." The guy called whomever they call on those walkie-talkies. The discount was 0% off. Way to go Artie! Truth in advertising/merchandising? From now on, I just buy drywall anchors from Artie's Ace. Yeah, they have a lot of stuff on the often disorganized shelves, and it's easier than going to Home Depot, but this just pissed me off. read more

Don't let the crammed full o' stuff atmosphere scare you off. They have EVERYTHING and I mean everything here. And they will help you find it if you can't. The quality of their products overall is better than Home Depot. Either my husband or I are there a minimum of once a week. Sometime you have to cajole the counter help to be helpful, but that doesn't deter my 5-stars. They really know their stuff and have gone out of their way to help us get just what we need to get the job done. I love this store! Yes, it has a lot of stuff, but when you're LOOKING for that stuff... you've hit the jackpot! I have ALWAYS found the staff to be very friendly and helpful with any project or questions that I've had. It just has that homey neighborhood feel that you don't get from Home Depot or Lowes... and the parking is always fantastic. Please read all of the negative reviews before coming here; I wish I did. I purchased a traeger grill from here on a Thursday after seeing they had some in stock, and the grill was then delivered the following Saturday morning. When the grill was dropped off, I did not inspect as I had to leave, but the following morning I noticed the whole back side of the grill was dented in substantially, and the hooks on the bottom were bent as well. After calling the store and telling them this was unacceptable for a $1,300 grill, they agreed to send a worker to my house and replace with another new traeger and pick the first one up. After the worker noticed that I poured wood pellets into the hopper on the first grill, he called a lady named Andrea, and told her the grill was used. Andrea then called me, was extremely rude, and told me they would need both grills back and I would have to come in tomorrow morning and discuss with the manager on why I could not receive a new grill that I paid for and was not damaged. I was blamed for using the grill (which I didn't) as well as damaging it on my own. The grill was only moved from their delivery driver and was clearly damaged in the truck during delivery. Andrea then proceeded to yell at me, make extremely rude comments, and make many threats. Andrea also mentioned the delivery driver was not certain what was going on as "I'm not surprised he's confused, he barely speaks any English". You are a customer service associate at an Ace Hardware, know your role. I ended up telling the delivery driver he needed to leave my property and take the damaged Traeger back to Ace. For spending $1,300 not even three days ago, this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Andrea and a store manager whom I spoke with should not be working in a customer service or management position whatsoever. Do not go here and whatever you do, do not purchase a traeger or any grill from here. I will be calling Traeger and any upper management/executives necessary at ace, and giving them details on the purchase experience at this Ace, and will not stop until Andrea and management is held accountable for how I was treated and management makes a change and realizes the customer is always the priority. UPDATE: Just plugged in the replacement grill, and the LCD display is completely pixelated and not working properly. The model number is also a previous model # that did not come with the pellet sensor which the model I purchase does come with. I am confident Andrea just replaced my damaged grill with the display model. This place is absolutely unbelievable. Can't wait to talk to the GM in the morning. read more

What a wonderful modern day general store; a one-stop shop of sorts! Festive holiday decorations abound, they were in the middle of setting up for Christmas when I arrived so I can't wait to return and see everything displayed! Very friendly customer service and dog friendly too! If anyone reading this review has a gift they need to purchase for someone, a gift certificate here would be a unique choice because they seem to have something for everyone; I noticed some unique products I've not seen anywhere else. Hardware stores are all alike, right? Wrong. While the two big-box hardware megastores are physically huge, they have a lot of wasted space and very little depth of inventory. It seems every time I visit one of them with something specific in mind I have to settle for second best or they don't have it at all. Arties is like the Santa's workshop of hardware stores. While physically much smaller than any of the big box stores it is packed to the rafters with "stuff". It seems no matter how specific my needs are, when I go to Arties they say "sure we have that, follow me". Not long ago I needed a simple washer for an outside faucet. The faucet is permanently welded to the pipe behind the stucco and would be virtually impossible to replace but a new washer would make it like new. The big box stores told me I could not buy the part or even the entire inner workings, I would have to replace the whole faucet. When I went to Arties they said sure and went to a magic bin filled with washers of all sizes and picked the exact right one out for me. Plus they had a new screw for it that was an exact replacement. Yesterday I decided I needed to replace the shower knob and temperature handle with something more substantial than the cheap plastic ones the big box stores sell (where they told me there are no other options for my brand of faucet). I went to Arties and found both components in a heavy-duty grade of metal with real chrome plating, constructed 10,000% better than the cheap plastic variety. And the price was reasonable. I swear Arties has everything for everything. And the people who work there actually know hardware. Okay, why do I keep calling it Arties? Because while it is an Ace Hardware store, it is that in name only. Artie Holm runs a completely independent store. And that is the only negative I can find with them ... if you go in with an Ace Hardware discount ad they will usually refuse to honor it and they seem to get a little grumpy that you asked. Maybe they could just post a big sign at the door that they don't honor Ace discount ads? I've stopped even trying. Arties also sells small appliances, kitchen tools, knick-knacks, seasonal items, and a ton of other stuff. And judging by the number of customers I would bet a lot of locals depend on them. Yes, as others have noted their prices are slightly higher, but I will gladly pay a little more for higher quality merchandise, professional and knowledgeable staff and to support a local neighborhood business hold its own against the big box chain stores. read more

The store is convenient and its small enough that you can get in and out of there quickly IF you know where the item you want is located. The layout is so random and the aisles are REALLY narrow. Well this is an interesting little store. The first thing I thought about when I first walked into the place was how this was a serious fire hazard. I mean everything is so tight and items are extremely close together. I mean the aisles.....the people.....check out counters.....merchandise.....everything is just right on top of you. If your claustrophobic this may not be a good place for you to visit. I came here to buy a couple of items during black Friday and I was royally screwed on the mail in rebate program. Arties is just great. I love having a smaller, privately owned hardware store close to where I live. They have done a terrific job of making sure that they have most or all of the basics that anyone would want from a hardware store. Then im always drawn to the excellent merchandising for other things that make grest gifts or a little something for yourself! Kudos to whomever does the buying for Arties because these features about the store is what makes it great and definitely worth starting out with before going to the big box stores because chances are, you will find your part, bolt, small appliance or great tools right there. Simple in, items at great prices, no overload on selections. Also Arties is always staffed to the max. Help usually greets you right at the door and escorts to right to where you need to be...complete with good to great knowledge of the products. Sure sometimes I want tons of choices or sonething I know Arties doesnt carry, but 90% of the time, I just shoot into a privately owned, local business owners store who employs a good number of people...and get out fast. But when im not in a hurry, I DO like to browse...I always find plenty of cool items and have a pleasnt time being there. read more

We used to frequent this store, and some staff members there are good people; however, today they have a political tent set up in the parking lot selling t-shirts. When a call was placed to inquire whether or not this was sanctioned, it was met with hostility and defensiveness. The intent of the call was for us to determine whether or not we wanted to continue to do business at this store as we cannot support any establishment who supports the current administration. The response from the person on the phone made that decision really simple. If you are in support of changes come November, I wouldn't shop at the store. Poor selection on most products EXCEPT nuts and bolts. They have that going for them so I give them 2 stars. My Dad works for a different Ace and every time I walk someone greets me and asks if they can help. This store is much closer to me so I went there today. I go to Ace because I expect that they are always so helpful without me having to ask. This was not the case today. I called beforehand to check to see if they had all the things I needed. When I got to the store, no one greeted me, and I couldn't find the person I spoke to on the phone even after pushing the "need assistance" button in his department. The entire Time i was there wandering the store I only saw one employee helping customers. I passed a few employees multiple times and they never asked if they could help me with anything. One employee was having a personal conversation on her phone. Sure, I could've asked these people for help, but i go to Ace cuz I never have to. I bummed at the lack of helpfulness. I interviewed with Artie Holm (owner) and Deanna Daugherty (store manager) on Saturday March 25 for a part time position (I am retired). I believe the interview went well and I was told by the store manager I would hear the next day (Sunday). Sunday passed with no contact. Monday I called and left a message for either Deanna or Artie to call me and let me know if it was go or not. No return call. Tuesday I called and sent an email. No response to either. Today, Wednesday, I called and was told that Deanna was with customers and Artie was not there, and left my third phone message. I was in management levels for 52 years and would never not return a message or leave an interview hanging. Don't expect much from the employees. I called to see if they could make a key and I was told that they had my key type it in stock and the price, then when I went in they in fact did not have the key. The employee just wasted my time by having me drive over to get that information which I should've been told over the phone. Also don't expect them to hang up the phone when talking to you and don't expect them to make your key when they're near the end of a shift, since the first day I called I was told not to come because she was about to be leaving.
