I have been my mother's caregiver for 13 years since her dementia diagnosis. This was identified as Alzheimer's four years ago when she began living with me full time. I spent several years looking for a long term facility for her because I didn't want to be caught off guard if something happened and she needed placed. I didn't want this important decision made in haste. After visiting more than a dozen facilities in the valley I selected Pacifica. I tell you the background because I have read several reviews not all good about the facility and I feel it's important give perspective. In addition to my research and visiting the facilities around the valley, my father was in three different facilities before he passed. What I have learned and I believe families should be aware is no place is going to feel perfect. No place is going to be as good as your loved one with normal health or brain function and living in their own home. So it's important to look for a partner in your care. I am beyond grateful that I found Pacifica. Although it's only 4 min from my house I would not have known about it without Care Patrol who let me know they had Alzheimer's cottages. From the first visit I felt heard, understood and respected. When we have had what I call "growing pains" them learning my mom, them learning my expectations and me learning their abilities and goals for mom, the executive director and departmental directors have had their doors wide open. When there have been challenges there has been a very lovely word - "yes" that they use in order to make sure we find a way to make the situation better. I love that my mom still has dignity and privacy in the cottage. I love that the little things to make her room a home have been met with a yes. I think the cottage based system should be the future for Alzheimer's. I have not seen a cognition based system implemented as well as it is here. My mom is very high functioning and so are the peers in her cottage. But I have the peace of mind knowing when she does need more help or loses her ability to communicate etc that there is a place for her on the same property in another cottage. Paradise Valley Senior living purposely with intention prays upon the elderly and their families along with exploiting state agencies and government funding programs. They simply are the modern day Equivalent to Bonnie and Clyde. The revolving door of operation directors is nothing more than a cat and mouse game. THEY AVOID THE RESIDENTS in hopes they can get away with the ROBBERY. They incorrectly bill residents and purposely initiate incorrect and invalid service invoicing. They only employ degenerate thieves without morals or ethics that they can control and manipulate like puppets. The most recent three week old abortion of a Area Director is Erin Matteson. (623-810-2927) She is the new thief on the block who methodically and accurately with intention misappropriates funds and inaccurately bills residents on purpose. I honestly believe her motive is to escalate the false billing to a collection status and receive $$ kick backs $$ on the in house collection effort. A very recent case through Maricopa County courts in June 2026 indicate a possible salary$ with an incentive based commission on money collected and revenue generated. there is no other fair and reasonable explanation how they can maliciously incorrectly invoice their residents with Double billing, bogus fees, invalid late fees, false surcharges etc. it's 100% illegal to do what they attempt to accomplish and they should be criminally charged and prosecuted. Stealing is against the law and just because Erin doesn't wear a ski mask and use a gun doesn't make it legal. Erin Matteson should be incarcerated for her crimes using a pen and computer. read more

At the time of the first tour,which was very hectic & rushed. The rooms looked good, but please, please EVERYONE do not be deceived. My husband walked in to this place, stayed for 5 months & $45,000.00 later he was asked to leave. The rooms are filthy, some of the staff med techs are down right mean & abusive! I understand his diagnosis, but the Director there does nothing to increase staff or even help with tough situations. He knows many other associates in this Business of so called Care & they are truly out there to just collect a big fat salary. With that being said, please do your research!! My husband cannot walk or talk. He can't feed himself, it is very heart breaking Due to Pacifica my husband was in the Hospital for 3 weeks, he is now still receiving care to be stabilized from this nightmare. Rarely do I give reviews (good or bad) Unfortunately I am compelled to do this in hopes of future residents thinking of this Facility. Prayers to all who are in this type of situation read more

I was a business manager at the community for 10 months. lt is a beautiful community and amazing residents. I learned alot that has helped me succeed in my adventure now. I had alot of laughs and smiles with the residents and families. I met with some amazing families the time I was there that made me love being in the healthcare field making a difference. Overall not bad place at all just could use some grace when comes to certain things. I was so happy they took a chance on me that had me learn so much that now makes me one good business manager. The community is amazing to with its different set up compared to the rest of the communities to make it so unique. I do miss the community, residents, and staff. I recommend to go take a tour and give the community a chance. read more

My friend Norma died recently. At Pacifica, where she lived until two months of her death, I would have to say positive things. As a whole, the staff took care of the residents. The people they hired as a whole showed personal consideration for the residents. The activities available where terrific for people suffering from Alzheimers. It is a real plus that they were finding a new director. The previous I don't think had what it took to have that position. Nice person, just overwhelmed? Now I have to say something about these people that I don't appreciate at all. My friend, Norma, actually died in a rehabilitation facility. She never returned to Pacifica. She died two in the morning tuesday, May 28th. I spent the last 72 hours with her. At nine the same morning, I called Pacifica to find out if I could get a few prorated days into June so I'd have a few days just to deal with everything involved with a loved ones death. They said they couldn't do that, corporate policy. If everything wasn't out by the 31st they would charge Norma's estate another $4000 plus. I ended up spending from 2 pm that afternoon until 8:30 pm, that day getting things ready for the movers which could do it only the next day as a persona favor. To say Norma's death was awful for me, having to pack up her things the same day... If you put someone at Pacifica, if that person passes on their eventually, hope they die at in the early ro middle of the month. The company has no heart if it is at the end of the month. I am not saying this is not a good place for a loved one. Just be forewarned. read more

From the outside, looked nice. I have a friend of over 35 years trapped in there with zero allowances of visitors and the staff lies saying she is " out ". Her personal rights seem to have been eliminated for financial purposes. Which is EVERY time me or other family members call, similar responses. I was also helping elderly relocate and they wanted me to look at a few places in PV and Scottsdale for them. Pacifica was one due to it conveniently being located next to Abrazo Hospital if there were any emergencies but could not get past the staff without some scary conversations with them! This is a very money motivated business. Not caring at all. When I signed in to see my friend, I was blocked saying she is not accepting visitors and she has a restricted list of visitors that can see her! I was shocked and felt the need to contact my clients to notify them on how this "care facility" treated me as a visitor/guest/showing. It felt illegal and very shady. Laura Luxenberg was the manager that was in charge of this. I was talking to my client on my phone in the parking lot before approaching to drive away in my car. (Strict no cell phone laws while driving, so I was being a responsible driver) While Laura approached me with her "security" person to have me escorted off property and threatened me that they would call the police otherwise! I was shocked! Told me I was not allowed on their property?! I have a witness to this reaction of Laura and her security person. I am an innocent upstanding bystander that had every right to be there. For multiple reasons in fact. I am very saddened for my lifelong friend that can not have her human rights, right in the center of PV/Phoenix area, along with all her financials that her deceased husband ( July 2022) had left HER for her care. I wish and hope Adult Protective Services gets her a state attorney to help her with her rights. This is inhumane. Scary nightmare that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Tori & her Pacific staff were wonderful & so supportive & caring. My Dad was in a horrible rehab facility, and it was apparent he would die there uncared for and in pain. Pacific and Americare Hospice worked to help us bring Dad to Pacifica for respite & hospice care in early August. They made his last days comfortable. Finally my Mother, who had not seen him for a month, could spend time with him. I will always be grateful to this kind staff. Their new assisted living is a beautiful and manageable size - I hope I can convince my Mother to move there. read more

1. Missing wedding ring w/police report filed. 2. Communication between staff and patients' family could have been better. 3. I was diagnosed with scabies by a dermatologist shortly after my mother's death. I lost 2 days of work and spent hundreds of dollars in medicine. There were no notices posted until weeks after her death. Some of the staff was friendly and truly cared. But these are some of the issues I experienced within the year of my mom taking residence. read more

My grandmother lived at Pacifica until she recently passed away and the staff and administration truly care about the residents. I feel like the staff are extended family. My nana received the best care surrounded by people that loved her. I would recommend Pacifica to anyone looking for a memory care community. read more

My mother became a resident of Pacifica Senior Living in December, 2012.. From the marketing staff Kristi to the nursing staff, Andrea, to the director Annette, they are all wonderful. Very caring, aware of my emotional state and my mother's physical state. So very helpful and understanding. The entire staff is kind and knowledgeable. I must say from the start I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. The grounds are kept in a good condition so it is pleasant for the residents to go outside and exercise and relax on the covered porch areas. The transition was as easy as possible. This is a difficult time in my life and my mother's. This facility has made it as easy as possible. The entire staff is considerate of all the residents and they are treated with respect and kindness. All of my mother's needs are met with professional and sensitive caregivers. read more
