She lives in the memory care unit; you have to have a password to use the elevator to get to her floor. I forgot to mention, they have a tablet that you use to check in- you enter your phone number and then it asks if you're seeing your person. It takes your picture, then it prints out a label. You have to use it to check out too, security is important. I went to their Thanksgiving buffet, everyone went to the first floor and got their food. The whole dinning room was open, so family could come visit their loved ones.

In fact, I have lobbied with the state to have the director jailed over his neglect of his residents resulting in injury. I had little hope that I would ever find an assisted living facility for my mom that truly cared about her and would treat her with the respect she has earned living on the planet for ninety years. I was so wrong! Avista Senior Living at North Mountain is not only a Godsend, but a miracle as well. I just spent the past three days there fixing up my mom's apartment and was able to meet most of the staff during that time. The facility Director, Amy, sincerely cares about every resident and seems to know all their names. The Marketing Director, Rob, has been there for my mom in ways that warm my heart. He personally went to her old facility to pick her up and bring her to Avista. He has gone above and beyond the norm to make sure she has everything she needs to call her new apartment, "home", which she now does with enthusiasm. I ate the same meals that the residents do and was equally impressed. The food is actually good, it's nutritious, and the portions are large. Everyone there from the Director to housekeeping, to maintenance, to food service, sincerely love their jobs and the people they serve. Pop into the lobby any morning and see the smiles on the residents' faces as they mingle together and listen to the vintage Juke Box. After extensive research, and as an award-winning journalist, I can confirm without a doubt that Avista Senior Living at North Mountain is the JEWEL of the Valley! If you are not happy with where your loved one currently lives, I highly recommend that you call Rob and schedule an appointment today. You will be impressed, and your loved one will be blessed!

Though my parent enjoys it at the Manor, I've been concerned about continuous increases in the rent and fees, especially the latest increase of just shy of 15%! This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. The Manor seems to have also lost several good and caring employees that we really liked. I'm starting to get concerned about the trends I've been witnessing. I hope these trends don't continue.

We were looking for a facility where more eyes would be on her and she could get Care if she needed it. We toured many independent/assisted living facilities in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. We want to give a special shout out to the following employees who have made my mom's move such a success. Wesley, Lisa, JoAnna, Medhia, & Abria.
