Super bummed about this place. We just moved here a few weeks ago and have been driving out to One Loudon for drinks so I was super excited when I found this place on Yelp just up the road. When we got here on a Sunday at 7:30pm it wasn't crowded whatsoever but it was cute and the drink menu looked good and they were open til 10, so we bellied up to the bar after letting the hostess know that's where we would be. Then...crickets... At least 3 people working there, 1 I think was the bartender came up, looked at us, and then walked away. We decided to give it 5 more mins because I've been in the industry forever and know things happen, and I kid you not 5 people working there stood in the doorway of the kitchen staring at us and then talking amongst themselves. What's a girl to do when craving grilled meat and an outdoor dining experience when her deck has just been demolished - head out to eat of course! It was a beautiful night - great temperatures and not a cloud in the sky. Parallel Wine Bistro was not our first choice this evening, but the other restaurant we stopped at first would not accommodate outdoor dining due to inclement weather. Hmmmm....looked outside - blue skies, no clouds AND a group of people devouring food at an outdoor table. Hostess' response - "Oh they aren't supposed to be out there". Ok - no seats in the bar area, lackluster service from hostess so off we go to Parallel Wine Bistro. We arrive at Parallel and no one is seated outside. I start to think we are doomed to an indoor dining experience after all, but when we ask the friendly hostess if we can sit outside. her response is "Sure, but the cushions may be damp, let's check". Cushions are dry so we grab a high top and settle in. Meagan comes out to greet us and take our drink order. We start with a sparkling margarita made with Patron silver. It was refreshing and didn't taste overly strong. My husband ordered the Bistro Burger with duck fat fries. The burger was cooked medium, smothered in cheese and topped with grilled portabella and onion. The duck fat fries were some of the best fries I have ever tasted - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and seasoned just right. The dish came with three dipping sauces; house made ketchup, chipotle aioli and bistro sauce. My favorite with the fries was the chipotle aioli. I ordered a hangar steak medium rare with crispy smoked cheddar grits. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. It also came with three dipping sauces; chipotle aioli which I found too salty with the steak, bistro sauce and blue cheese sauce. I am not a fan of blue cheese, but the flavor of this sauce was not overwhelming and perfectly complemented the steak. Surprisingly, the blue cheese sauce was my favorite. The crispy smoked cheese grits were just ok. I thought they lacked flavor compared to the steak and lost a bit of crispiness because they were served under the steak. Meagan was a doll, friendly and personable. Service was great and she checked on us numerous times although we were the only patrons seated outside. Kudos to Parallel for not only providing great food and service, but accommodating our request to dine outside. Next time I am ordering the burger....or anything else that is served with those delicious duck fat fries! read more

Quite impressive. We were a large group and I was impressed at how well Audrey took care of all the details and presented herself with smile and patience . Made it a very pleasant experience! Now the chef ( sorry for forgetting his name ) - the one who cooks the indian menu - he was very pleasant as well and spent time attending to individual guests and was very warm and friendly. He treated our crowd as if we were at his home .. checking on us , making sure flavors were good enough for us .. temperature of the food was right to enjoy the flavors. Was a wonderful experience! I like the atmosphere of Parallel more than I like the food. Went on a Saturday night and my group was able to get a table on the outdoor patio, they had a one man show with a singer playing an acoustic guitar, while he wasn't great he was good enough to provide nice background while you enjoy your meal. They also allow smoking on their outdoor patio which sucks because I hate smokers but such is life. Service was good, the bartender was friendly, she was always there to ask if you need a refill on your drink but wasn't constantly in your face, at the end of the night she recognized there were two couples and had all the orders on the right bill and even split the shared dishes evenly. I was able to try the maple walnut crusted salmon with blue cheese risotto. The salmon was good, cooked nicely, the sweetness of the syrup really brought of a nice flavor in the salmon. It was an excellent kicker without dominating the salmon itself. Blue cheese is not a good risotto mix however, while the risotto was cooked well, the flavor was off putting to me as blue cheese is good for dipping chicken wings but should not be in risotto. I do like their flight options because it is create your own for 12 bucks you can try three different wines of your choice in your flight, as they have a rather extensive wine list, this could make for some excellent combinations, I unfortunately missed on my combination but that was user error and nothing to do with the restaurant. Decent spot for Ashburn and I would recommend if you want to sit out on a patio on a nice day with a glass of wine and just relax. read more

Tried this place out for the 1st time today & never again - the service was so terrible & she did absolutely nothing to correct it. Sat at 2:45ish, our food order after drinks got forgotten about & it took her over 30 minutes to notice our app didn't come out..fried green tomatoes really? No cream or sugar (mentioned that when I ordered) for coffee then when she eventually did bring it & offered to bring more coffee, forgot that too. We ordered our entrees @ the same time as the app & it was so obvious she forgot to ever put ANY of in the system cuz she came back to say "what were your orders again?" over 30 minutes later. A burger & steak frites both medium. We've both been in the industry recently & would've understood had she explained/apologized AT ALL & maybe idk comp'd our app? But she was avoiding our 2 top table cuz 3 other tables around us were getting attentive service from her & food on time No explanation or apology. I even said something about wait time to the food runner who brought our entrees & still not manager or even her came by to explain. This place is great! We were seated right away (we had a reservation), our server was very friendly, and the food was excellent. We loved all the dishes we got (deviled eggs, cheese dip, slap yo mamma chicken sandwich, and the butter chicken). The BUTTER CHICKEN is soooo flipping good. A must try. Parallel Wine Bistro was AMAZING for our wedding. We decided on food trucks and I was very specific about wanting all black trucks with amazing food and got exactly that with Parallel. The food was amazing, and guests kept coming up to us saying it was the best wedding food they ever had. Also they were great about having food pre-prepped so that the lines never got too crazy. I just want to start by saying holy crap bloody marys. My family and I went here for brunch over Labor Day weekend mainly because the bloody mary's on yelp looked amazing compared to the other places. They were even better then I expected. But honestly how could you go wrong with a perfectly seasoned bloody mary that had a miniature burger on it?! As for the rest of the meal we chose to each order individual dishes rather then sharing and doing the tapas style. I got the grilled cheese with apple, pickled onions, and brie. I'm not a huge fan of brie but I love pickled onions so the combination sounded interesting. Sadly I was a little disappointed. The pickled onions were basically tasteless and pickled onions usually have a lot of flavor. Everything else about the sandwich was fine but I probably wouldn't order it again. Everyone else seemed pleased with their meals as well. I don't think anyone was overly impressed but everyone enjoyed it. As for the environment itself, I think that was one of the best parts about this place. The outdoor patio is super cute. I think it would be a great place to hang out with friends after work or on the weekends if I lived even remotely near the area. They were playing a country playlist the entire time with some really great song choices on it. read more

We came here to meet a friend, however they never showed up...but that's another story. Very small spot with very casual atmosphere. Unpretentious spot to enjoy wine, food, live music and company. I won't be reviewing any of the drinks because I came here pregnant, SAD FACE. Anyhow, they don't take reservations unless you are a member. BUT you can call ahead, which we did about 45min in advance. When we showed up we still had to wait about 10-15 min which is fine considering the place was packed and it was a busy Friday night. We showed up at 6:00PM, our call ahead time. They moved some tables around just to seat us which was nice. Everyone was nice and service was kind, although pretty slow. We weren't in a hurry and it was a laid back night for us but if you come here hungry, you might be angry. THE FOOD: the menu is tapas style which was great because we weren't really hungry. We only ordered the duck fat fries and the lobster flatbread. Duck fat fries were good, came out piping hot and cooked just perfectly. I would have eaten more than a few pieces if it wasn't giving me heartburn. The lobster flatbread was just ok for me, the husband enjoyed them but I thought the lobster tasted too much like crawfish. Overall, the ambiance was nice and chill for a Friday night. I liked the live music and I'm sure it's a great spot to enjoy some drinks and just hang out. However, the food isn't anything I'd rave about, probably a good spot during warmer weather to just relax and drink with friends. I'll come back when I'm no longer pregnant :) read more

I ordered the Reuben and took it home. I forgot it was in the fridge. I was hungry and ate it three days later. I can't tell you how damn good it was. It was perfect. That was three days later !!! Imagine if I had it Saturday. I have not found a Reuben like this in a long time. A really long time. Parallel is just one of the best restaurants I've ever spent my money at. I pray Parallel stays in Ashburn for a very long time. In fact, I never mentioned the appetizers nor their other dishes. We tried the brunch and I apologize for not taking any photos. What really caught my eye about this place was the bloody mary bar AND that they have free wine tastings on Wednesdays (not sure if I'll ever make that). We had the mimosas (refreshing), western omelette, andouille sausage dish and the chicken and waffles. All dishes came with their version of home fries, a small 'cup' of fruit and frisee salad. There wasn't anything that really stood out for us - it was all good enough to finish off our plates, but nothing to make us want to eat here again and again. The one thing I found interesting was that the coffee was self serve, but yet they only had a couple of options to choose from. We have no problems with serving ourselves, but at least provide us with more of a selection. read more

So we just came in from Los Angeles California. We are members of one of the larger aerospace corporations there. We heard this place would be really great! So we ordered the flatbread mushroom pizza. And as an appetizer we wanted the pickle chips with the ranch dressing. The waitress finally comes out and what does she do? She does a crazy spastic trip and fall move and it spills the ranch dressing all over my girlfriends leg and the rest of the chips and everything went all over the floor! Oh sure the " sorries" were flying all over the place. And that would have been OK. However, they chose not to comp our meal after my girlfriend and business colleague stained her business attire as we are on our way to our first meeting exhausted and flying from 3000 miles away. So we understood that at that level (the waiter and waitress level ) they couldn't comp the meal. So we thought we would just talk to the manager and get this all settled. The manager was even worse. This person has the absolute wrong attitude for customer service. You can go there and expect great food but make sure you wear your plastic tarp over your business attire!! read more

What a pleasant surprise! Went here for a date night and thoroughly enjoyed it! A great wine selection to choose from. The food - we ordered the bacon lollies with deviled eggs. They were good, only negative there (which is just a preference) was that the bacon was pretty fatty, but had a great taste. We also ordered the crab cake sliders that came with duck fat fries. They were pretty tasty especially the fries! The best of our evening....the chicken and waffles! OMG! So amazing! Great balance of sweet and spicy with the siracha syrup. Would absolutely get that again! For dessert, they were out of what we wanted from the menu so that was a little disappointing, but the chef was making a cheesecake that we decided to try which satisfies my sweet tooth. The service - our waiter was awesome! The space - quaint place! Has outdoor seating when the weather is decent. Large chunks of roasted pulled pork with a creamy sauce, topped with slaw of tomatoes, onion and cabbage. Flat top fried tortilla made for a nice roasty taste. Great place for brunch! We sat at the bar and met Tony, who was an incredible bartender/server. All of his recommendations were on-point and not only food, you'll get good whiskey suggestions too. We started with the Ultimate Bloody (was missing the bacon, I think?) and the bourbon mimosa flight, which my girlfriend loved. For entrees, we had the pork belly benedict and steak and eggs, both were a little heavy on the salt (seems like they might not have adjusted the salt on the steak to account for the salt in the chimichurri) but we finished them both regardless. Tell them what kind of flavors you like and they'll match your palete. They also offer wine flights where you can choose 3 different glasses for only $13. As far as pairings go, pretty much everything on the menu can be paired with a drink - even the desserts. They have a variety of seating options to choose from - two separate bars, standing tables, lounge tables/couches (outside only) and dinning tables. We started with the Caprese Salad topped with buffalo mozzarella and -what tasted like- a fried hash brown (I can't remember what it was exactly). To follow, we had the Tomato/Kalamata Olive Bruschetta topped with shredded mozz, black beans, sliced tomatoes and small bites of meat. By the time we finished our fourth glass of whiskey, we ordered the Lobster Flatbread that came with small bacon bites and a light salad. It doesn't end here... to top it off I had the Dark Raspberry Crème brûlée and my date had the pecan tart which came with a cup of frozen lemon sorbet (a perfect combination because the tart was warm and the sorbet was cold). Horrible service on Sunday. Not even busy to excuse the slow uninterested wait staff.

We have been here twice for happy hour and crazy hour. The first time we were greeted awkwardly by the hostess but the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The second time we came the bar staff barely talked to us and seemed more distracted by their phone and talking to other servers. The cocktails are a little less creative than other places, at least what's on the menu. The wine options don't blow me away either but I'm a bit of a wine snob so that's personal preference. I think we might need to come back for dinner instead of sitting at the bar. Maybe that's where we've gone wrong. I'm not willing to write them off based on the recent experience but I can't say that love the place. read more

It was very loud in the bar and there was a faint antiseptic smell. Parallel's attempt at breaking the whiskey bar cliche falls short by going too far with loud TV's and slow service. Any attempts at conversation was impossible and it was hard to hear each other. They do offer a few cocktails for those not interested in Whiskey, but lack in the selection of exciting and rare bottles for the connoisseur. The food choices are basic to the area and they were just okay. We expected an hip whiskey bar with open atmosphere and great food, but were disappointed and met with poor service. read more
